An expensive mistakeWe employed a plumber through Same Day Trades. He charged $400 for just over half an hours work. The toilet cistern now does not flush properly and has leaks through a small crack that was not there before. SDT do not return ... Read morecalls.
The plumber will not return to the job and SDT want another $300 for call out fee plus extra.

Read morel but also send an email to Ken Hall pointing out that the report did not have the photos of all areas of the roof, asking them to look into this. I did not receive any response which I found a bit awkward from the company that claim that the customer satisfaction is their number one priority. Instead they send me the overdue account notice in a couple of weeks time, which I found quite rude, as the invoice was paid in full on the next business day of the service provision. The bottom line is that I did the right thing by Ken Hall and was treated poorly in return. I will be looking somewhere else next time.

Was told the day before delayed install that tank wasn't available, could they charge us double to install something we didn't need. They rectified the problem by converting my fan to a remote control unit (they carry these remote control units for such problems). Overall, quite happy with the completed work, service and reasonable cost.

Spruce Electrical Pty Ltd for replacement of gas appliances with electric appliancesQUOTE:

This work must be carried out by a gasfitter with Type A gas appliance servicing qualifications. For a full lis... Read moret of what the gas safety check covers, see the Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) website." UNQUOTE On the 1st March 2023 I was advised that two investment properties that I own received fault notices following their recent Bi-Annual Gas Safety Check. In the past Gas appliances were mainly tested for Carbon Monoxide (CO) emissions. The gas Safety Check now includes negative pressure test that uses a portable smoke generator to observe if any smoke is drawn into the gas appliance. Not all plumbers registered/licensed to install gas appliances are also licensed to perform Gas Safety Checks. These Bi-Annual Gas Safety Checks are important and only apply to rental properties (as do the Annual Smoke Detector Checks). The two fault notices one because of a cracked Braemar (less than 10 years old) Wall Furnace and the second Braemar (20 years cold) wall furnace because of a negative pressure test result. The quote to replace these two units will cost me in excess of $7000.00 as it is not viable to repair either Braemar Wall Furnace. Any Gas appliance that receives a negative pressure test result or other defect such as cracked heat exchanger is immediately decommissioned (gas turned off). In additional, a 30 day notice/demand to replace the gas appliance or remove it completely and have the gas capped (permanently disconnected). I contacted Spruce Electrical Pty Ltd to organise the removal the Wall furnaces and replace with a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Split air conditioning system that in the short term and in the long run will be more cost effective. My gas upright cooker was also faulted (poor oven door seal and gas top burners deemed unserviceable) so I have booked Spruce Electrical Pty Ltd to replace the gas cooker with an electric upright cooker. Total cost to disconnect, cap the gas, remove old cooker and, supply a Chef Fan Forced electric upright cooker, install the cooker, wire new circuit to switchboard and test new stove is $1,700.00 Once again, I highly recommend Spruce Electrical Pty Ltd for all Electrical installations (new installation or replacement of air conditioners and replacement of gas stoves with an electric stove). Spruce Electrical Pty Ltd work hand in hand with an excellent, professional and, competitive licensed plumber. All aspects of the conversion from gas to Electricity are professionally organised by Spruce Electrical Pty Ltd at a very timely and competitive rate.

, identify issues we knew we were having with our system and come up with a variety of solutions to get it where we wanted it to be. Turned out the company that setup our initial system unfortunately took us for a ride, but being productive Ben invited us to investigate the options he proposed, research it and come up with our own thoughts on them and get back to him at our own pace without upselling which we really appreciated. The system we went with fixed most of our problems (unfortunately can't remove trees which Ben was able to forcecast were going to be a huge problem during winter due to shadowcasting) and he did the best he could with a bad situation we have here, as well as leaving us the ability to upgrade the system later including adding a battery. We've now had the system installed for a bit and it's working great, the live monitoring app is unfortunately not great but that's due to the company running the app and not BJ Energy, who have done a great job with after care.Andrew Belsak Electrical & Air Conditioning

Read moretches, cut a hole for the new power point and removed the light fittings (to allow for the ceiling to be painted). Was on site for 3.5 hours, but left for 15 minutes each hour to feed a parking meter. Didn't return to complete the job, disappearing for over a month - leaving 5 light fittings hanging from the ceiling (got another sparky to come and install the new fittings and finish the power point installation). Finally made contact to come and finish the installation of two power points that needed to be ordered in - yet were freely available from several wholesalers as the internet proved. When the invoice arrived the charges included 4.5 hours of labour - plus parking fees that had never been discussed or agreed to (no discount for the 45+ minutes where there was no labour). Each of the points & switches had also been marked up by a minimum of 100%, based on a quick internet search of retail price points. There are better sparky's out there that don't have money grabbing approach this one does.

My plumber said the fitting in the release valve wasn't great quality and certainly not one he'd use. Apparently they should last at least 5 years but they usually last a lot longer. On the second leak he said the pipe had been cut too short so that it would fit in easily. It should have been cut longer, the adjoining pipe undone so that it could be fitted in and then the nut refitted. Maybe a couple of minutes extra time. Pure laziness he said. So my initial installation cost of $675 has had to have my plumbers cost of $389 added to it. Beware the plumbers from 1st Choice.

hem (and numerous other company names) all come under metropolitan plumbing who seem to be notorious over Chargers. The thing is I figured I would pay for instant service, I don't actually dispute the amount (despite being 5x more then the ones I'd have to wait for). It's the fact that I paid the call out fee (assessment?), I was informed that a 'jet clean' should fix it, paid 5x more to have it done, only for them to say it didn't work (I still had to pay them for providing the service) and then quoted me $12k to replace the unit (granted immediately). I've since had it inspected by others with replacement quotes coming in at $4-5k. And had it fixed for $1.4k (but it is old so the fix is temporary at best), the $1.4k was only 10% more then what they charged for 'cleaning', but I needed it to work ASAP, plus the replacement cost is my landlords. Firstly they overcharge like a wounded bull, misdiagnose (or just plain out lie) and then charge and provide a service that doesent fix what they were contacted for. EDIT: I had them perform the over priced service on two other ACs ultimately for maintenance, within two weeks one the units is now leaking, very odd timing considering the good health of the units for the years before. Concerned there will be a defect on the other unit they 'cleaned'. EDIT EDIT: Yep second unit is now leaking in the same fashion, so I paid $3.5k to have 3 air cons cleaned (one not working at all and two for maintenance) the maintenance ones within two weeks are both exhibiting a problem they never did before and both the same! Do not let them touch yours, they will destroy it. Will be documenting fault (with competent technician) and following up.
