I have 5 policies with this company (2 house and contents, 2 cars and a caravan) and my car insurance policy just went up significantly with no claims on any policy ever. When I called in the hope of getting some loyalty in return was given attitude and told I had a claim on a hot water service on one of the houses - untrue. I made an inquiry about it but wasn’t paid out. Have always paid policy’s in lump sum. Got better prices at CGU and GIA and will be moving all policies. Give them a miss! High prices, rude service and no loyalty to existing customers.
Unexplanable Hike In Premium
I have been with AAMI since last three years for my comprehensive car insurance. I also have my home and content policy for one property and just content policy for the one I am renting now. Infact I was also looking to have a landlord policy with them when the car insurance renewal notice came to me. A staggering $200 increase from what I paid last year inspite of moving to a more posh and safer postcode - 3123. Since last 3 days I have been trying to get a reason specific to my case and not general for the increase in premium amount. Have cal...led and chatted. Nobody has been able to give me a good reason. All they said was, "sorry I cannot help you with your query". On back to back occasions, my chat session was ended abruptly by the customer service agent. I am not sure what they had as notes under my account but I made it very clear at the beginning of the chat session that I am not here to bargain, just need to understand the reason for the increase. From the language, it was very apparent that they were in a haste to end the session. Like they did not even ask if there was anything else they can help with. Just exited the session very rudely. One of the agent also gave me wrong info about the age factor. I have been loyal to AAMI and hence I had all my policies there. Had been very happy with the services but with the experience of last week or so, I am very much clear that I need to move. Probably AAMI is over burdened with customers.
Dont end up paralysed on life support
If you are in an induced coma, paralyzed from the neck down and on life support they still expect you to phone their customer service dept. Never in my life have I dealt with a company and its investigators with such little comprehension of what families go through in this situation. Total lack of compassion and empathy. They have been no help what so ever 3 weeks in from our son being in this condition.
Aami -efficient, quick and wonderful service
I have been with many insurance company in my lifetime . I must say AAMI have been nothing but amazing . Both times I was in minor car accidents, I had no trouble getting my claims . It was so simple and quick ! They even offered Uber service to and from home. So thank u once again from the bottom of my heart AAMI.
Making a written of claim. Poor communication and no follow up
My car had recently had an accident and I make a claim with them. I took my car to their suggested repair center the next day they told me they had to transfer it to their own repair center. After that there has been no communication from them. I had to call and found out that my car has been escalated to be written off with no formal communication from them. I call again after a week and was told to either to call there written off team or wait 10 to 14 business days. Its been 3 weeks and I still could not reach there written off team as there is a await time of 1 hr and you have to tired of waiting. Still chasing them terrible service on.
Paying $130 a month for comprehension car insurance, I have contacted 5 other companies offering me insurance at half the price of what ammi is offering. Over the years ammi have just upped my payment and lower the amount I get back! No customer loyalty at all.
Don’t go there. Worse insurance company
Terrible company. No ethics . They don’t care about customers. They are only focus on their business. I had the worse experience with them. Poor communication, poor service and no customer focus. All they want is your money. Don’t go there . They ruined my life. I don’t have space to describe the whole history but can garantee this is the worse insurance company in Australia.
Still Waiting after 3 weeks for my write off payment!
My car was written off by aami in 6th Feb after hail damage. Aami advised they would call within 3 days and ask for bank details. After no call in 12 days I called them and gave my details on 19/02. It’s now 25/02 and I’ve had no call, no payment. Not good enough aami, you were quick to take my payment of the excess, and to tell me there was no refund on the unused portion of my 10 day old insurance premium. Pay up now please.
Not at fault but you will get all the blame
Car damaged by another car, provided details as per agreement, told I needed to obtain more information from the other driver every time

Had a really smooth experience with AAMI, from the initial claims call, follow up txts and emails, to sorting a rental car while mine was being repaired. They organised Ubers from the repairer to the rental place and back. Even the repairer Capital Smart was very professional. Used to be with Coles, AAMI is far better.
They increased their prices $200 this year for renewal.. goodbye AAMI I just got cheaper deal elsewhere..not a nice way to treat your long time members with a massive jump in price for the same car and zero claims.

Lodged my first motor vehicle claim in 29 years, (only minor damage), i am a rating 1 customer which states my premium will not go up because of lodging a claim whether its an at fault, or due to weather.

Great company who have quick response times. Whole family of 5 have all policies with Aami for many years. Recently had to make a claim for the Canberra hail storms and whole issue was resolved within 14days from start to finish.
AAMI can not give straight answer and are deceiving
I made a claim with aami they charge me top dollar for my comprehensive insurance. I own a prestige car when making the policy they did not give me option to pay extra to choose my own repairer as they told me when I made the claim which apparently does not exist with aami, they are trying to put the Blame on me for not asking about that option they constantly put me on the run around from one person to the other. I am on hold minimum 1 hour when contacting them they can never give me a straight answer for the questions I have. Aami do not even...have a preferred repairer that is capable of working on my vehicle, by the way I have 3 cars insured with aami. I highly recommend people choose another insurance company as my experience with aami has been nothing but an absolute inconvenience. I was happy to use a aami preferred repairer but even their repaired tell me the job is too big for them none of them even have great reviews aami just gives its customers cheap and nasty work.

Extremely clunky and buggy website, defective system that gives an error every time i try to view my policy
I've had a car insurance with them for over 3 years now, and you know what, every year after i paid for the renewal, it never sends me a confirmation, and when i login to check the policy, it always gives an error. i had to call them to send me a certificate of currency and the customer service rep told me their system is just buggy like that, and they didn't know why it always fails.
Next year I'm thinking about moving to another insurer for sure.
I have gone to other firms but keep coming back. By far the best, most hassle-free when making claims. Great service, no fuss. I've been lucky to be with Aami!
Most expensive and useless insurer. I have been with aami once last year and toward the end of the term i decided to change to nrma because it’s $1000 more than nrma so i called to cancel. They said i will be charged $38 cancellation fee + no refund for any remaining days.
Terrible road side assitance
I had a terrible experience with AAMI road site assitance, on a Sat. Night at 1850 called them as my cars battery was flat my car was not starting..the customer service was supportive and advised within 1 hour someone will be their to jump start the car..so at 920 thats 1.5 H after got a call from the driver he said he is 40 minutes away!..so thats over 2.5 from initial call..
Also the driver said he is running into heavy traffic!! On Sat night...
Turned out AAMI has only 4 field staff that's 4 cars for Sydney area!!!
Now I feel the service ...they provide does not fit for purpose and they never disclose this in the term and conditions all, they should advise their customers about their service quality...so I was mislead when got sold the service as well mislead by customer service as well by the driver...all lies...
Worst experience ever
Worst customer service, especially overseas call centre. Extended waits for assessment and very bad repair. My radiator was leaking and no one cared. I had to take my car to SUBARU in the end. I also ended up having to take multiple days off work and they did not compensate for lost time. I was also told over the phone I should be lucky they are fixing my car.... clearly they don’t understand the concept of insurance. The worst customer experience of my life.
