Liberty 4
Verified Good sound; Active Noise Cancelling doesn't do much. Multipoint doesn't work with LDAC codecI've been waiting to buy Soundcore earbuds for a few years. I have multiple pairs of earbuds with the in-ear style, which hurt my ears after a while, due to their size, so I wanted to try smaller stic…k style buds.
With the Liberty 4, out of box the sound is far too bright. I did the fit test & the Hear ID test, and then also chose the treble reducer EQ. After that the sound was pretty good. The dual driver setup is very good to separate the bass from the mids and highs. I just had to turn down the high end, which was far too bright & even hurt my ears. Things like female voices and sibilance were disturbing.
As for the noise cancelling, It really doesn't work well at all. I have a leaf blower outside at the moment & all that happens is it's reduced a little bit. My Jabra 85T have much better noise cancelling (as would Sony, Bose, etc.)
I'm a bit annoyed at Soundcore released a cheaper L4 NC version, that has better ANC, but I wanted the smaller ones, which are the L4. I hope there is a firmware upgrade that fixes the crappy ANC on the L4.
Thumbs up:
- App and controls
- Sound quality AFTER Fit test, Hear ID, & treble reducer EQ applied.
- Mic quality for calls
Thumbs down:
- ANC barely works, and there is a big delay before it kicks in.
- Multipoint only works when LDAC is off. But I bought these specifically for LDAC!
- In LDAC mode, the buds won't auto connect to my Android phone, if they were previously connected to my computer. I have to manually connect via my phone (and vice versa for the computer)
- Occasional connection dropouts (doesn't happen on Jabra 85T or Jabra Elite 4)
- Wind noise reduction mode doesn't do much. I was hoping it would improve listening to music while cycling or walking by the beach.
- Should come with foam tips for comfort & isolation (most of us don't need the heart rate monitoring; I have a Galaxy Watch 5 for that). |
Computer Alliance
Intel NUC (7th gen i3) computer - great little computer and home theatre PCI bought an Intel NUC with 7th gen i3 processor, storage, and memory from Computer Alliance on ebay, and everything arrived quickly, new in box. It's a great little computer that you put together your…self. I had been watching NUCs for a while, when I saw there was a 20% off sale on all parts, so I jumped, and haven't looked back. For what it's worth, I'm running Ubuntu Linux, and our Full-HD TV is connected via HDMI. The NUC has no issue outputting 1080p video in x264 or x265 (incl. hardware decoding support!) Next time I'm in the market for computer equipment, I'll check out Computer Alliance again. Good price, quick service, no issues. Cheers.
