Do not get AAMI to insure anything you own!
3 weeks ago my partner was in a car accident
With my new born baby.
The other driver was at fault
His insurance company is aami
They refuse to look at the car and are making things extremely difficult to get our brand new family car back on the road!!
What is wrong with these companies????
They take everyone’s money and don’t do the job they are supposed to do!
Please use any other insurance company
Stay away from AAMI
If you want to donation then get insurance with them
Bad service long call waiting
No good answer and helpless
I never use this insurance company in my life
I prefer everyone please think 100k times before you get insurance with them, when you paying them for insurance they don’t ask you where you get money to pay, or if struggling to pay we can give you discount no nothing,
I was using them from 3 years, i had accident they was keep putting my claim on delays and after i fed up I withdrew my claim, because their staff was disturbing me and but more stress on me, end of day i got my ...
WARNING they are abysmal - never go through AAMI!
I have been with AAMI for at least 5 years. I recently caused damage to my own car, hit a trolley bay... under their comprehensive insurance and the damage was not that bad (some scratches and dents) at all but since I take a lot of pride in my car I decided to pay the excess of $650 and have them repair it. I arranged via AAMI to take it to a repairer and they said they are taking it to Altona North as the repair needed to be done elsewhere as they were unable to do it. It went to a panel beater and AAMI call it a total loss (economic)!! Becau...se they say my car is old. They asked if I wanted the car back and I said YES!!! They gave me $325 back to get my perfectly fine car. The car came back to me on a tow truck with my number plates having been ripped off the car and ruined! They had not done any work to my car and ripped off the plates! For what??! They refused to pay to replace the plates and had done no work to my car yet still charged me all this money. Even the tow truck driver was kind and couldn't believe they didn't fix my car and also help me try and bend back my number plates for my car! Don't go with AAMI. They are very good at taking your money but not loyal to their customers and don't care if they lose you either. I've now switched insurers for car and home contents insurance. Horrible experience after paying them thousands of dollars! They left me with more work and costs to fix my car. Devastated.
Shocking company who does not honour claims
Contaminated fuel ruined our motor which was confimed by our mechanic who first saw the car after the engine was destroyed. We were insured for it but a incompetent mechanic by the name of Chris who worked for AAMI checked the car 3 months later and said it was not contaminated fuel but he did not know what it was that ruined our engine. Mind you he came and checked the car and took a sample 3 months later in a vegemite jar.
Stalling and excuses and uncooperative claims processors
Aami customer (Red-P-plater, daddy’s policy) parked on hill and forgot handbrake, vehicle rolled 50m down steep hill, ran into our camperbus (April 2019), claim against driver still waiting on settlement ...
CTP insurance worst night mare. Pathetic answers to avoid paying. Avoid AAMI at all costs
9 Month since hit by a car and still going. AAMI now aiming at recovering 50% of my medical. Surgery took place after evidence of damages from accident. AAMI said I should have used a different road.
August 31st 2019 Update: AAMI the worst insurer in the market
AAMI the worst insurer. High in advertising, irresponsible in efficient process of a claim. Increased bad reputation. Stay out / change / look elsewhere for a responsible insurer. The worst in the market.
Get Advantage of customers
AAMI car insurance get advantage of customers by putting a very low price value for car in insurance policy. Their assessment is not accurate at all. When it comes to write off situation the amount of money they pay you can not make up any lost at all. They told me 6 months later that the price of my car is more than when I got insurance, how is it possible???? They do not accept their mistake as they thought their very big insurance company. Do not use AAMI anymore. They do not look after customer at all.
very poor service on minor claim - absolutely NO recommendation
I was with Aami for many yrs but their prices increased significantly so went elsewhere for two trs. Good driver no my fault accidents/claims. Had driver change lanes in to my car without looking, minor damage and driver admitted fault. Exchanged license details including his full name, license number, location and time and his vehicle number and description. Rang AAIMi straight away, but they said because I had not got his address that I had to pay excess! Very upset with this as had everything else. After numerous weeks and complaints in which...I feel that they have been quite arrogant, rude and dismissive; I complained to Insurance Ombudsman. AAMI did not report back on their trying to find driver and I believed made minimal effort and spent considerable time and angst trying to do so. Basically their opinion was to send me a copy of the policy which in ordinary print and certainly NOT upfront, that they will not pay claims where address of the driver is not revealed. As I regard my privacy, especially home address as extremely private, I DO NOT THINK THAT IT IS SAFE, OR LEGITIMATE , THAT this is a requirement of their policy. they also mocked me when I tried to locate the driver then seemingly asked for more proof even if I had such as photos! I was not hurt and I was alone and the other driver skipped off, I made a police crash report all that is required in ACT (yet never asked about by insurance). Police tell me they can make a written application for the details but they refuse or say they can't. I have spent way too much time on this minor accident which was NOT MY FAULT, and I have been a long term good driver paying full insurance for many yrs, yet receive this disrespectful and arrogant response! It seems tome that they are doing everything they can not to pay and be so aggressive in doing so, that they will continue to use customers such as myself. Gone elsewhere for cheaper and don't need the unnecessary aggression and hostility when they should be offering customer service and empathy - but that is obviously not their business. No recommendation except not to use them and only glad that I found out exactly WHAT THEY ARE LIKE before A SERIOUS INCIDENT.
Appalling quality repair
Wow, I am extremely disappointed with AAMI and their complete lack of concern for one of their policy holders following some terrible repairs on their prestige vehicle by an AAMI repairer. The customer has called AAMI several times requesting that an assessor come to my workshop so we can show them the extremely poor workmanship by the AAMi repairer but AAMI keep refusing to attend. They have only agreed if the inspection takes place at the owners home, but the owner cannot have anyone else there to show the assessor from a technical perspectiv...e what is wrong. The owner reluctantly let AAMI choose who was to repair the car initially, but has clearly lost all faith following the appalling repairs done No amount of reasoning with the phone staff has ended in being put through to the assessing team. They are untouchable. I would of thought that if they became aware of a significant structural and roadworthiness issue with one of their repairs that AAMI would have been jumping to the rescue of their so called customer. Instead their arrogance and lack of concern for their policy holder is all that is apparent. "Lucky you're with AAMI", definitely Not.
This is the worst insurance company ever better stay away from it
They don't want to pay any claims and if you cancel your policy they absolutely take 15 days and if you call them They will tell you your case manager is not available at the moment and they will play with you all the time
Better avoid this insurance company AAMI
Poor Insurance company ever
Dodgy practice, misleading advertising
The other vehicle done a hit and run, damaged my car, and they fled the scene. I filed a police report with a witness and was given a police reference number. AAMI website site on third party claims, " You’re also covered up to $5,000 for damage to your car by an uninsured driver at fault." ... but AAMI wouldn't cover without the other persons details, and didn't even want to see the police reference number. AAMI uses dodgy practices to avoid claims, so you have been warned.
Money never well spent.
If your car is more than 50000 dollars, dont choose Aami. They have treated me like a second class citizen/criminal, with investigations ongoing. They cant even say where my car is!!
18 years with AAMI. Always paid on time. When it came to claim. I did the running around and give them proof
They emailed all my personal details to the 3rd party involved. After the 5th follow up call, They said the investigation consultant put the wrong email address on your file.
I was angry and screaming but not swearing as I work for a call center for another company so I kept it as professional as possible. The operator then told me :You will loose this case because of your behavior.
SO BAD IT'S ALMOST CRIMINAL.
You may save a little money on your policy, but heaven help you if you ever need to make a claim. You're better off paying a bit more for a reputable insurance company. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Like many others, customer relations is deplorable.
This review deserves explaining as much as it should be read by anyone who chooses ever liaise with this iniquitous company.
August 2018 - AAMI alleges I am at fault in an accident. (Straight forward, low impact collision from the rear I am accused of). I explain that I did not collide with the other vehicle and further upon my word, I have witness statements, dash camera footage and photographs (8 Megapixel high def, non-grainy and sharp as a tack) of my vehicle literally 2 minutes after it was alleged I collided showing not only was there not...
Worst car insurance. I would never recommended. biggest mistake in my life. unlucky club
I was accused of staging this accident without any evidence. All my friends and family members know how much I love my car and how I maintain and protect it. I can not even think of staging an accident with my beloved ssv as it was my joy and pride.. There are number of reasons they have mentioned for not to accept the claim. As an example the purchase value is not matching the insured value. I purchase the policy with a agreed value and they are accusing me of not having a market value as the agreed value. what would be the difference in agre...ed value policy and market value policy then? They offered the insurance with a agreed value and I have been paying a higher premium for that. However, when it comes to an accident they do not want to honor the agreement we have. It's been over 8 months and I do not have a car on the road but they are still deducting my monthly premium. Another reason mentioned as reasons for not accepting the claim was the car being not registered after the accident. The rego was expired after the accident and I completely forgot about the rego as I did not have the car with me. I have been driving in Australia for 10 years and haven't had any accidents with another vehicle. This is the first accident I have ever had and want to reject my claim. This is the most unprofessional and cheapest service I have ever dealt with. Do not recommend any AAI products(AAMI is under AAI) to any future customers. I was stupid not to read the reviews before I purchase the policy. I am heavily depend on my own transportation and not having a car for more than 8 months is affecting me financially and emotionally in big time. But AAMI do not even care about that. The case is with the ombudsmen and hope I will get a fair outcome.
I wouldn’t even give them one star
Our car was damaged in the December hail storm and we lodged a claim a couple of days after. We understood that there were many claims and demand was high. We waited patiently for dates for an assessment to be released and eventually got that email, booking the vehicle into a time slot for the Lisarow inspection Centre.
The date came and I called to confirm the appointment in the morning. When my husband, who is self employed, drove 1.5 hours to the place and arrived on time he was told that the assessor had gone home. That was at least 4+ ho...urs of lost wages and work for nothing. He was told a smash repairs would be in contact within two weeks. Two weeks went by and still no contact. We called AAMI back to see if we could take it to a smash repairs local to my husbands place of work and was told no. We had to take it to another place which was about 1 hour away. My husband took it to the new place, again losing out on 4+ hours of work to be told we can’t do it as it needs a smash repairer. AAMI then admitted that they should have sent us to another place, only 10 mins away and passed through the details. We booked the vehicle in for a 1/2 day inspection which we believed was conducted.
Lack of Empathy
My family & I were involved in a serious accident where we had a head on collision at 98 Kilometres an hour at Grafton [ There was a fatality ] . We were not the at fault Driver . 6 Weeks later we receive our first phone call from AAMI . We have spent 6 weeks trying to communicate with them but it generally means you spend 50 minutes listening to aren't i lucky i am with AAMI
We had a family of four involved with the accident and two young adults following in the car behind . I the driver spent two nights in Grafton Hospital . After contacting...AAMI we were told that the Maximum help we would receive because we were over 500 kilometres from home would be $500 dollars . How the hell do you get a family home for $500 How do you put a family up in a hotel while one of you recover. They false advertise and do not give a crap about people . There should be a Royal Commission into these insurance companies

Stay away! Aami are you're best friend until its time for them to pay!
Had 2 motorbikes and 2 cars insured with these disgusting people. I had a car stolen and had to make a claim back in May. They still have not finalized the claim and I have not been paid! It's currently December 19th. This was an open and shut case for which I had obviously filed a police report. The policy stated that in the event of theft, there was a 2 week waiting period to see if police were able to recover the vehicle. Understandable, and uncontested from me. After waiting a month and hearing nothing, I called them and was told on 3 occas...ions that my claim officer was busy and would call me back. 3 times they did not! The fourth call I insisted that I be put through regardless and said I would wait however long I had to, and miraculously, I was able to talk to them almost immediately. After I was told they needed more information, I received an email and returned the requested proof of ownership, proof of registration and a police report number. What came back was a full A4 page list of demands, basically asking me to do all the legwork and hand out all the cost of providing useless information so they could try and screw me out of my payout. This consisted of things like paying for a formal report on my driving history, paying for a hard copy of the police report, a copy of my phone records for 2 weeks prior to the theft and for 2 weeks after, a receipt for my registration payment and much much more. Basically, it was obvious I had proven a legitimate claim, so they started trying to find any other possible way out of paying, even including trying to fault me on the answered questions from back when the policy was taken out to try and void the whole contract! I pointed out how they were happy to take my money this whole time without the legitimacy of the policy being questioned! At the 2 month mark, I also provided a letter that Police Investigations sent me saying the investigation was being closed and the vehicle was being declared as unrecoverable. This detailed that after a 2 month investigation, they found no evidence that there was anything suspicious about my report and that they had come to a dead end trying to locate the car and were unfortunately declaring it a loss. At the start, I told them about health issues I have and my inability to get to my medical appointments, amplified by the fact that I live rural. They offered me a loan car for 3 weeks, problem is, as I write this, it has now been 7 months, 1 week, and 1 day since my car was stolen, and nothing has been finalized! I even requested an email from the claims officer over a month ago so I had in writing that I had provided everything they wanted and I had no further obligations to them. They happily replied saying that I had helped them with everything they had asked and there was nothing they still wanted from me. So why am I still sitting here well over a month later without my money AAMI! Finally, and sorry for the long review, I hope it saves someone else the nightmare I've been waiting for 7 months, I wanted to point out that for 4 months the Financial Services Ombudsman has been involved after I lodged a dispute. It has still taken this long! Stay away from these crooks! UPDATE 31st March 2019: Unbelievably still waiting for these criminals to stop trying to find a way out of paying my claim. The loss of the car has cost me my employment now as my boss got sick of me being late or unable to come i because I was constantly struggling to find a way to get there. Literally ruining my life as I couldn't replace it, which is why I insured it funnily enough, I could not afford to replace it if something happened. These soulless scumbags do not give a damn about their paying customers even if you've been with them long-term. I swear the cost of them trying to avoid paying must have passed the amount of my claim a long time ago, and there is no way out for them, I didn't lie on the application and there is nothing shady about my claim. All this headache and they will have to fork out anyway, but meanwhile I have to suffer, and they know this. I have been suffering from anxiety and depression since about 6 months before the theft, which I told them about around the 3 month mark. This has simply reversed my progression to get past that and put it into overdrive. No person deserves the treatment these animals dish out, please save yourself the mental torture if you are considering using AAMI. If I knew it would go this way at the start I would have happily burnt the claim money to avoid it and at least I would still have my health by the end AAMI!

This is how all insurance companies should operate
Having made a claim with AAMI and also with another company in the last 12 months (different cars) I was shocked at the difference between the process of the two companies. AAMI was easy - one phone call and I was told where and when to take the car and then it was fixed exactly as promised. AAMI then followed up to make sure I was happy. The exact opposite of RAC.
November 30th 2019 Update: No personal empathy for their clients.
AAMI is incapable of giving a straight answer to a simple question.
My son was driving our car and had a crash. I ...
