Good value card and easy application processI liked the offer 14.99%, no annual fee and 4 month pay later plans (their verson of BNPL but longer) so I applied online and had to email two recent payslips through. This was on Friday, Saturday morning I got an SMS and ema... Read moreil saying my card had been ordered. I didn't find the application too intrusive. They are a little conservative on the credit limit compared to last time I got a new card but responsible lending laws have changed since then and it's still way more than I'll ever use. The digital card had appeared in the app by the time I woke up Monday morning so I activated. Although the card was visable in the app and online banking the account wasn't. I also opened a transaction account which was visable so I messaged them in the app and got a response in minutes all fixed. I also had another question on a different day - same quick response, so much better to message than having to call. Payments from transaction account to credit card processes instantly which is nicer than my old card which took a day or so.

Time wasterThis card would appear to be a good for travel, with zero fees and zero international transaction fees. Not just the application, but the requirement to set up internet banking which can then only be cancelled through their call centre. The first and last time I will deal with BankWest.

Love the high interest rateI can’t afford to put much away, so the maximum of $250 per month is fine with me. The interest rate for this account has always been the highest that i could find anywhere (always above 3%). Unfortunately this particular account is no longer offered.

Their point is that since the insurance business is outsourced by Bankwest to a third party, I as a client must communicate to that third party myself. If that party cannot deliver the service in line with their contractual obligations, Bankwest has nothing to do with it. It is entirely my problem. Sounds great. They charge money for the service but refuse to deliver it. Another issue is complimentary airport lounge visits. The entitlement is to have 10 per year. My wife just tried to visit all lounges in Tullamarine airport that should provide access to Bankwest clients but was not admitted to any single one. All lounges informed her that Bankwest is not a part of the program anymore.

Finally we were advised our application was not approved as my husband works for a labour hire company. We have been loyal Bankwest customers for the past 8 years, both work and have no debt. I was more disappointed with the application process or lack of then the declining of the application. Our car sales person was also very surprised with the constant requests for irrelevant paperwork and in the end we just ended up going with the car yards finance company who was more than happy to match Bankwests interest rate. Good to deal withUntil I saw this review, I didn't know I got rewards but I'll certainly be asking about it. Good service after 2 years with them, no complaints and low monthly fees compared to my other cards
