This bank is a playground for scammers
I received an u solicited debit card at my residential address. When I contacted 86400 they said my drivers license had been used to open the account online. My license was not physically lost but somehow scammers got hold of a digital copy & were able to open an account online using only this 1 identity document. I don’t have an issue with this when a person is opening an account in person. I am disgusted that this is all that is required to open an account where no one is verifying that this is the actual person. They told AFCA I had no ...right to complain about this as I did not open an account with them as this was done because of identity theft. HELLO IDIOTS, your minimal requirements for opening a bank account online caused this to happen. I have had to change my license, do police reports, block my credit reports & complain to AFCA. I will now be complaining to AUSTRAC who are meant to fight fraudulent activity.
Can't even open an account
Couldn't even get an account open as the system wouldn't recognise my Medicare card which has never had any issues before. Only other ID options are passport and licence which I don't have. Result: can't bank there as there's no other way for them to verify my identity.
Stay Away now that they are owned by NAB
Joined 86400 after more than 35 years as a NAB customer and having some little twirp tell me if I didn't send them updated identity documents by the end of the day they would lock my account for all transactions until I complied. Wouldn't allow me to talk to his Manager and said if I didn't like it to close my account.
So went online joined 86400 and closed my NAB accounts same day. Initial impressions were good, signup was easy, app worked and card was delivered in a week. Wife experience a slight issue with payroll as they had to update the...ir system to cater for the 86400 BSB, otherwise had been working flawlessly with no need to contact them. Then within months NAB launched bid to takeover 86400 and eliminate competition. How ACCC and APRA think the buyout of all these newcomers by the big four promotes competition is beyond me, clearly the big end of town keeps greasing the right palms. Now that NAB has taken the reigns I am not surprised things are going downhill with this bank as per recent reviews. Will never deal with another NAB company ever again and not hanging around to cop same treatment. Steer clear of NAB related companies.
Technical difficulties & blocks
I joined because I heard it had good interest. 1.2%. To receive a physical card took a lot longer than they said but wasn't a big deal. To get this interest I tried sending money to this bank and EVERY TIME I tried sending more than $1 to this bank my NAB bank would get blocked. This happened repeatedly and took so much time and fuss to unblock my other acc. I went in in-person to NAB and the woman there said for some reason it must not like this bank sending money to the 86 400 bank? Which makes no sense! Because NAB own this bank! So frustrat...ing. I've tried to buy things online with it and for some unknown reason is not working. Also when I go into the app it shuts out a lot and has errors and basically a lot of technical difficulty to the point i'm wondering is this even worth it anymore because i'm getting no benefits from this account. I'm probably going to end it.
I had unauthorised transactions on my card and saw them go through on my app.. I immediately rang cancelled card and 86400 done nothing to get the funds back.. useless mob.. I have had this happen with ANZ and noticed days after and had money returned in a week.. stay away from this bank
Very impressed with customer service
I have been with 86400 for two months, after switching from ING due to increased hurdles for bonus interest on savings.
86400 is app-only, with no internet banking. This is a minor shortfall.
The customer service experience more than makes up for this. Today I raised an issue by email about a disputed transaction on a Sunday afternoon, and received a phone call within two hours explaining they would raise a dispute with the retailer.
There are occasional outages due to upgrades, but I am very pleased so far.
Not accepting Temporary residents and generic assumptions about us
I wanted to open a bank account and they said I am not eligible since they are only accepting PRs or Australian Citizens. The call sounded discriminative saying well we are not equipped for your international transfers already assuming I would do it. All I wanted was for a bank account for my savings and smart transactions.
I have friends thay hold accounts as Temporary residents and it has clearly proven that they are not full fledged and equipped as a usual bank.

I just processed my home loan through 86 400. Was the most easy, seamless process I have ever been through, particularly after hearing some horror stories of others and how long it took to process. Also received $2,000 cash back into my account.
Not a bank you can trust anymore.
This bank has a lot of issues these day after they have been taken over by NAB. For example they are asking people to post of social media a photo to earn $50 from the banking app for a competition that has already ended. It used to be good and had some standards. Now they are devious and find ways to get cheap publicity online to stay afloat.
Don't bother for home loan
Have had a home loan with them for a few years, were fabulous and I am a typical single women being employed in contract world so big banks don't want to know me. They simply looked at my employment history with no breaks in work for over two decades. Tried to access my equity (just under $200k) after saving a deposit for an investment property, rejected because I am on contract work. Didn't include the fact in the last 13 months I am earning double what I have in the past when i got a home loan three times what I wanted for an investment. Clearly NAB policies already kicking in and gender discrimination filtering.
Home loans- a waste of time- don't even try
I bank with 86400. I wanted to go with them for a home loan. What a waste of time. They are slower than a snail. Provided them all the documents they required, financial savings, income, employment. I have savings of about 250k and zero debt liability. Still they keep coming back each week for additional documents, some that were already submitted.Had to remind them they were already sent Finally after 6 weeks advised loan pre- approved and will get written confirmation in few days. Still nothing after a week.On checking advised I will have it...in a day. After 4 days get a call the loan cannot be approved as 86400 have no money and low ourselves. What a scam, soon dodgy. Just avoid. Luckily I had a pretty approval through another lender or I would have been in distress due to 86400's poor management and lack of customer empathy.
home loans: you're taking on more risk than them
You're taking on more risk by employing the services of 86 400 than they are risking in lending to you. After more than a month of give every assurance a credit application would be approved, with a 30% deposit, working full time hours on casual contract for 8 months, low spending and a stellar credit rating, it was knocked back on the basis of 'not having worked in my role for 6 months', even though I had. Okay, if you have super strict lending policy, that's one thing. But the amount of time it's taken getting a response from them, from the m...isspelt emails to the constant assurances that it would be approved in just a few more days, to the total lack of communication about why the application was really declined, 86 400 is really, truly, awful. Avoid at all costs.
Started off ok, but then started blocking my account relentlessly
First 3 or 4 months were fine, however the last few months have been nothing but blocks placed on my account. Can't send more than $1000 at a time unless you call them, then they decide to be the judge of who you are allowed to send money.
The best lender
Just joined 86400 4 months but my experience so far with the bank is excellent. Excellent in customer service and the app is easy to use and money can be transferred in seconds. 86400 is the best lender in comparison the the other banks I had before. Well done 86400 and you deserve my 5 starts.
Card hacked; Fraudulent transaction made - they don't have a transaction block feature
used for hardly one month, my card was used for a fraudulent transaction. Called customer support and they said they don't have a transaction block feature and can only raise a dispute. They have blocked my card though. Now I am without a card and need to wait 30 days to get my money back (if I get it). Good that I did not close my other bank account and waited for sometime before jumping ships.

You can't. There are no bank branches and are not supported through Australia Post.
I rarely use cash. Cash is nearly obsolete.
I received a card in the mail no instruction no information and no idea how come it arrived.
If you did not apply for it, I would be wary of fraud.
