Car insurance claim rejection

This is the worst insurance I have ever seen. They simply reject the claim by saying this does not cover mechanical issues all those stupid terms. They are not ready to fix the car or even write off saying there is a mechanical issue. The car got serviced by a mechanic and saying everything is perfect. People don't choose this insurance company at all. I will write about this all places. Show details

Worst insurance experience ever

The worst company I have ever dealt with.
They do not keep records of conversations, they do not follow up on matters when they state they will do so. They state they have actioned things when they have not. My vehicle repair claim has been outstanding for 7 months and they changed their mind at 6 months to change from repair to write off. Only a result of my complaint. Show details

AAMI don't care

Been with AAMI for 40 years with car insurance, totally useless.
Had to wait a month to get an assessment, unfortunately a financial write off and rang them a number of times before they spent 5 mins to tell me a forgone conclusion.
Then after that they cancelled the insurance with a month left on the policy but didn't reimburse me for that month.
Surely this is not right.
Is this how you want to be treated, go elsewhere never again will I use them. Show details

Disgusting customer service - never use them

This is the worst service to go with. They did not attend to a claim made a year ago by me when another car rear ended me. When I then sold that car 1.5 years later, I asked to close the car insurance policy. They told me I couldn’t because they hadn’t followed up the claim so money was still owing. So they refused access to my account, continued taking money out of direct debit, wouldn’t let me close the policy and still were unsure why the claim hadn’t been completed and paid fully. Then I spent 4 hours on the phone trying to get support. Got passed from department to department. The manager said he would call me but didn’t. And so I am now held hostage to this policy. They won’t let me out of it. Show details

Unlucky we’re with AAMI

AAMI used to be good but that’s dramatically changed for the worse, beware..
Made an online claim for front end damage that occurred in our driveway, now >1 month later and it’s still not even allocated to a claims manager despite being at the repair shop.
We have written several emails seeking a response or update and waited on hold for 40mins + on multiple occasions to speak to someone new every time.
Nothing is being followed up. Still not even approved for repair! Incredible waste of our time for what should be a very simple claim, well within policy specs.
No apology or acknowledgment that this is unacceptable. Show details

Just so disappointed

After 21 years with Aami. Not a single claim. I contacted them this week to change my insurance over to my new car. A simple, compact 2011 vw with no mods. They quoted me $2, 875 and when I asked why the massive increase from $1,000 they gave me a generic, non specific answer. I said I would have to call them back and I did a quick compare the market to fund that everywhere else was charging $800 to $1,400 for the exact same insurance. I called Aami back and told them that I'd have to leave and go elsewhere. They put me on hold for half an hour and came back with a $200 reduction. Still 3 times the price of their competition.
After 21 years with Aami I am so very, very disappointed that I have to go elsewhere. Show details

The worst

If they invested some of the money that they put into advertising back into their customer service they might be as successful as they pretend to be. I have now been waiting 3 months for my claim to be processed and every time I call to speak with my claims manager, I get she is busy and will call you back later which never happens.

Penalize loyal customers

I have been an AAMI customer for almost ten years and the latest premium they sent me ($1400) is over two hundred dollars dearer than the one I got on a quote (from them). It is also twice the amount quoted by Budget Direct. AAMI, that is to say their parent company Suncorp, actually engage in customer abuse and penalize loyal customers. Unacceptable annual increase

2 cars with Aami comprehensive insurance . Increase of 23% and 36% respectively is ridiculous. No accident claims or damage or changes from previous year and used them for more than 5 years. Show details

To add they can’t be bothered to reply to reviews or mediation requests therefore have moved insurances to Budget Direct and Youi - typical of the lack of customer service ,completely reliant on automation .

Cannot even take my kids to school despite having COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE

Today my car is in for repair and I have been told that it will be there for 5 days. Offering me an uber home is not sufficient. I have 2 kids that I need to collect and drop off to school for 5 days. I have to take them to after school activities this Wednesday whilst my husband is at work. I physically cannot meet the basic needs of my children due to not having a loan vehicle for these 5 days.

I took out COMPREHENSIVE insurance for this very reason. I was told that if I was not at fault I would receive a loan vehicle. The police report and the video footage AND the witness all state that I was NOT at fault. I was NOT even in my vehicle at the time of this accident. Show details

Terrible Experience

Awful experience. I paid such a huge premium for comprehensive insurance for years (despite agreed value being only $5100) had an accident months ago and the car was towed from the scene. Weeks ago I received the letter from service NSW to say my car was written off and still nothing from AAMI. I’ve spoken with various people on the phone after waiting >1 hour on hold many times and they’re like robots repeating broad statements until I have to hang up. AAMI used to be good, not anymore

The neighbour backed into my new car and did minor damage which required replacement of the front fender. The assessor refused to paint the whole side of the car despite the repairer stating that he could not guarantee a good colour match. I found out that AAMI repairers are required to sign contracts agreeing to a set price for each repair and they get $2200 for every repair no matter how big or small. This means the repairer does the bare minimum. I ended up cancelling the claim and organising the repair to be done properly. It is a 2-year-old car. I don't want people staring at my car as I drive down the road noticing the paint mismatch. Show details

Terrible customer service

Car accident the 14 February. Was taken to a different repairer that I was advised without notification. I had to call to find out where it only to find out it was un repairable and immediately went to assessment- no update on either app or website on this. I had to call to find this out was told 7-10 business days to assess then 7 days for claim settlement. Now over three weeks post claim being made, app is still saying at repairers. Website shows claim payment authorised. Haven’t heard a thing from them. Every time I call I am hold for 45 mins then get told someone will call me or I will get an email. AAMI Insurance Lies

I wish I'd looked here before going with AAMI comprehensive car insurance. The difference between their "Lucky Your with AAMI" advertising lie and reality is like the difference between chalk and cheese. You have to wait for about an hour to get to an offshore call center which won't answer your questions and stone walls you. My vehicle is still hasn't being "assessed" - but it's only been two weeks, so according to some posts under this topic I still have another five weeks to wait. Show details

Have 13 policy's with AAMI. Both business and personnel.
Spend hours waiting on hold, virtual assistant is never available when you want to cancel a policy.

Can’t admit their own faults

My 85 year old mother, has a licence restricting her to local area, drives maybe 700 km per year. AAMI has decided that’s she’s driven a thousand km from her home in northern nsw, to Victoria, written off some Isuzu and the driven home. Stay clear of AAMI and SMART smash repairs

Stay clear from AAMI car insurance and SMART smash repairs.
Had an accident that was not my fault in December last year.
Claim lodges very next day.
Car was not assessed until mid January.
I took my car to be assessed in January and was told 2 weeks to fix.
The next week I was told that I needed to come and pick up my car again as parts needed to be orders.
To date I am still waiting on parts as the part required is on back order. It’s almost been 3 months since my claim being lodged.
Both the smash repair and AAMI have taken no responsibility for the delay in repairs. Unfortunately for me I am trying to sell my car. So I have left out to dry.

We had an accident after ages paying money to AAMI, and they even don't answer phone calls. Very irresponsible. They only want your money, and don't support you after an accident. How can we force them to answer phone calls? Only by taking them to the court?!! ×( Show details

AAMI are the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with

Car damaged as a result of a glass repairer. Now AAMI is not helping me at all. Telling me to go sort it out directly with the glass repairer and their crash repairer. The glass repairer wants a quick fix and even the crash repairer they sent me to told me not to deal with them. AAMI is nowhere to be seen. The policy is with them, the claim is with them, they take the payments but wont help. I put in a complaint and they advised they would get back to me within 48 hours later. That was 6 days ago. Nothing. Worst customer service in insurance I have ever had. Show details

Having complained four times now in writing to AAMI and apart from the automated email advising my complaint is received, AAMI has not contacted me to resolve my complaint. I have now taken this to AFCA.
