I am completely satisfied with this amplifier – It may not be the loudest amplifier in the world but the sound is very good (warm) and the unit is reliable! I have had this amp for about 8 years… Read more
(maybe longer) and in the past five years, it has not been turned offf. I use it for my computer audio output, playing music and watching movies and tv shows. It really has a nice sound and plenty of oomph in the bass department if you want to listen to your music with a thump. There are five sets of stereo inputs including a phono input for turntables, so you're covered if you have an array of music players - CD, tuner, cassette, whatever. I just run my audio card outputs ito it and it sounds perfect.
I rarely turn it past 10 o'clock, which is like about 3 or 4 out of ten, because I'm mostly just listening to YouTube videos or watching TV shows. To be honest, the thing shouldn't be turned past 1 o'clock, because the sound just gets muddier from then on, not louder, but that might be my speakers not being able to handle it although at that level (1 o'clock) it is really quite loud. If I remember right, I paid about $350 at JB HIFI way back and at that price, I would fully recommend this amplifier to anyone who wants good affordable sound for their bedroom or loungeroom.
Great amp when bridged – Bridged and used for a sub in small car this thing worked brilliantly! For a larger car you may need a little more power. Would also be decent to power 6x9's

and fitted it straight away and worked great for half an AC/DC song then turned unit off. After a few days tried to restart unit but to no avail, checked wiring and all was good upto but not the unit it's self so another warranty claim, then when removing the unit to send back for warranty the entire front came off the unit exposing the insides, when this happened the cd player also fell out. Got my money back and bought another brand. If you are looking for a single DIN head unit this ain't the one.

Perth & probably many other states, you could be driving along and all of a sudden the wireless apple carplay drops out. This happens in the same locations all the time (the worst is around the city). There are varying degrees that dropouts could occur; sometimes the audio drops in and out but the worst is when it disconnects completely and you could be using Maps to get to a location. And the only way for you to reconnect is to stop the car completely. Pioneer do have technical support and I arranged a talk with their engineer. He said that they are aware of the problem and to keep an eye on the firmware. Well, its almost a year since their last release... I hope they don't forget about this unit. The main reason for me getting the unit was for wireless apple carplay; to safely make calls, audio read texts and navigation but when it disconnects it is distracting to the driver.

responsive and smooth touch interface. The stock unit delivered good sound via USB input, but the Bluetooth audio quality was hardly acceptable, like 64-128 kbit/s MP3. With this one, I play music on Spotify with Apple Carplay, and can't compain about the sound quality anymore. Wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto is a convenient feature. I have Siri, and the phone control buttons on the steering wheel. I still have my reverse camera; as usual, the video from the camera automatically appears when the gearbox is switched to Reverse. Overall the product is easy to use.
Cons: 1. The brightness of the screen is subpar; it's nowhere near modern tablets, such as the iPad. As a result, on sunny days, or at dusk/dawn, when the glossy screen of the unit gets exposed to direct sunlight, it easily gets overwhelmed by it and becomes hard to see. I have since put an anti-glare film on the screen; it somewhat helps, but not much. 2. Wireless Apple Carplay is susceptible to radio interference. In certain places of the city (always the same places, BTW) music and/or navigation may stutter. In certain densely built-up areas (e.g. CBD), the unit may lose the connection with the phone; at this point the screen goes dark, the navigation stops completely. Even worse, the unit won't restore the connection with the phone by itself, instead I have to power cycle the unit, i. e. park the car, turn off the power, start again. I guess, until the manufacturer rectifies the issue, you better connect the phone via USB before driving if you need navigation in such areas.

Bluetooth conectivity. The unit performs fairly well, it can play CDRs but I have problems playing mp3s on CDRWs. The other issues with Pioneer units is you cant control your auto anthena to retract when you off your unit. means you have to disconnect if you want to go for a auto wash. Or do a seperate switch to lower the anthena. Otherwise the unit has done pretty well. (when working right) I thought I'd spend a little extra and get something decent that was gonna last and sound good. Well this was very short lived and I REGRET my purchase of this!!!!. At around 8 months old it kept on forgetting my phone constantly asking me to pair with it each time I used it. Annoying!!!..Then the remedy was to reset it to factory via instructions in the manual. I have had to do this numerous times since. Each time all of the settings are wiped as well as the clock, display settings, the radio stations, the bass, the equalizer settings. The whole blocks and dice. So frustrating and time consuming only to be repating all of this in the not to distant future. Of late it won't play my USB. Probably another reset but I'm at my wits end wasting time with it. I bought it from NO FRILLS car audio and accessories in Sydney via eBay. And when I contacted them I was ignored and swept under the carpet. I will never use eBay to buy a high ticketed item like this again nor from NO FRILLS and I will NEVER buy another PIONEER product. They used to be the best but now have gone to the wall
Good unit but does have a glitch or 2 occasionally – Had this unit in my vehicle for over a year now, occasionally blue tooth drops out and every now and then a loud buzz comes through system. Ignition off then on and it goes. Other than that it seems ok.paid $500 fitted

- subwoofer phase control, normal / reverse
- subwoofer volume control in -/+10db
- aux input via 3.5mm jack
- auxiliary input via RCA inputs (stereo)
- remote control card size makes it good to use whilst driving;
The unit looks and feels really good and the sound quality churned out using the unit is sensational. The Downside to this head unit are:
- does not have blue tooth functionality, alternative is to connect to the 3.5mm jack to your phone;
- the ribbon which connects both faces has a short life span;
- hard to find replacement ribbon through Pioneer as its discontinued model;
- ageing product makes it hard to find replacement parts
If it wasn't for the Bluetooth feature, I would be still using the unit but since replacing the ribbon, it became a challenge to find the parts so I was compelled to sell it to a potential collector.
Great unit with features not available in head units today but only focused on SQ / car audio gurus who know how to set frequencies to customise the sound to suit their speaker/ subwoofer systems.
I will certainly miss this unit. The features on this unit is incomparable to units available today.

quality is outstanding, many ways to alter the sound from this unit.
The screen and buttons can be changed to a variety of colours and themes.
The Bluetooth hooks up immediately and so does the reverse camera image. Android auto is fantastic and great for anyone with an android mobile. Apple carplay is also on the unit.
The touch screen while not as intuitive as a phone is quite adequate.
There's a bling feature called Mixtax that makes the unit behave like a disco which is good for drunken parked singalongs at night in your car. This feature only works on USB playback however.
Also awesome is the screen dimmer, on a sunny day the screen is easily seen if you increase brightness, alternatively at night you can dim the screen through the headlights or manually or by a set time. You can also turn the screen off completely. While running android auto with the night dimmer on it also runs in night mode with the maps a dark colour, not bright white which is distracting.
I love android auto, you can press a mic button or do the "o.k Google" and it works superb", play me this, play me that, take me here, take me there" Love Google assistant. It will play songs from your Google play music library on your phone while android auto is running without a full subscription to play music.
My only gripe is the radio icon that appears when in radio mode. It's so outdated and looks like it came from the 1920's. You can get rid of it by extending your saved radio station menu. If it wasn't for this 5 stars, as it stays blue and doesn't change with different theme colours.
Don't bother wiring up the green park brake wire, just ground/earth it and the unit will function properly.
Highly recommend this unit and great prices can be found on EBAY.
anyone who has a unit there are 3 firmware updates available from pioneer australias support page,if bought early on may pay to check,the last one fixes the back to front Bluetooth phone book name lists.

Has high pass filter if you aren't using external amplifier. Great presets (I use mainly vocal to up the highs and cut the bass, powerful for most, and superbass to bring up the bass or you can do a custom one) a bass boost. You can tell it whether the sub is upside down or normal, and choose the frequency you want for highs and lows.
Has 2 comp/bmx settings to richen the sound.
3 pre outs for sub/rear/front (don't know if 2v or 4v)
plays WMA AAC MP3 - adjustable background, same backgrounds still used on pioneer headunits been released to this day. (but with a much smaller screen!) and the radio is awesome, it saves them automatically to the preset numbers along the bottom if you want it too. (so you get FM1, FM2, FM3 and the AM's x 6 buttons each)
the 2 people that have previously reviewed this H/U were wrong, You can turn it off with the volume knob being held in.
YOU CAN adjust the display to not be so bright, turn the unit off and hold down function to find more settings. Reliable, Great settings, Looks fancy and nice, 3 pre-outs NOTHING, just bluetooth and USB/SD have become popular now

extracting the album names and song titles correctly. The best feature is the bluetooth integration which works excellently. Get a call and the music goes off, changing to boradcasting the conversation through your car speakers. Once the call is over the music starts from where it left off. Dial/joystick press-in function can be difficult to use without accidently moving the joystick.

mine brand new in 2007 for only $160 after bargaining the guy at JB Hifi. a BluRay burner it will take most of the day you have over 500 GB of files to archive. Nonetheless one 128 GB disk replaces ~182x 700 MB CD's, 27x 4.7 GB DVD's, ~6x 25 GB, 3x 50 GB (bilayer) or ~2x 100 GB (trilayer) GB BluRay disks:
Overall 128 GB disks are less expensive and take a lot less time.
For some reason the software that often comes with these burners doesn't support long file directory paths/names N.B. None of the common backup programs support long directory paths/filenames even though Windows seems perfectly happy to do so. You can either rename the long filenames to something shorter (time consuming) or wait for the archive software (Nero, Roxio, etc...) to catch up to windows support of long file names. Funnily enough ImgBurn, which is free, will burn long file names if you set it to ISO.
The BDR-S12U and the BDR-212D (currently on sale) seem to have identical specs: 8x speed and 3 Gb/s on a SATA-3 interface. That means you can't buy a faster BluRay burner at the moment.
Pro's: Optical archival media is much more stable than magnetic media: Magnetic media is too easy to damage or lose. So once a year all files are backed up on optical media. Unfortunately there are a lot of files... and you lose an entire day... so faster burners are always welcome.
Cons: One annoying feature of all these burners is that if you watch movies on them they'll lock to whatever zone you inserted after 5 disks. This is painful if you happen to have movies from zones other than Australia. We've now moved to streaming video which has no zone protection... so the zone limits on optical media are silly.
This is a nice burner... but you can't help wishing for even more storage on optical media: 250 GB, 500 GB or 1 TB would be nice.
They've been promising optical storage media with more capacity for years... but so far it hasn't happened.
