Forever calling my phone even though I've told them several times that I'm not interested
First energy reps are constantly calling me on the daily, even though I have told them several times that I'm not interested. I have to keep charging my phone because they use my battery just from all the calls they make. Its a complete violation. These people are criminals.
While we’re in the process of moving house, I got a call from a telemarketer from 1st energy. I told him I am not interested because I already signed up with another provider. The telemarketer said, he will just sent me details via post and told me to compare it with my chosen provider, which I agreed. I would really love to end the call but I don’t want to be rude.

Disgusting customer service
Have decided to change providers due to higher cost then with my previous provider, have been hounded by sales reps since changing over from 1st energy with up to 10calls a day, when i did finally answer, i listened to timothy ramble on why i should stay with them, i was polite and listened and kindly told him no thank you i will still be changing providers, he then became very rude and hung up on me. What a joke of a service. Iv seen other reviews of the se experience so definitely glad i am changing providers
Deceitful and Rude
Signed up with 1st energy after being cold called by a marketer, decided to switch back to AGL after doing some comparisons on pricing. 1st energy called me to try and prevent the switch, but I confirmed that I will be switching back to AGL anyways. After a short while with AGL, I found that my AGL account was closing and was switching back to 1st energy. I tried to switch back to AGL but got another prevention call from 1st energy, they were really pushy and blamed me for having authorised the switch. When I clearly stated it was my final decision to stay with AGL, the representative just said "I'm ending this call", and hung up.
Exceptionally rude, aggressive and bullying
I'm awarding one star because there is no option for zero! I recently decided to change to 1st energy from AGL but found a better deal shortly after with another company. So when AGL called in a bid to keep our business and offered us a really great discount unmatched by the other two providers of course I opted to stay put and not move at all. Who wouldn't? Enter 1st Energy at 8pm with one of the rudest "customer service operators" (I use the term loosely) I've had the misfortune of dealing with. The guy was aggressive and spoke over the top ...of me the whole time. He raised his voice and told me, and I quote, "It costs us hundreds of dollars to change you over and you just change straight back again". I said I had decided to stay with AGL and he rudely yelled that I wasn't with AGL, I'd signed with [the other company]. Of course I am well aware that I changed twice before ultimately staying with my original provider but it's my prerogative to choose any provider I like without being screamed at by an exceptionally rude and bullying phone boy. The whole call did little but make me extremely angry and prove that 1st Energy are a company I will never, EVER give my business to in the future. Well done ! If I were your boss I'd fire you. I can completely understand why all these shocking reviews are here.

They phoned not telling my husband who they were, he thought it was his normal provider not someone new.
I dont know how they had my details.
They phoned me again and I asked who are you are you auroa and they wouldnt tell me straight away, I told her im not intrested and to not contact me again, and I was mislead thinking it was Auroa.
They then CHANGED my account to join theirs without my permission
Dont talk to them.
I am now trying to get back to Aurora
We had pay as you go and I was in credit for this now Ive lost it.

What a bunch of scammers. Got a call from a woman telling me that they had arranged a discount on my power bill and asked how I would like to receive my welcome pack. I told her that I didn't want a welcome pack. She then transfered me to her supervisor who told me that they are going to sign me up because they had arranged a good discount for me. Not one to be intimidated I told him that I will not be signing up. He told me that I had to listen to him and that he would be signing me up. Well this was like a red rag to a bull for me. After a fe...w expletives I hung up on him. I looked up the number of 1st energy and called them to report what had happened (Customer Service – 1300 426 594, they told me to call back next week to make sure an account hasn't been opened. Stay away from this company. Scam scam scam
Very disappointed being an Australian owned company should look after your customers . Had an employer ring me up demanding me not to leave giving me a 28% discount on my bills if I stay. I refused and he in a way was harassing me to stay . I also asked him why was this bill $424.68 and the last two were over $1,000? He was explaining that it’s a mathematical issue. I told him again I am moving and he just hung up. I have never in my life ever been talked to in that manner . Well done !!!

Tried to scan me into a contract. Scripted pitch that made no sense. Could not call back the number they rang from. Told me I had a good payment history but did not know who I paid
Scammers and very rude
I have been cold called twice by very rude sales people. I live in Tasmania where there is only one energy provider and they still tried to tell me I could switch to them. Fortunately, I'm aware that this is not an option, but I wonder how many others end up paying money for nothing?
Rude overbearing attitude on the phone.
I was cold called and offered a good deal to change from AGL to First Energy so I accepted the offer. When I had a call from AGL they offered a better deal to stay with them so I changed back. Today I had a call from a very rude pushy person demanding that I stay with First Energy for a quarter to give them a chance. During the conversation I was told derogatory things about AGL tactics as well. When I said I wanted to check with AGL the conversation escalated with the bad attitude until I hung up. Whilst I understand that it is a very competitive market in electricity providers, First Energy is not doing itself any favours by being so rude and aggressive with customers.
Just don’t with this company
Do not work for this company. They’re dodgy, rude and don’t know what they’re doing. You’re better off working at Mcdonalds. Crappy enviroment. This had been the worst experience ever. Get stuffed 1st Energy!!
Absolute deceit and unethical!!!
BEWARE!!! I got a phone call from extremely pushy sales people.. I said I wasn’t interested, after badgering me further and asking for my credit card ( which I refused) I said they could send me information.. 3 weeks later I got a final bill from my existing provider!! When I rang up they said I had been changed to 1 st energy. I asked them to request it back and 1st energy refused!!
Rang 1 st energy and was told by a smug condescending girl that they had not received request from Alinta , and I must have consented to change my account.. WHICH I DID NOT!!! Talking with Ombudsman now ...BEWARE OF THIS DECEITFUL COMPANY!!!
Don’t use 1st energy
These guys called me to try and change me over to their company. I said send me info to peruse, they signed me up any way and was on the phone to them for over half an hour arguing with them. If they call you, hang up immediately. Bunch of scammers.
Bill was 5% less and didn't notice any other difference
I elected to have monthly billing and have had 2 bills so far. I like their website where I can log in and actually see the enemy consumption in 15min blocks. I actually work as an energy management consultant and have recommended them to many of my clients. I just signed myself up online so didn't have to deal with any of the salespeople.
Rude and pushy customer service. The power was fine but never recieved a discount so my power was 25% more expensive over the 6 months I stayed with First energy. When I tried to connect with a different provider I recieved 3 or more calls a day from First energy using bully tactics and at one stage even had a man shouting at me because I refused to stay with them. Very bad experience.
Absolute SCAM! Avoid at all cost. Bill went up 500%
Worst service I’ve ever received. Absolute insidious business practices. Don’t fall for the promises, it’s a scam, they need to be shut down. I wish I checked these reviews before getting rorted.
Rude, dishonest and more expensive
I received a call about switching to first energy, I had never heard of them so said I wasn't looking to change but when asked if they could send some information I said yes and never heard anything else. 6 months later I received a bill from them, thinking it was a scam I investigated and upon realising they had changed me over I complained and was told someone would investigate and call me back. No one ever did, so I called again and demanded someone look into my call. The operator returned and said "I can confirm you didn't state that you de...finitely didn't want to switch to 1st energy". That was all they would say and refused to play me the recording, they also said that if I didn't pay my bill that day I would lose my discount and my service would be cut off. I insisted on obtaining the sales recording and told them that I'd call the ombudsman if they refused. They agreed to send the recording via email if I paid immediately, so I did and ofcourse the recording never arrived. I immediately switched back to Alinta then received the very rude sales call telling my why I should stay with 1st energy and he kept talking over me. When I confirmed that I definitely wanted to leave their company, he said "fine" and hung up... it's the new billing period and I've just received a bill from 1st energy. Extremely unprofessional, dishonest and more expensive than all my previous service providers- they wont be getting anymore money from me and for an Australian company I'm very unimpressed.
Intrusive, pushy identity thieves.
Very bad experience with this company. Firstly the lady was very pushy and spoke down to me like i didn't understand what she was saying when i told her numerous times i don't want to sign up to anything and she can feel free to send me more info BUT i will not be signing up/registering at all. She then put her 'supervisor' on the line to ask me incredibly personal information including asking for my Medicare details and drivers license numbers (pretty much identify theft). After me saying to him NO he cannot, he then tried to talk down to me ...while explaining he was just trying to make sure i was a citizen because people come into Australia to visit/study and don't leave. Laughable. Told him i was born here and lived here my entire life, not sure if the same could be said for him. Rude, intrusive, pushy, taking personal identity information when there is no requirement for it, im gonna go with NO!!
Quick and efficient online response
I recently joined Energy First and had a Query about the electricity bill paymeny. While I was looking at their website, an online chat box poped up and I asked my question from the online customer service. She was very efficient and quickly set up a direct debit within a few minutes.

As a Tasmanian resident, I was excited to hear that a second player was coming to the table in the electricity market as Aurora energy had the Monopoly. Boy oh boy these guys missed the mark completely. I made a call to customer service to ask some questions and get a quote. I encountered nothing more than rude disgusting pushy service, and as soon as I attempted to back down and tell them I wasn't interested they were extremely verbal. Once they had my number, they attempted to call again and again. I felt so burdened by this experience that I...called aurora energy to get them to put a hold on my account as I was concerned that 1st energy we're simply going to hijack my account. This company has no ethics, customer service sucks, and whoever works for this company are a bunch of scammers to say the least. I truly don't know how 1st energy is still operating. Furthermore I don't know how the energy regulator hasn't stept in to shut these guys down. I truly wish someone had the balls to report them. As far as I'm concerned anybody considering this company needs to give them a wide berth. They are nothing but trouble.
"Agreed" to let the salesman quote me, next minute I am signed up - BEWARE !
On the second visit I agreed to let the salesman quote me so i could see where we can save a dollar, next minute he has signed me up and he is asking me to agree to a "check" over the phone, when I pulled him up he claims i didnt ask him for a quote (I had witnesses) then he said he cancelled it, I get an email welcoming me to 1st Energy. I called the call center and sure enough he had done it the slippery little bugger, I had to cancel and even the call center guy agreed the sales team are dodgy ! STAY WELL CLEAR !
Disconnection and Reconnection fees; More the Merrier
I joined One Energy in late December and when we moved houses (please note that we just moved close by our old place) we were forced to pay a disconnection and reconnection fee after we move( more that $290 for disconnection and around $11 for reconnection fee). And after the discount (25%) we sti had to pay double of what we payed before (we had AGL prior to this). This energy company is a scam and basically is the EA of the electricity world (meaning that this is a scam, and a total crap). Do not join unless you are elon musk loaded.

Welcome to Tasmania 1st Energy- NOT- Seven cold calls in 4 days, pushy, will not listen, always wanting ID information. Finally told the caller we had a family crisis and waiting for ambulance- his response was it will only take 3/4 minutes to sign up and i could do so while I waited for ambulance.

Competitive rates, poor service
Set up with ALINTA, very good to start until you have to contact them which is a dog chasing tail. Emails with customer service so had a name however you can not talk to them as their Philippines call center refused to put you through & very arrogant. Alinta had failed to load my seniors discount for 2 billing cycles. At first said it was my fault but I had proof, then said that my number was wrong. Finally they admitted that it was not put in on their end, all of this has been 3 weeks arguing. Alinta rely on a third company for energy & meter reading & could not answer some questions, why a 83% increase when same household 2pax, mtr behind gates so not read. Not good when Alinta are the provider. William

Who owns 1st energy , ie to whom are dividends or profits sent to. I have been told there is a link to Indian business concerns, is this correct??
Hi irc, no that is not correct. 1st Energy was started by 4 individuals - 2 who are Melbourne born and bread and the other 2 who are New Zealand born and bread. In 2016, 1st Energy sold a small share of the business to ERM Power who are in Brisbane. If you would like any further clarification, please let me know. Many thanks Sarah

That's great to hear. We do hear a lot of stories about us being connected to China and all over the place but nope, all our staff are based in Australia. I'm not sure where all these stories originate from but I'm glad you asked and gave us the chance to set the record straight on this occasion.
