Appliance Central
Excellent service from Appliance CentralI recently used Appliance Central for my LG 65 inch Nano75 LED TV. As I live in Melbourne and they are based in NSW I must admit to being a little nervous about ordering a relatively big ticket, fragi…le item like a big screen TV from an interstate company, however I needn't have worried. From the moment I received a receipt in my inbox, I had a hunch that these guys were professionals. Communication via email and text message from both Appliance Central and the freight company they use, Allied Express, was excellent and I could plan accordingly. They don't make you wait and wait. I ordered the TV on a Friday and it was here in excellent condition (with double straps and fragile stickers) by Monday morning. The TV is also an excellent addition to my home theatre experience and has proved to be everything an LG product should be. Well done, Appliance Central, on competitive pricing and excellent overall service! Highly recommended! |
LG Nano75 65NANO75TPA (65")
Excellent value Nanocell TVI recently bought the LG 65Nano75 model and this has proven to be a complete revelation. While I was initially looking for a Nano86 or 91 model, due to stock unavailability in my area (a common proble…m of late) I settled on a Nano75 model from Harvey Norman because I could get a next day delivery. I was glad I did as this has so far proved to be an excellent buy. Firstly the design of the Nano75 is simple and neat. The two feet and black frame look identical to the company's OLED A1 model and also the cheaper UP80 series; it's their winning design in my opinion. This model comes with the company's newly refreshed WebOS operating system, which is intuitive to use and easy to access all the apps. The updated remote control is also user friendly, once you get used to the mouse wheel and pointer system, which is really unique. My only grip is that they don't include a cheat button for youtube unlike some competitors (but it's nice having one for Disney Plus). 3 HDMI inputs is a little mean considering the era in which we live but I use a Sony 1080 receiver anyway so it's no big deal. Picture quality is overall excellent considering the affordable price of this model, which I got on sale for not much more than a generic brand model. The panel is fairly low contrast and my guess is that the ADS panel is sourced from China's BOE rather than LG itself but no deal breaker. The inclusion of filmmaker mode across the board is something for which LG deserves kudos - a great setting and this makes films look extremely cinematic. Black levels are not outstanding with the lights out for movies but okay for normal DVD and blu ray as the upscaling is excellent. With a bit of mood lighting, 4K HDR movies look superb from my Panasonic 4k blu ray player. I found lowering the brightness and turning on AI enhancement decreased the effects of some minor light bleeding in the top right hand corner. Overall, though, my TV has a very even picture quality with good performance with most content. With sports or news content from free to air TV, I could not detect much in the way of banding or other impurities so I think I got a good panel. Overall, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching a variety of content on my new 65 inch Nano75, which appears to be an absolute winner from Lucky Goldstar (true, look it up...) The picture is very good for the money and proves there is life left in affordable LED TVs. Well done, LG! |
Fishpond.com.au
Excellent value order from overseas! Brilliant service, Fishpond!I recently ordered more than 10 Doctor Who Big Finish audio CDs from Fishpond - these are normally absurdly expensive to buy as they come from Big Finish in the UK. The only remotely affordable option… for Australian Dr Who fans who want these is to order through Fishpond or its ebay sites. In less than a month, during a pandemic no less with limited international flights into Australia, I have received a ten pack of these audios in perfect condition already, well boxed with adequate padding, and have great confidence the rest of these orders will arrive. One title is out of stock and they have already updated my order status with an estimated delivery - top marks! These audios were delivered with free postage, making this company the only show in town in relative terms for getting these at a reasonable cost - Doctor Who fans, take note! I have also ordered many DVDs and books from Fishpond and never had an issue. Thank you for your excellent service - you have a customer for life! |
Devanti
Excellent value Devanti 32 inch Smart LED TVI bought the Devanti 32 inch Smart LED TV Model STVHD32BK from an ebay seller for the low price of $289 including delivery, which I thought was a bargain for a Smart TV model. I wanted this model to g…o up to a holiday house so it was not destined for a lot of heavy daily use. I'm glad I bought it. I had not heard of the brand Devanti before but the price seemed too good to pass up - only had it a day but it's a great TV on first impressions. It was a very easy TV to assemble and install - the feet actually fitted properly, something some better known Japanese brands can sometimes mess up with, and the remote control is large and feels substantial to hold. The all-plastic chassis of the TV unit is to be expected at this price point, but it felt well screwed together and the simple design of silver speaker strip at the bottom underneath the black bezel gives a good impression. Note that I have not yet tried the Smart features. The menu system is comprehensive and easy to navigate. Picture mode is best set to user so you can adjust most aspects of the picture. Normal is the default factory setting and colours from free-to-air channels look a bit bleached and devoid of saturation. Adjust the settings in the user mode and you can quickly get a much better picture - movies such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon as shown by SBS World Movies, look very good if you turn the backlight and brightness down. Apparently, Devanti use an IPS panel sourced from LG Display; this is a good thing, especially if you sit off-centre and need good picture quality at an angle. This TV delivers on that to a great extent. But the contrast also seemed quite good, too, with reasonable black levels, even with the lights off; top marks for such a budget-friendly model. At only 5 watts x 2, sound quality is a little half-baked but a sound bar or mini system can overcome this. For regular free to air viewing, this won't be a problem and for most people a 32 inch TV will not be the main movie watching model. Only two HDMI inputs, though, is a worry in 2020 where bluray and DVD players are making a dramatic comeback and satellite boxes, games consoles etc take up other inputs...Overall, though I am really rather astonished with my first foray into the Devanti brand, especially considering the value on offer with an LG sourced panel at a much lower price. Competing with generic brands fromthe likes of Aldi, JB Hifi, Kogan and the discount Chinese-made Japanese brands, Devanti plays ball on a crowded field but if this model is anything to go by, you need to give it serious thought while questioning the value equation of so-called bigger brands. Holiday house TV? Not likely - Highly recommended for all uses! |
Lenoxx DVD3460N
Brilliant value for money multizone DVD playerI bought this dvd player from Lenoxx Electronics from ebay as I previously had a good experience from their budget mini systems. This dvd player was originally bought as a spare in case one of my main… Pioneer or Panasonic machines died on me, after all we're in lockdown at the moment due to COVID-19. I honestly wasn't expecting much due to the low price, it was around $60 for memory. Well, you just can't judge products these days from the purchase price. This model is the epitome of cheap and cheerful but also a whole lot more. While this is no blu ray player or HDMI equipped machine, you don't expect that for the money any way. The basic DVD player has a component and AV video/ audio output like the good old days of VHS recorders. The small but full functional remote control has a good feel to it with excellent responsiveness. There is disc eject/ close button on the remote which some Japanese branded machines worth $500 do not have, ahem... The picture quality is simply superb for such a low priced machine: good black levels, colour saturation and depth of field. Sound quality is perfectly acceptable at two-channels so this is ideal as a bedroom unit hooked up to a 32 inch TV as I have done. Spare model? Not likely, it is far too good for that. It will get some good use as I watch some great movies on DVD. Lenoxx Electronics seems to be consistently putting out excellent budget products at very low prices but that does not always mean cheap and nasty. The brand is now my go-to place for discount electronics. Very highly recommended - and not just for the price! Shame they don't do TVs or even a blu ray player... |
