Good insurance, keep coming back.
I've switched back to AAMI after living in NT (with TIO Car insurance) for 3 years.
Able to get a competative price for an under 25 driver and free roadside assistance for a year.
Very easy to request a quote and all handled thru email and the website.
2016 Mazda is covered for agreed value of $21,600 with a $600 excess and yearly $686.61.
Much cheaper than other insurers for young drivers.
Would recommend.

Had 3 not at fault claims over the past 15 years. 1st one while we were shopping in a centre someone backed into our Yaris and crushed the whole back hatch, and did a runner. Had to pay an excess because we had not proof of who did it, but car was fixed within a few days. They organised a taxi home after dropping the car at their repairer Smart Centre.
2nd accident Mercedes rear ended me, crushed back hatch in. Again fast turnaround car fixed.
3rd accident near new Mazda 3 was totally written off by a ute cutting across me head on. This clai...

Has a Positive experience
I recently had an accident resulting in a front on collision, the other driver assumed responsibility. After taking relevant photos of the relevant sites, i initiated the process to exchange of details. I soon realised that the driver had an international drivers licence. Since this was foreign territory, I immediately called AAMI to see if what information I needed. Unfortunately, the information conveyed over the frantic phone call was not explicitly clear. The other driver incidentally showed me that they had an authorised translation of the...
Read moreir international licence. After taking photos of these documentation and exchanging details I proceed to lodge my claim with AAMI. I also asked the driver for a copy of their insurance policy (this was just an extra precaution- and I understand that some drivers will not oblige). After following the routine claim lodgement process, I was charged with a $600 excess, with the assurance that if the accident was identified as not my fault it would be refunded. I chose to get my car serviced at the Peakhurst (NSW) Smart location as the one closer to me had more negative reviews in comparison. In Retrospect majority of the service centres have some form of negative reviews, I guess this is customary. I read most of the positive and negative reviews on both google and other similar review sites, and concluded that the Peakhurst location was a good bet. In my situation I was not proven wrong, they were flexible and professional and not to mention quick, handed my car in on Friday morning at 7:30am, got a SMS Saturday saying it was ready to be picked up on Monday. A caveat being it was minor crack to the front bumper. As have comprehensive cover had uber rides to and from service center, work, and hire care (and these were over multiple days to suit my convenience). I wanted to give AAMI some props and say that they did a great, professional job with my accident and I relieved that the system works.Find out how AAMI Car Insurance compares to other Car Insurance

Read your PDS Thoroughly!
My wife had AAMI before we got married and have continued with them. She's had them for over 10 years. As a couple, we made 2 claims. One in 2017 (stolen vehicle), and 1 in Feb 2019.
The 2017 claim was pretty straight forward. Day of theft, called AAMI, paid excess and they sorted out a hire car for us. In the PDS it states that it's only for 2 weeks, and that's it. If you want to get it extended, it's unfortunately out of pocket. You can schedule your hire start date, but that's it. The car had to get re-keyed and some repairs done. The issu...
Read moree with the repairer was with the repairer (I reviewed them accordingly). Aami wasn't at fault for the lack of communication from the repairer or the time it took, so I don't blame them. Remember, Insurance companies are companies. Not friends. They're out to make money, not friends. Our 2019 claim was a no-fault accident (someone failed to give way). Again, I tried to get a hire car extended because of the North QLD floods, all repairers are busy as and if it had to go back to the same guys, it was going to take over a month. The first person I talked to didn't know about the no-fault clause in the PDS for unlimited hire car. I called again to request a different repairer closer to where the accident was and the rep. informed me of the no-fault car hire that is in the PDS. So make sure you read your PDS!PamGreenvale

Claim process is good
Bit expensive in comparison to Budget Direct and Bingle. But claim process is quick and they don’t ask for unnecessary paperwork. Peace of mind to pay bit more.

Expensive but pays out
On the one hand, they are expensive. On the other hand, I had to make two claims - one when someone damaged my car and another under a home contents cover - and I received compensation without much resistance. So we did get something in return.
HAPPPY WITH AAMI
i have been with AAMI for many years and claimed a couple of times and had no problems. the people i have spoken to have been very helpful, never found to be rude.we have all our cars and house and contents with them

Happy with service, having had one crash and one repair issue during my time with AAMI
For some it could be a negative that the repairs can only go through their service centre,
for me however it suits just fine as the service centre is close to my job.
I sometimes found their phone service a little bit frustrating, but no more so than any other large company.
I needed to get my insurance transferred over on the same day i bought my new car, I asked for a call back and received one very shortly afterwards.
I was pretty stoked that my insurance could easily be transferred from my now written off car to my new one.
The only other complaint is that, once my car was written off, i had only a matter of days before i needed to find a new one. That felt a little bit burdensome. ...

No problems so far
With awareness of generally critical reviews such as those here, I took out a policy with AAMI years ago, they were hundreds of dollars cheaper than my previous insurer, QBE. Until about a month ago, I'd not made a claim. In terms of making the claim, I phoned rather than doing it online. The person I spoke to was very helpful, and we organised the repairer to look at car the next day. I emailed in some photos as requested. One week later, the repairer took the car are fixed the damage. After five days, I drove away happy.
All in all, it wa...
Read mores really easy to deal with AAMI. That said, nothing went wrong in the whole process, and the car could still be driven before being repaired. Also, there's only a couple of repairers where I live, both of which have good reviews. So the chance of a poor job was reduced. For now, I'm a happy customer.TamstaVictoria

Worked out ok for me
Have had 2 claims in the last 2 years. First one was me reversing out the drive way, a car speeding down the steep hill hit the back of my car. I’m at fault apparently- even though I have proof they were speeding...... Any way lodged a claim- had to wait a few weeks to get my car in to get repaired and got it back within 4 days. Taxi to and from my work which was a good feature. Best tip - make sure you fill out the taxi voucher- as both times the taxi drivers told me just to sign and they would take care of the details....REALLY??? I don’t thi...
Read morenk so!! Second claim was for windscreen damage - when it cracked. Lucky I had windscreen cover as it would have been over $1000 to replace due to cameras attached to the front screen. They deal with windscreens O’Brien ( who by the way I would not rate well for customer service) the job eventually got done, no fault of AAMI- but the windscreen mob!! It’s still nice to be able to ri g some one up and get it sorted over the phone- no messy paperwork or excessive mucking around. I will stick with them- they are still giving me cheaper quotes than other places.NhanArdeer

24/7 phone service, great customer service
I compared all insurance for comprehensive quote, Aami was the cheapest, amazing customer service, got my quote for $978, however I was able to get a further $50 discount over the phone, in addition a further discount for driving less than 10,000 kms per year bring it down to $800. Amazing price

Better than others
I have been a member for AAMI for many years now and find that they offer a better premium compared to others.
Every year I have looked around for better value but they always are cheaper compare to other insurance providers.
Also their staff is very polite and very helpful. I have had about 2 claims through AAMI, all the fault of the other driver. and they were processed in a very professional manner,

Better Than the Rest, But Still Not Perfect
I compared many car insurance products, and found AAMI's better than those I compared. So I chose to insure with AAMI.
Some car insurance products quoted very competitive premiums. But low premium is not the best value because some insurances have very low market value for my car I wanted to insure, some had high excess, some did not cover windows and wind screen, some did not allow customization for my needs. All these parameters helped lower the premium at the insured's risks.

So far so good - Claims for damage to my car
We were rear ended recently and our car had some minor damage, the other car suffered much more. The phone call to AAMI and they way the agent handled it was too easy. As the fault was third party, whose details we passed on to AAMI, we were not charged for excess. The appointment for the repair was booked 2 days after the accident - car was perfectly driveable. Car not repaired yet, we are waiting for parts from the repair company, but so far, we were happy with how AAMI dealt with this incident.

Easy purchase process, reasonable rate
Personally I would recommend AAMI. The online purchase process is very easy and user friendly.
If you would like to have a piece of mind, you can use AAMI. Very reputable company and friendly customer service.

they fixed it
I have used AAMI on and off through out the years. They are usually the cheapest choice when I try to search quotes. I tend to change companies almost every year as the policy goes up and the cover goes down. Sometimes even doing a manual quote online with the same company can be cheaper than your new invoice.
This year i was rear ended, and made a claim to AAMI with no fault of my own, continued to drive around while the claim process unfolded. The car was fixed to a great standard within about 5 weeks. I may be using AAMI again as I can't find a cheaper quote, I Really want to pay about $650 and they are quoting over $800 despite me moving house and now driving a quarter the distance.

Satisfied with the cost and the claim process
I've had comprehensive insurance with AAMI for a few years now. The price seems competitive. I have had two claims. The work was arranged quickly and efficiently. The customer service people have dealt with all issues well. At first I was not pleased about having no choice of repairer, but the repairs were fine.
The cost of a renewal is more than the same insurance as a new policy.

Helpful staff, actively tried to save me money.
I've had a few policies with AAMI, 2 cars, Third Party and also Comprehensive, the sales person told me that they would apply a discount for me even though they didn't need to mention it, due to an internal promotion. I also like that they have a quick turn around for most questions.

How do you decide who is at fault for collision
2 answers
It goes by the road laws. For example, if the other person was supposed to give way and you were already in the intersection, then the other person is at fault.
Hi Wendy! Well it depends if you think fault of the other party, of course they will fight for you but it needs justification. Proof thanks

Details
Underwritten by the Suncorp Network, AAMI offers four car insurance policies: CTP green slip for NSW, ACT and SA, Comprehensive, Third Party Property Damage Only, and Fire, Theft and Third Party Property Damage.
Points of praise for AAMI:
- AAMI's top score was given for its timeliness in responding to claims.
- Friendly and personable customer service was appreciated. Two customers reported AAMI ‘going above and beyond’ by helping them generously during times of financial hardship.
- Multiple reviewers reported that AAMI offered to organise Ubers from the repairer to and from their homes. Others enjoyed a smooth and hassle-free experience when making claims, with quick response times from AAMI.
Pain points with AAMI:
- AAMI’s chosen repairers and roadside-assist contractors were thought to be low quality
- Premiums increasing considerably even with no claims being made (this increase in premiums appeared to also apply to customers who had taken out multiple policies with AAMI, e.g. home and contents insurance along with car insurance).
