"Agreed" to let the salesman quote me, next minute I am signed up - BEWARE !
On the second visit I agreed to let the salesman quote me so i could see where we can save a dollar, next minute he has signed me up and he is asking me to agree to a "check" over the phone, when I pulled him up he claims i didnt ask him for a quote (I had witnesses) then he said he cancelled it, I get an email welcoming me to 1st Energy. I called the call center and sure enough he had done it the slippery little bugger, I had to cancel and even the call center guy agreed the sales team are dodgy ! STAY WELL CLEAR !
Disconnection and Reconnection fees; More the Merrier
I joined One Energy in late December and when we moved houses (please note that we just moved close by our old place) we were forced to pay a disconnection and reconnection fee after we move( more that $290 for disconnection and around $11 for reconnection fee). And after the discount (25%) we sti had to pay double of what we payed before (we had AGL prior to this). This energy company is a scam and basically is the EA of the electricity world (meaning that this is a scam, and a total crap). Do not join unless you are elon musk loaded.
Avoid This Energy Provider
Welcome to Tasmania 1st Energy- NOT- Seven cold calls in 4 days, pushy, will not listen, always wanting ID information. Finally told the caller we had a family crisis and waiting for ambulance- his response was it will only take 3/4 minutes to sign up and i could do so while I waited for ambulance.
How did Tassie end up with this lot. Not wanted
Competitive rates, poor service
Set up with ALINTA, very good to start until you have to contact them which is a dog chasing tail. Emails with customer service so had a name however you can not talk to them as their Philippines call center refused to put you through & very arrogant. Alinta had failed to load my seniors discount for 2 billing cycles. At first said it was my fault but I had proof, then said that my number was wrong. Finally they admitted that it was not put in on their end, all of this has been 3 weeks arguing. Alinta rely on a third company for energy & meter reading & could not answer some questions, why a 83% increase when same household 2pax, mtr behind gates so not read. Not good when Alinta are the provider. William
Occasional Energy, and frequent rorting.
I very reluctantly agreed to change from my current supplier to First Energy. This was because they offered a 25% discount, which was the highest I had ever seen. A week before the meter was due to be read I received a letter stating that my rates were increasing, by over 10%. To justify this they attached a chart of wholesale energy showing rates actually going down. I can only presume the majority of customers did not check this. You have to be a genuine rorter to increase your costs before the customer has even started with you. They even ha...d a special section handling calls from consumers who are aware they had been ripped off. January 8th 2019 Update: Occasional Energy frequent rorting I reluctantly changed my Electricity suppler to 1st Energy because of a 25% discount offered, which was the highest I had ever seen. A week before the transfer was to take place I received notice of an increase which I calculated at over 10%. When I contacted them they even had a special section to handle new price increase complaints . It takes some gall to increase prices to customers even before they have started with you. I presume large amounts of customers did not even check , which is why the energy industry makes that banks look relatively honest..
I feel like a fool!
I usually say "not interested" when door knockers come by, but for some reason I agreed to switch to 1st Energy last year. All the "discounts" that they apparently applied looked very appealing (more fool me!). The first bill was a little high but I expected that with the switch. The second bill was very high again, but they are tricky in making you pay $50 per month so that the bill you get doesn't look so bad every quarter. I went back over my previous supplier's 7 bills and I was averaging $180 per quarter for myself and my then 4-5 year...old son. I am a single mum (one young child) living in a 2 bedroom small duplex with solar hot water. The most recent 1st Energy bill was $318.00!!!! I rang today to query this and I was offered no other reason than it was an average bill and did not seem excessive to them. My usage is 6.6kw/per day which she said was LESS than the average 1 person home. I would hate to see what a family of 4 would be getting slogged with. I paid my bill and switched back to AGL straight away. Do not sign up with them! Do not get sucked in like I did. They overcharge excessively to the point it is almost criminal. Find another provider!
I joined first energy 6 months ago. My first bill was over $100 more than I'd paid in years. When I contacted them, they just said I probably used more power than normal and that it would 'level out'. Second bill was the same, they scam u by offering 28% discount if u pay on time, but daily service charge was over double I'd paid before. Changing companies today, they're just a rip off ☹
Bunch of chancers
Watch out people !! A pushy salesman turned up at our door just after we got home from work, spoke to my partner about rates etc and the next thing we knew we get an email from our existing provider saying sorry you're leaving. I contacted 1st who said sorry too late, that we had signed up with them and that they had sent us a "Welcome package" via email (which we never received and they don't seem to be able to prove) I demanded they remove us but they've sent us a high final bill - happy to see the back of them
The worst customer service I have ever received!
I was pushed into switching to 1st energy from AGL then had a bad gut feeling so decided to stay with AGL. I then received a phone call from 1st national trying to convince me to stay, I explained I wanted to stay with AGL and I was offered a good deal from AGL. I was then yelled and argued with from the 1st energy consultant for over ten minutes until I hung up. They are rude pushy, unprofessional, and I don’t know how good their deals actually are.
Disgusting energy cheats
They are disgusting kept pushing and pushing telling me they would give a good deal asking for drivers licence and Medicare card a lot of rubbish everyone should get together and see someone to stop this happening again
I can't believe this is LEGAL!?!
Cold called in May, offered me 25% pay on time discount. I acceptedthen spike with my original supplier, they offered me 28% so i stayed with original..... 3months later, they take my account I got a "final bill" from my provider.... I called, I grumbled, I was assured I was their customer... All good, right?. No! I get a bill... I've never seen because I apparently requested an online bill (I DONT DO online bills) I'm told it took 3 months because they had to wait until the end of the billing cycle of my original carrier..... I call my origina...l carrier..... They're investigating.... 1st call me back, promise me a paper bill (doesn't come) I get a call today from some Aussie man demanding payment I apparently owe $100... For some "smothing" I ain't never heard of.... I said until I get a paper bill I'm not paying a bloody thing, honey..... He got quite snippy with me.... I have demanded a copy of the recording... (shock horror not gotten that either) this cannot be legal! I will be seeking legal advise... I do not remember signing up with them at all....id NEVER EVER agree to on line billing..... NEVER! Is there an ombudsman we can go to about this?
If I could leave negative stars, I would.
Do not ever go with First Energy Australia for your electricity. My bill has never been more expensive. After promising me cheaper bills, they repeatedly failed on that promise. My bills continued to get higher yet we have less people living at home and out house is tiny. There are much cheaper options out there.
Forced switch with no consent
First... Was notified by existing provider that 1st energy have taken over citing that "the owner" i.e. myself made a request to switch (that I never made)
Second... Immediately asked my existing provider to take the billing back and get sorted out later
Third... Received a bill addressed to "The Occupier" that is double my existing rate, with no discount.
Just tell me why I shouldn't report you guys to Consumer Affairs already
My bill went from $270 (Energy Australia) to $428 with 1st energy. This company is such a joke.
Not happy! Going back to Energy Australia
Electric 2 years 1st energy put rates up three times in the first year to make them nearly 30% dearer than competitors. The first increase was in the first two month. We begged for relief they said we were on there best rate. Don't trust anything they say!!!!
Unscrupulous in their nature. 1st Energy present under the guise of giving you some information about energy prices for you to compare. Next thing you know they SIGN you up without your permission. They caused me all sorts of stress. I had to cancel my account with them as I NEVER SIGNED UP and then I had to contact my existing energy provider so that my electricity would not be cut. 1st Energy just gave me a whole lot of STRESS that I didn't need. Do yourself a favour and hangup on them if they contact you.
No stars to 1st Energy. This web page required a rating though in order to submit. Discovered last week that 1st Energy had taken over my electricity supply account without my permission. I doubt that is legal. Avoid them.
DO NOT SIGN UP! THEY USE 3RD PARTY SALESPEOPLE TO GET YOUR SENSITIVE INFORMATION.
They use a third-party seller (most likely SwitchandSave) and, hence, you cannot cancel anything via 1st Energy directly, until your information gets through to the actual 1st Energy company. How it was: a door-to-door salesman enticed a family member to sign up with a no-obligation 10-day cooling off period, 30% on-time payment discount and 80$ off your previous average bill su. Straight away got a phone call from 3rd party saleswoman who got the driver's license number, concession card details, previous energy provider, average sum on the bil...l. When 20 minutes later (after a bit of online researching) we called to 1st Energy to cancel, they said they cannot do anything because the information went to 3rd party salespeople and we have to wait till they get our information into their system and we better call by the end of the week (since it's Thursday, I guess at the end of the next week?). Very negative experience from the get-go. When it sounds too good to be true, trust your common sense.
Bad news written all over it. We had the usual indian cold call but this one was different as they were polite!! He tried to collect info from me like who my current electricity provider was. He gave me the customer service phone number for Melbourne and the website to show me they had a legit front. When I asked for his direct number, thats when all the excuses came. So I told him I'll do some background checks and call him back. This is when he said that he'll miss out on his commission if I don't sign up today. So as you can tell its a scam through and through.
On another note the Indian scammers are ramping things up lately as we get about 4 calls per day!!!! THANKS Telstra for selling our info to third parties......
This is a SCAM!!!!
I was cold called, assured that they were Australian company, but wanted licence number, Medicare card number, all the things you need for identity theft.. There is No need for that to swap over or join a utility company. Rang me 4 times after I refused. Very suspicious. Stay away. Phone no came up as. unknown.
Predators. Caught my wife at a vulnerable time while in hospital and berated her to change. I have informed my energy provider to ignore and if I get no satisfaction I will be calling the ombudsman.
Cold Call Requesting too Much Unnecessary Information:
Received a cold call 08/09/2018. Initial offer looked good, but I take up offers that are in writing, and are presented as "offers to treat". Caller wanted DOB, and also asked for licence and or Medicare card number. Refused requests as he would then have sufficient information for identity fraud.
Requested caller email offer and conditions to me. I suspect hell will freeze over before I receive an email.
Call left me with the feeling that this was an attempted scam.
Never signed up, had the wrong address (how?) all of a sudden got a $150 bill, being an extra $60 than our usual monthly bill with AGL. Was incredibly difficult to transfer back to AGL, was told that they somehow managed to get my card details (which was untrue) so they would charge me for 3 months if i changed energy companies. Stay away.
Please beware with this company, POOR customer. Insistent calls from them but when you want to talk to them, they can not be contacted.
2 calls. Both very insistent. Would not take no for an answer.
Unsolicited cold call(s). Initially probing questions and checking details with me. Wanted Date of Birth. Then promising 43% discount on a bill he had not seen, nor knew the cost of. Wanted to know what solar in-feed rate I was getting. I would not say. Kept guessing facts about me. Very insistent on a very poor phone line. I politely explained I was going to hang up as I had to go, and then ranted at me me non stop not to hang up. Very assertive indeed. My suggestion is NOT TO give DOB as it is possibly part of a trawl for identity theft.
