My neighbours hate it!So I purchased the Yamaha RX-V385 to replace my RX-V483 that died after 9-10 years.

Read moree far more advanced in technology or functionality but to my disappointment, after 10 years and the same price I actually now have less functionality with my new one! Now before you start saying ‘well you knew what you were buying’, yes, I chose to take the limited functionality for that price as I didn’t really use the additional features such as wifi control on my old one and didn’t want to spend an extra $300-$400 for the new equivalent of what I had previously. Don’t get me wrong, Yamaha makes a great product, the sound is great and it works flawlessly - I do love this amp! I have massive speakers in my shed with a TV that I can connect to Spotify along with a CD and record player for when I want to listen to something old… and this amp pumps! I know a lot of it is due to the speakers but the quality of sound from the amp is impressive - I’m sure my neighbours aren’t a fan! Overall, I recommend this amp, you can’t go wrong with Yamaha, just as you will see from the picture, not much has changed in 10 years. Whether that is a good or bad thing… I’ll let you be the judge.

Great subwoofer and excellent portFirstly, I had a Sony MUTEKI 2012W setup and ended up wanting better because everyone know of HTIB (home theatre in a box) not being the greatest. I ended up looking around and eventually decided that I wanted my own personal... Read more little setup to start from scratch. I had 2 no name cheap speakers (phantom centre speaker) which never worked properly cause the amp back then didn't support more then half of the effect that it was supposed to cause it was so old,, but I found a YST-RSW300 that I ended up getting given at work. Plugged it up and it worked but would flutter from behind the driver at a certain frequency. It would sound phenomenonal on the Fallout 4 start up menu (although being an absolutely horrible game), have deep bass, would have wicked impact and would be really responsive. Although how great it sounded, I eventually got sick of hearing the flutter, which broke immersion in games and movies. I eventually got a Klipsch R52c centre speaker for the vocals, just about 2-3 weeks ago I got the R51M bookshelf speakers until I can get the R820-F for the mains and move the bookshelf speakers to the rear. So I eventually decided to see if there were other ones or even newer ones. Which ended up me finding the NS-SW300,, the result was instantly noticed. I didn't use it too loud and I still don't really use it too loud just yet (being that I've had it for well over a year. I did use the Mono input to start off with but realised that the LFE plug over rides the Mono and frequency dial. And it sounds good, real good. The bass is tremendous, the Fallout 4 menu again sounds deep and impactful. It responds really quickly, the depth of bass that comes out isn't too boomy or over the top. I ended up having yo turn the gain down from half way to about a third of the way up. Having the port on the right side of the cabinet means that you can use the entire room or the wall to extend the bass. I have since purchased a second subwoofer of the exact same. It doesn't really need it because the way I have them yet up is via a gold plated 5m long Y-plug feeding from my single subwoofer pre-out Yamaha RX385V. Not a bad amp but at the time I was limited with the moolah. I can have either subwoofer on while playing video games or movies. And which ever one I do use is in the perfect spot. But if I use both at the same time then although it doesn't get overly explosive or Michael Bay(esq) it gives the illusion of more bass (defined by the 3+dB thanks to the two) I was hesitant to buying a subwoofer because in the past I did buy a Klipsch RS100 which stopped for some reason not even 6 months of buying it and it upset me because it cost so much and I thought that it sounded good. And there's no fuse like all the other ones to be able to replace,, so straight over the shoulder that went and in came the Yamaha NS-SW300 and so glad that I did end up coming down to this one. She enforces power down pact, the rattle of my entire bedroom and the loose things around the house can confirm that. My neighbours even hear it, not from how loud or over the top it is, but by how low and deep it reaches. The port of this design makes you realise that even though it's a compact size, you'll defiantly get more then enough bang for your buck.
Realistically, if you want a subwoofer that has great response and that reaches lower then what your soul does going down to hell then this is definitely something for you. It's small and compact and I even have it in a small (but fully open on all sides) glass cabinet and it couldn't be any better. The bass hits exactly where we sit and even all around the room. Because it fires so rapidly and precisely, there can't really be a better subwoofer at this size for the same price. This has one finished on the top of a lot of lists regarding it's size and output and just as an overall item. Hopefully you read this novel (if anyone did) and made your mind up about this monstrous machine of a subwoofer.

I hope they bring out a redesigned version of these as the sound was on point, but they need to address issues by redesigning to have: -Bose-like interchangeable ear pads with a better mounting system as the current design wears out and falls off. -physical buttons for controls, or finely tune the current touch controls; volume up and down worked fine as did pause/play, but good luck forwarding or rewinding a track.Yamaha MCR-N670

Very Accurate Sound Reproduction with plenty of Oomph !! Very happy with itI have had this AV Receiver for about 2 weeks. It replaced a Sherwood Newcastle R-865 which I had for 16 years. Don't confuse Sherwood Newcastle with lower end Sherwood products sold by JB Hi Fi and Harvey Norman. This was a... Read more higher end AV Receiver purchased through "Nick" at Eastwood HiFi in 2004. Unfortunately after 16 years I started getting a little static through the center channel amp. I really liked the sound quality of the Sherwood Newcastle and was a little concerned that I wouldn't get something to replace it, that sounded "similar". Nick at Eastwood HiFi advised me that I would need to go to something at the level of the Yamaha RX V3085. He said it will be slightly different, a little more accurate, not quite as "warm"; but overall a pretty close replacement. The AV Receiver is matched to 2 x Paradigm Studio 60V3 Fronts, a Paradigm CC470V3 Center, 2 x Paradigm CI Pro P80-R Rears and a Yamaha TST SW800 Subwoofer.
While its a 9.2 Channel AV Receiver I am only using it as a 5.1 Setup as that is really all my living room allows for. I have used 2 of the Surround channels to Bi Amp the front speakers.
I am really happy with the sound quality. It's at least the equal of my Sherwood Newcastle, which I really liked and was very happy with. On some 5.1 channel Music DVD's if anything, its probably slightly more detailed and refined than my Sherwood Newcastle.
Setup was pretty intuitive and overall its pretty easy to figure out all the controls and settings if you're any way technically minded. The YPOA Auto Setup Function did a pretty good job of setting the speaker distances and levels. I did have to over ride some of the settings to get the Sub Woofer active on 2 channel music CD's and Free to Air TV. The YPOA set up set all speakers to large with a 40khz crossover. I reset the speaker sizes to small with the crossover on the fronts and center @ 60hz and the rears at 80hz. I also reset the level on the sub woofer from -6.5db to 0. These changes then "forced" the subwoofer active on all input sources.
I don't have a humungous TV or projector, or a 4k TV. I only have a 52" ULTRA HD TV as that is more than adequate for the room. Picture quality on Foxtel HD and on Blue Ray DVD's through the AV Receiver is very good.
Overall the build quality is very good, although a little behind the Sherwood Newcastle. Nick at Eastwood HiFi did say to me that regardless of what I bought, it's unlikely to last 16 years like the Sherwood Newcastle did. He said 10 years is about life for a modern day AV receiver.

It has usb, iPhone/iPod, Aux, CD, Bluetooth and radio and the iPhone input is for the iPhone 4 so you will need an adapter for the iPhone 5. It has a sleek modern layout which is clean, yet simple and elegant. It is small enough for small rooms as it can be setup with speakers next to the main unit, or separated from the main unit. Now functionality. Remember, for me, this is for use in the bedroom, so the criteria is as follows: Needs a large clear display for the clock function-it has it. Needs an alarm function-it has it. Needs to save all settings- it can hold all settings without power for around 1 hours. Needs Bluetooth-it has it. Needs a USB port for charging-it has it. Needs a remote controller-it has it. Needs a FM radio with a 75 ohm antenna socket-it has it. And for other handy features that I like but are not critical for me. It has a single CD deck, an AUX input on the rear, simple clip type connections for the speaker wires, headphone jack and USB storage device playback, and charging. The MCR-B020 also has a calendar with the clock display and two alarm functions, built in sound and the audio source you set. For a small unit it has very good sound, and there is a good array of sound settings for the Low, Mid & High ranges. It will also allow you to setup "repeat" & "shuffle" settings with data music CD's and USB storage. The MCR-B020 also features an array of interesting additional features such as: ECO mode, Standby mode, 3 adjustable EQ settings, Balance, Dimmer, Power Saving & Auto Power Standby. All these are easily accessed and adjusted. The instruction booklet is clear, simple and comprehensive. You can play music at low volumes and there is no hissing sound from the speakers, and the CD mechanism is quiet when operating. Tuning radio stations is simple, as is setting up the unit itself. The overall quality and finish is very good, as is the overall sound, considering it's size. I highly recommend this unit if your wanting something compact, yet capable of delivering decent sound, and doubling as a clock radio. It is from a very reputable company, so I don't expect any issues.

In a crowded market, these stand out for a number of reasons!I already have three other headphones. I have planar magnetic for critical listening, studio headphones for my work and noise-cancelling headphones for the gym and travel. I needed a pair of buds for the gym because my NC ove... Read morer the earphones are too bulky and not really compatible with exercise (they fall off and they're not good with sweat). I went to JB HI FI and found myself in a veritable sea of true wireless buds. Every brand seems to have several models and there's even a true-wireless version of my NC cans in the same colour. I've always respected Yamaha for their musical instruments and audio products because they are of the highest quality possible for the price. I spotted a very small Yamaha display midst all the other brands and had a look. I needed some waterproofing (IPX5) tick! Excellent build quality tick! and USB-C because micro USB is a deal-breaker in 2020 - tick!
So I took a 'risk' (not really with Yamaha) and bought the most basic model - TW-E3A in black. I took them home and I'm loving it. Firstly, they fit perfectly and feel so comfortable I hardly realise I have them on. I changed the medium silicone buds they ship with to the next size up and they seal perfectly. The sound quality is what you expect from Yamaha. They do not have bloated bass like some of their competition, they have a classic flat frequency response, but with a surprisingly wide sound stage. There is no audible distortion either. The bass is musical, the notes on some of my reference songs played with TIDAL on highest settings, meant the dymanics of the notes in the lower frequencies bend, swell and decay just like they should. Very impressive. The midrange is simply clear and defined, with just a touch of warmth. This is the audio recipe I expected from a company like Yamaha and makes for the most pleasurable listening.
I'm enjoying them, they're absolutely worth it for the price I paid (under 150). I think that once word gets out these things will sell like toilet paper did in April 2020. As a final testimony to how much I like these, is that instead of my usual morning routine of coffee on the front step with the dog, my Astell and Kern audio player and my Auduze planar magnetics, I chose to use my phone with bluetooth and my new Yammy earbuds. Oh, and unlike other brands they support APTX and a range of other high-res codecs! Noice. I highly recommend these.

Exceeded my expectationsBought this to replace a Pioneer that had the dreaded chip error. Fantastic sound depth, and easy to set up room equalisation automatically with the supplied microphone. Movies sound so much better, almost can’t believe the difference. Can now even get pleasure from the rear speakers, with great surround sound effects coming through from movies.

Typical of rubbish sold to the uninitiatedSo you finally relent and upgrade to an expensive smart tv, the sound is tinny and you find out this is the norm so you relent to the pressure you need a soundbar, you research like mad and choose a product from a manufacture... Read morer historically connected to music and sound, and you get what? Sound out of sync, so after brain bashing research come across something called PCM?, OK, that fixed that one but who knows what that was all about, then there is four buttons for presets rather than an equalizer interface in the minimalist interface of the mobile app, and there is no difference between any of them, and while you are trying different settings, the soundbar seized up the TV and it has to be reset to get control back, and the woofer boom just keeps vibrating under everything no matter what settings you tweek on the TV, an absolute waste of money and it's back in the box and now my biggest problem is where to store it or do I just GIVE it back to the shop because it's yet another product making money from the uninitiated caught out by the marketing with no recourse to get a refund once it's been unpacked. Advice!? Spend a hell of allot more money but get s degree in sound engineering first because the whole subject is just too difficult to understand unless all you want to do is blow your ears out, or just put up with the tinny sound from the expensive smart TV. What a con this whole television industry has become!

Great sound but USB won't workGreat cd player and radio. In fact, unbelievably good sound. Want to play Spotify or such from your mobile phone? Sadly, complete fail; very disappointing. Verdict: grandad stuff very well catered for. Anything vaguely modern: forget about it.

Would be great if it workedI've purchased a new Yamaha PS500 digital piano and a new iPad Pro but neither recognise each othe so I am unable to utilise the "Smart Pianist" app which is the main reason I bought this expensive set up... I have been unabl... Read moree to get any help from Yamaha support. I am using a single cable USB-A to USB-C but the PS500 states that this device is unusable without any reasons or suggestions.I also went to some trouble to register my new PS500 only to discover I couldn't as it may have been registered as part of "After Care"... I have not been advised anywhere of this "Aftercare" and what happens if I have to make a claim on my Warranty? Thank you for any assistance you can offer
