My mentally ill partner was approached by this company while I was at work.
They literally took our solar account without our verbal or written consent. We never received a notice regarding a cooling-off period - which, conveniently for them, was during the Christmas/New Year period when we away. Worst Service Ever
They changed to first energy without my consent itself first of all. So I switched to my previous energy provider again. They called from customer care and were so rude about my transfer which is absolutely ridiculous. First try to provide some genuine service more than your stupid offers
Moved me over with no consent
This company has changed my power service to them with out consent. Now I have to stop the transfer before I end up somewhere I do not want to be. This seems like a dodgy thing to have done.

Everyone, never use 1st energy. They are going to scam you out. My monthly payment was around 100-150 and suddenly they sent me an invoice of over 1000$. I called to asked and they just said that it may probably be due to faulty appliances. Ridiculous!!!
This was a very profitable change for me
Mine is domestic service, with solar feedback and pensioner discount. The service is everything expected when I changed companies and I am very pleased with my change to 1st Energy.

I received an email from the company thanking for switching to 1st Energy when I didn't have any utilities under my name. The customer service centre was unable to provide how it happened wanted to confirm my date of birth in order to cancel the account I hadn't open myself in the first place!
What a terrible scammer!

Great, reliable service
I have had electricity connected for 8 months with 1st Energy and have been very satisfied. I was previously with Aurora Energy. The sign-up process was very easy and connection went without a hitch. On the times I have had to call customer service I have found them to be very helpful and with only minimal time spent on hold.
I find the billing system effective and like the fact that there are many payment methods bills, however I do find the online customer portal can be a little slow at times. Maybe this can be improved in the future.
Something not right here!
I received an unsolicited voice message today on my mobile, that made little sense, as I had not signed up to 1st Energy, and had not, at any time, provided my contact details. Yet the msg said I should have received my contract and should check my folders including junk folder and that I had 10 days to cool off. I tried to return call to query it but could not connect as number just cut off. Being concerned someone had signed us up without our permission, I then looked up 1st Energy and rang the number in their web image to ask to speak t...o someone about why I’d received this strange message, but the young girl answering said she could not help without me providing all of my details. I refused politely and telephonist said she couldn’t help me because she is in “customer service“ and not Sales. Very strange as she would not transfer me without all of my details. I explained politely that I had no interest in moving to them and advised we did not request this, and have a great discount with our current provider and have no intention of moving our facilities across. She would not transfer me without all of my details. I explained that if I discovered my electricity and gas services were moved across to them without my request or consent, I would take the case to the Ombudsman, then I politely rang off. Is this common for 1st Energy. It feels like a scam. I will contact my provider and advise them what has happened and request they do not move us if a request comes from an outside party.
We've been using their services from past 2 years and there was no change in the amount of bill we pay as it was around $150 always. All of a sudden we received a bill of $470 which left me shell shocked. After talking to them on phone and asking why we received such an outrageous amount as bill they informed us that it's the result of EXTRA usage. we didn't even stay at home whole day during the month. This is completely unacceptable.
Con artists, deceitful and liars.
My mother was contacted by 1st energy today. I listened to the phone call via loudspeaker. They told her that she was an existing customer, and that they were representing Alinta energy. When she asked and clarified this, they confirmed they were from Alinta. They instructed that she did not have to sign any contract, or give any authorisation apart from over the phone quickly. They constantly bombarded her with phonecalls, 12 times, after she asked them not to call her again, but to call her son, who she authorised. They read back the number a...nd confirmed they had the correct phone number for my contact, and still proceeded to call her back and refuse to speak to me. When i called, they told me they were creating her account, and that they were sending through the authorisation forms. After i instructed them that there would be no sale, no transfer, and nothing at all, they were still trying to get her to read their forms and see if she was interested. I instructed them that i would be taking further action if they continued to call, and to get the message to all of their staff immediately that she is not to be contacted. She was immediately contacted at the conclusion of my phonecall. Reading all the reviews on the internet about this company says that they are pushy and rude, and i have experienced that first hand tonight. If this is any indication of what this company represents in Australia, do not give them your business. These people are trying to scam us, and twist words, and are dishonest. They should not be a legal company in Australia, they should be ashamed. I feel bad giving 1 star, because they don't even deserve that.
Pushy sales and didn't even know the product
I'm in Tasmania and an Indian gentleman showed up on the door wanting to talk about how they could help us save energy. I looked through their rates and noticed a lot of their pricing was quoted 'ex GST' and told them that I was happy with the Auora+ plan we are on and not interested. He said he'd email me some details and I gave him my trash address I give out to scammers like this. I then come and read some of these reviews and noticed that they appear to use this email tactic a some kind of "evidence" that you want to swap.
I instantly cal...led Auora who were ALL to familiar with the company and they have a dedicated team to handle these guys. They have made a note on my account to say that if a request comes through to NOT make the change as we have not authorized anything. I suggest even if you just get contacted, call your current provider and do the same thing.
Customer Service Not Great
There was a whole big situation I won't go into but it involved a lot of misleading and perhaps not factual information and as a result, we wanted to cancel the account we set up but were told they couldn't do it straight away and it might take days to investigate. Thankfully it has been resolved but not before Ombudsman complaint raised. There is a lot the public apparently doesn't understand about power suppliers and who holds the rights to your property for power supply. In this instance, First Energy were technically 'in the right' but a lot of unnecessary angst was caused by not checking databases etc. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else!
Do not go with this rip off company...Gov should close them down
I went with this company my bills are over 50 percent higher..Over 800 for two adults not using heaters..compared with 300 Alinta ...This was for Electricy only Absolutely disgusted in this company's charges.Time to contact the obusman
1st Energy rip off
I transfeered to 1st Energy with the belief if would save me money. I was charged double what I was with AGL. When contacted I was told to have an electrician check my house. Then told to to have my solar checked. Then I was told my usage for this period was unusually high that I must have had more people in my home at this time.
My usage according to 1st energy was what a 5 person house hold would normally use.
I transferred back to AGLmy bill had my usage at between 1 and 2 people.
We actually have 3 adults living at home.
Solar electricity and gas hot water and cooking.
If this is what an Australian based Company does to its customers.
It's not a good advertisement.
Avoid this company and for heaven's sake do NOT engage in a conversation with anyone from 1st Energy.
This company switched my energy without my permission. The customer service reps became abusive with me when I attempted to switch back. I was called a liar when I explained that I'd not agreed to switch and called an idiot for wanted to switch back to my original provider. It was the worst experience I've ever had with any service provider.
First Energy Acts Illegally
First energy acts illegally. They changed over our energy bill without our permission then wouldn’t let us change back to origin. After all our dealings with them were finally over my boyfriend said he got a call from MY Facebook messanger and it was First Energy on the line. I had to go and change my passwords.
Scammers!!! Watch out!!!
Watch out!!! Scammers!!! I applied for an account and was rejected but still got billed for the connection! Asked them to drop the bill but they LIED ([name removed] in support) and told me that they couldn't do anything about it and to take it up with TasNetworks. Called TasNetworks only to be told that it's 1stEnergys jurisdiction as to what they want to do with the invoice. Have reported them to Department of Fair Trading and would encourage everyone that has problems with them to do the same. https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/

We tried this company for cheaper electricity however when we revamped our solar power we changed to a company that have better buy back rates. They were extremely awkward to deal with to get connected in the first place but when we changed provider they began to ring my wife 10-15 times a day. I answered the phone one time and was told that we hadn’t changed provider and it wasn’t as simple as that. He then told
Me it was none of my business and didn’t care if I was her husband before demanding to know when my wife would be available to talk. They do nothing but harass and abuse once you opt to go with someone else. Keep clear of them.

Illegal? Avoid this company
1st Energy stole my account from Origin without my knowledge. Origin account was in my name not my husbands but my husband had authority on the account. 1st Energy transferred it into my husbands name without his knowledge. He always receives unsolicited calls and tells them he’s not interested. The first we noticed was when we didn’t receive a debit from origin to our account. I rang Origin and they advised my husband had transferred to 1st Energy. Uhh no he didn’t. Two weeks now after requesting Origin transfer it back and that 1st Energy can...cel our account. No news from 1st Energy but Origin advise that 1st Energy have denied their request to transfer back to Origin. Looks like the Ombudsman has to get involved and maybe a Current Affairs. What if they have done this to vulnerable elderly Australians?
Should be illegal
1st Energy took over our electricity without our knowledge or permission. How is this allowed to happen? We received a 'last bill' from AGL and when I rang to ask what was gong on, they told me we had changed to a new company (which we hadn't) but wouldn't tell me who because my name is not the account holder. Account holder was not here so I was stuck with it. After several months of okay bills we have now been charged almost TRIPLE the normal amount for one month. When my husband rang she claimed the meter had been read but that is impossible...as they cannot access the meter without being given entry. She then said it had been an estimate. Shouldn't an estimate follow the pattern of usual usage? Reading all the reviews I cannot believe they are allowed to continue. Will be changing tomorrow.

I got a phone call around June 20th. Chatted to a guy (Indian) and he had all my information...address, emails, phone etc etc.
He said that 1st Energy had better deals etc etc than who I was with. I said I am not interested, but he insisted on sending an information pack. I said, OK, but I am not interested.
Fast forward to June 27th....I get an email from my current provider. "We are sorry to see you go" Ummm....what??!!
I rang my current provider and told them that I did not in any way give permission to leave and so on. I am happy with yo...u! Today I get a letter from my current provider and talked to them. I now have to prove I did not ask for the new service and from this week I will be with 1st Energy. So now I have to fight these morons and get back to my current provider.
OMG Cant Believe we have such deceptive people in Business
I was being HOUNDED several times a day by 1st Energy caller. I told them I wasn't interested but the just hounded me to the point as they called I kept blocking the number, hoping they would run our of phone line .But they obviously didn't. The last call I said I would talk to my Husband (just to get them off my back) The next thing I new our power had been changed and I received a Bill. I rang and told them that this wasn't the case I hadn't signed or agreed to anything ...and the man on the phone was not only rude but aggressive TELLING ME w...e owed. I hung up on him. We did receive a Bill but I didn't pay it as the dates they were quoting were totally inaccurate......it was dated around the same time they started harassing me....I was getting texts from them with no $$ amounts. My last text was to say that if I don't pay they will send my account to "Debt Collection Agency" thinking this would scare me into paying for there scam. But too bad so sad ...they can stick their bill...They may not be aware but I have spoken to my brother who is a Solicitor and he is ready to go to battle with these morons if need be.
Very slick sales pitch, but when you ask for names and want to check facts they won't answer the questions.
Just got a call from a 'private number' (immediate suspicion) claiming they would 'register me for a government discount' on my electricity bill. When I asked 'register with who?' the operator ignored my question and carried on with the spiel. I asked again - same response. When I said I would hang up if she didn't say who, she said she was from an independent electricity broker but would not give me a name. Eventually, she said that she could see (without any information from me) that my best rate would be with 1st Energy and she would reg...ister me for the discount with 1st Energy. I told her I didn't want her to do that and asked for more information. She wouldn't answer any questions directly and when I kept pressing for details she gave up. Obviously a scam, and I suspect 1st Energy might be employing these people themselves, but without it being traced back to them. If not, they should find out who is doing it and stop them because it makes 1st Energy look like scammers. By the way, if you are leaving a review, be aware that 1st Energy is a billing company. Chances are your electricity supply is, and will continue to be, provided by a different company, and they would be responsible for the installation and the reliability of your supply. The bullet points Product Review wants you to consider (above) are largely irrelevant when reviewing a company like 1st Energy that merely sends your electricity bills.
AVOID FIRST ENERGY
Got a call from a promoter asking if Id like to to compare rates to save money. I was assured that my exisiting account with AGL will be safe and not closed which I though was pretty good at the time. It got to the point where a month later I got a call from a VERY rude staff member in their customer service department and was very sarcastic and demanding money. I was totally confused at this stage as I had just paid my due bill to AGL and I asked the gentleman to please help explain to me why he believes he can speak to me in such a rude and u...nprofessional manner and clarify what the situation is. They made the whole process so draining and difficult and I told them if there are any charges owning to let me pay for it so I can close m account with them and stay with my provider-AGL. He then said he will not tell me how much is owing and I sent a complaint to their head office. To fix the situation they told me I will not owe a cent and if Id like to continue with them or stay with AGL. I told them I want to stay with AGL and to please never contact me again as First energy made things so stress full and every operator I spoke to told me that they do not have anyone promoting their sales and whoever I spoke to did not offer me a trial to compare the rates. First energy are the biggest scams ever. Fast forward to 3months today I get a call saying theres an exisiting amount that needs to be paid. Please do not sign up with First Energy. Very rude and very unprofessional. They do not care about potential customers or existing customers. Everyone wants a simple process and this was far beyond that.
