AJ Grant Group (page 2 of 2)
I only got half of my roof replaced
I also was forced into using AJ Grant, due to being insured with NRMA and having another quote knocked back because it was more expensive than AJ Grant's. I have nothing but huge regrets. They try to skip around the issue, saying that I 'agreed to the scope of works', which was in industry-specific jargon and did not remotely give me any indication that only part of my roof was being replaced. They even went so far as to ask me what colour I wanted. No graphic diagrams of what was being replaced. No phone calls to confirm I understood the ...
Read moreterms of the scope of works. Just get in, slap it on and then refer back to the policy and scope of works, due to me living 900kms away from the job and relying only on a photograph of the house from the front, which didn't show the back roof of the house. As previously discussed in other reviews, they opt for the cheapest solution, giving me the impression that there is some back door deal with NRMA to keep costs down to maintain the contract, because I cannot see any other way that NRMA would want to associate themselves with them. I am escalating the matter to the Ombudsman, due to their misleading conduct.- 9 reviews

Absolute horror to deal with
This company is contracted to NRMA so I had no choice but to use them. It has now been nearly 9 months since the insurance incident and the work has still not been completed.
They get the cheapest possible solution, accept shoddy work, lie about the building requirements, send people around without making appointments then say the homeowner was not available and the list goes on.
I now have a double glazed door that does not close properly and lets air in around the frame but this is apparently OK with AJ Grant and with NRMA as well.
I don't know why any insurer would want to have this company ruining their name. I am now looking for an insurer that does not use AJ Grant.
Useless and still I’m roofless

Unprofessional Duplicitous, falsehood.
On 12 April 2018, CommInsure sent an AJ Grant representative to conduct a detailed assessment of damages to my property after a severe wind event in February 2018 caused significant damage to my roof, smashed my satellite dish, blew away my cooker rooftop vent and minor damages to some internal wall. the builder that arrived after looking at the damages stated he was positive that the damage was as a result of the storm and he couldn't understand why CommInsure was delaying. He added that he had attended a similar situation in the vicinity and ...
Read morethe Insurer (not CommInsure) had fixed the roof without any questions. He asked me for a tape measure and took some measurements of the tarpped roof area. He then assured me that he would get the roof fixed and I was to leave the matter with him. He asked for information relating to CommInsure's declining the claim which I discussed with and showed to him. In the presence of a witness he again repeated that he would get the roof repaired and said he would get back to me by the 16 April 2018. He asked for copy of other documents relating to the building which I did not give to him. I heard nothing from either CommInsure or their contractor so on 26 April 2018, I referred the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service. CommInsure was supposed to let me have a response to my complaint to the Ombudsman (FOS) by 17 May 2017. I heard nothing but late on Friday 18 May 2018, they sent an email informing me that they had arranged for AJ Grant to conduct a detailed assessment of the damages. I should like to point out that this appointment was made without my informed consent! In any event the further assessment was not conducted because I was elsewhere attending a prearranged appointment. On 31 May after I sent a letter to CommInsure with a copy to the Ombudsman, I received a report from Commonwealth Bank's dispute resolution Manager. It contained a lot of fake information and totally false information from the AJ Grant builder. For some decades, until I retired I have worked as an Auditor (yes I qualified as an Auditor) and conducting assessments were a routine part of my work activities. Surprisingly the Builder from AJ Grant have stated the total opposite to what he said in our witnessed conversations and have recommended the claim be declined based on number 1 of CommInsure's General Exclusion Clauses. This clause relates to defects, structural or design faults, faulty workmanship, or faulty design and is the main clause used in situation such as mine because the Insurer believes it's the easiest clause to attempt to defend and the one that gets the the most results in claimants not pursuing their claim. The builder from AJ Grant produced a photograph which he alleges is of poor workmanship. AJ Grant also alleges that used and old material was used What that photograph demonstrates is a hole in roof which was covered by the tarp. The hole is where the satellite dish was situated on the roof! The dish and several sheets of metal were removed from the roof by the CommInsure contractor sent to make the roof safe. Basically AJ Grant through it's builder is attempting a con job. Fortunately I have had the roof independently assessed and that builder took lots of photographs and undertook emergency repairs to prevent the ingress of water and to prevent further deterioration. Reports from the Independent Builder, and the builder supplier of the roof materials, and another entity who also attended for make safe is being provided for submission to the FOS. I would not recommend AJ Grant to anyone. as they are dishonest, deceitful, and unprofessional and I certainly would not recommend CommInsure and/or CommBank as entities to conduct business with. Never ever use this business to do your restorations
We lodged a claim with NRMA in February 2018 because there appeared to be moisture inside our laundry wall. We had originally got a plumber to assess the problem and they quoted us $1 500 to remove the wall, fix the leak and put it back to how it was but in our wisdom we decided to lodge a claim with NRMA. NRMA sent an inspector out who confirmed that there was a leak in the plumbing inside the wall. On 08 March 2018 we paid the excess and received a scope of works approval, with AJ Grant Tuggerah being allocated to the job.
Since then we...
Read more have had no less than 7 instances where tradesmen have come out to assess / do work on the job but to this date we are nowhere near to the job being completed. The wall was removed, the leak repaired (at our cost) and then the wall put back and rendered but not yet tiled or painted. The tiler came in on Monday but refused to do the tiling because one of the other tradesmen allocated by AJ Grant had "removed the waterproofing". He said that now they will have to remove the floor of the laundry with a jackhammer so as to re-apply the waterproofing before he can start tiling.. So we have been without a washing machine for 3 months, have had to take off multiple days work to meet tradesmen at the property and still no end in sight. This is the most unprofessional approach to a job that I have ever come across. NRMA needs to seriously consider taking AJ Grant off their list of recommended providers.Terrible company
WA- unprofessional and run by a bunch of idiots who do not even know what they are doing. shocked how insurance companies even picked them to do repairs on there behalf. Unable to get ahold of them, repairs were the worst I have seen and when I finely got ahold of someone they did not want to listen or advised the manager is not in the office everytime I call.
Liar liar liar
AJ Grant engaged sub contractors to fix our ceiling following storms in the ACT. From day one the service was poor. Didn’t show on time then eventually engaged a builder to undertake the works. The workmanship was terrible. Just over 12 months later the paint is peeling from the ceiling joints. The first Inspector from AJ Grant took one look at the works, apoligised and said they would get it fixed. 3 months later the local A J Grant person attended with the builder. They climbed on the roof, made multiple excuses, included butt joints, previou...
Read mores trades etc.. then the report to NRMA says there are broken roof tiles and new water damage. Very strange considering no one has been on the roof since they repaired it after the storm. I wonder if they may have broken some tiles when stomping around up there... Offered a paltry amount to not rectify the works. Never trust them! Then to make matters worse NRMA agree without even coming out to look at our house. JOKE!!!- 2 reviews

VERY stressful time dealing with A.J.Grant
I had a very stressful time dealing with A.J.Grant through NRMA, who recommend them, as i found out they are the only repairs in my area that they can send out to do the scope of works and assess the damage so i didn't even have a choice.
I had a broken council sewer main cause the side of my house to sink.
They informed me that it was going to be quite expensive and for them to warrant any work done they will use there team of trades, so they got all trades in at once for a week and then nothing for 6 weeks.
A.J.Grant where good to talk to...

Just inept unprofessional and amateurish.
Coles Insurance use this mob and at best they are all of the above. Absolutely no communication skills nor urgency in how they go about their work.Get used to being fed large amounts of high stinking manure because they will feed it to you.Claim submitted in Nov 2017 and approaching April 2018 and absolutely nothing has taken place.Have actually lodged a formal complaint with the Financial ombudsman in relation to this matter and don't believe I will accept AJ Grant Group in managing the repairs in any way. Coles probably really need to source another management group who demonstrate far higher qualities of proffessinalism. This mob wouldn't understand the meaning of the word.

Trades men
well my experience with A J Grant is that they don't want good trades to do there repair work. myself and other trades refuse to do work for them as the only want the cheapest price.
if insurance companies dealt direct with builders like they used to they would save money and cut out the middle man A J Grant who are only in it for the money.
There communication skills to us and also there clients as we are told by them is non existent. IAG needs to wake up and save some money and focus back on there customers who are suffering i would not recommend using SGIC OR CGU if a Panel builder is in control of the repairs.
Thank god we have the RAA in Adelaide, local people who use local trades and that's who we are with.
Endless Excuses
Had damaged roof caused by Cyclone Debbie (28th March 2017) and I have had 3 assessors inspect now. They have agreed to replace the roof but are excluding the bullnose. AJ Grant have come up with a different excuse to Comminsure every time I ring. Also started putting up rail protection and were about to remove the roof without me sighting or signing a scope of works. Meeting with insurance council today to sort this out. Will be looking for new insurance company that doesn't use AJ Grant as assessor.

do not use AJGrant
Ajgrant were coles insurance appointed repairer for our water leak claim. Absolute debacle is the best way to explain. Flooring guys, cabinet maker, plumber.... absolute rubbish work ethics delivering a completely sub standard final result. After pointing out bad workmanship to AJGrant foreman...... we were told ''this is not a high end job''
Maybe not, but we deserved to have our kitchen repaired back to the standard it was insured for.
Please, look at other reviews and make a wise decision steer clear of AJGrant and request a different contractor if Insurance company assign them.

avoid this repairer
Our insurer sent AJ Grant to fix storm damage. Today we told the insurer we refused to deal with them any more. Insurance repairs must be a competitive business and similarly with the tradesmen AJ Grant uses. As home owner we want the quality repair agent who uses the best quality tradesmen. We found AJ Grant arrogant and not responsive to our needs and the same goes with some of their tradesmen. Our floor is still not fixed, but we won't allow AJ Grant to do anything more. We have already organised and paid for a new front door ourselves - something the insurer should have covered.

Bad Workmanship, bad attitude
AJ Grant started out well enough, we were told all the things we wanted hear by [name removed], he left company and job was taken over by [name removed]. He too said all the right things like... 'don't worry you got lifetime guarantee'... Well let me assure you that AJ Grant and their customers have vastly different concepts of that simple statement.
We had most of their tradesman return to fix things. Mostly it was because the workmanship of their tradesmen was utterly disgraceful, and the work seemed to be done with the least amount of respe...

Be very careful
AJ Grant were recommended by my insurance company. It has been 3 months without a resolution. They did not return messages or emails, etc. They were rude on the phone and very very dodgy with their building expertise and advice to my insurance company. If your insurance company chooses them as a repairer definitely say no and get another option or just chose your own builder. I am now out of pocket by $5000 to my repairs due to AJ Grants wrong advice. Be very careful of this company.
