Read moreesentatives regarding our policy and was asked a serious of questions regarding what type of work we did, such as do you work on elevators or escalators etc. He then asked if we do smoke alarms which I said yes, most Electrical contractors do this kind of work, every new home has to have them installed which are mains hardwired and legally needs to be completed by an electrician. Suddenly he had to speak with someone within their department and came back to say sorry we don’t cover that and we are canceling your policy in 2 weeks unless you cancel it sooner. Unbelievably this came out of nowhere and was not at all part of the reason for calling them. There is nothing within the PDS to mention the No cover for Smoke Alarms. He had nothing to quote besides we have just decided that we can no longer cover you. They can’t offer Electrical business correct insurance however they are happy to take your premium. Once you are speaking to them and mention smoke alarms you’ll either be rejected or cancelled like us. Don’t risk it go get insurance elsewhere they don’t cover smoke alarm work but don’t mention it anywhere. What else don’t they cover and not tell you?

A “tornado” Storm event occurred during lockdown.
We were loc... Read moreked out of caravan park for almost two years due to covid lockdown. Couldn’t get in to see any damage this storm event caused. Finally allowed back in almost two years later to find caravan had water ingress issues. Our van is well kept, looks like new and never had issues prior to lockdown, or I would have claimed sooner. The storm caused havoc throughout the holiday park as a whole, uprooting large trees, debris etc.. AAMI send out their assessor from RCC. As we found it extremely hard to find a repairer who repair “onsite” caravans. We were able to find one but he was extremely busy at the point in time and didn’t have time to do the job. So AAMI sent out their assessor from RCC. Our repairer inspected the van and quoted the job much higher. AAMI questioned the accuracy of our quote. However we were not comparing apples with apples. RCC assessor was going to “reuse”undamaged panels, however our cabinetry is discontinued. As I mentioned our cabinetry is discontinued, so basically the repair (done AAMI’s way) would have been a patch up job, with all unmatching cabinetry throughout. Our van is consistent throughout, we expect it to remain consistent. Who in their right mind repairs in that manner ? Patch up ? You can’t do that. AAMI assessor said in his report our seals were deteriorated. I have photos to prove they are not deteriorated. Regardless… the claim was denied on the grounds it was gradual damage as opposed to a Storm event. The tornado was a fact ! Our seals are not deteriorated, this is another fact ! They need to fix our van, our van has water ingress damage due to STORM ! I’m sure a “TORNADO” comes under the category of STORM. We were offered not even a quarter of our quote amount to fix the van properly. The offer was a “goodwill gesture” only. Matter is now with AFCA. Whom I am waiting to hear from. I’m currently in the process of obtaining quotes to shift all policies elsewhere. Upon obtaining quotes, I have just realised how much they have been ripping me off, especially with my caravan insurance and I’m talking I get can cover for a third of my current premium with AAMI amount with a reputable insurer. We have been long standing loyal customers. The manner used towards us over the phone has been disrespectful and of a bullying and intimidating nature, which I also raised with AAMI in an email. Do better AAMI, treat your customers properly. They will now lose a lot more in our yearly premiums every year moving forward, than it would have cost them to fix our van. Don’t go with AAMI “UNLUCKY we are with AAMI”
