If can review minus stars would have done so
We lodge a claim for car which was a total wreck due to the accident 3 weeks ago and didn’t hear anything since the day we lodge it. Every week we kept on calling and asking the update and it’s always same crap answer. Not sure what kind of insurance company is this .. we maintain insurance to get claims done quickly as possible and get sorted out things when in need but with AAMI it’s right opposite. Having insurance with them means mental torture to be honest. By the time they sort out our Claims we will be totally broken mentally and financi...ally for sure. Will never ever go with AAMI for sure. Have insured few other things , will definitely change them over. And every time when we call the customer service saying they will transfer our calls to management to talk but that managers either never exist or the customer service person not trying to get in touch with them at all. Spoken to Melissa from customer service and only verbally apologising nothing else at all. Her apology cannot help us at all with anything. Please be away from the company!!!!!
Can’t give less than 1 star.
1. Worthless insurance company/ Sucks money out of customer
2. Roadside assistance; need to lodge the claim beside the battery is down or forget the key inside your car.
3. Lodged a claim and need to wait weeks and weeks to get it resolved and I fixed my car and paid it from my pocket.
4. They help themselves not the customer
Beware if you have a parked car accident
Had a trolley driver damage my car while parked at a shopping centre. This was a hit and run and thanks to an eye witness, I contacted the shopping centre and also made a police report. Despite the incriminating video evidence which was subsequently made available after the police report, I'm told that my excess still stands since I did not provide details of the other driver! What a joke. Took over a month to fix the damage incidentally ( bumper bar), and 10 weeks later I'm still questioning why there is a delay in refunding the excess only to...be told "until we verify the other party is at fault" your excess will not be waived since I only provided the Shopping Centre TPI details. I insisted I get this decision in writing and will be vehemently contesting this with the ombudsman's office in 4 weeks. Giving AAMI the benefit of their delayed processing to seek the video evidence which at the time of this review they have not done.
Car stolen - no payout - after 43 years of AAMI being my insurer. Disgraceful treatment
I have been with Aami for 43 years as my car insurer. Car got stolen in January and they have rejected the claim. Headed to AFCA to resolve. Shouldn’t have come to this!
These guys won't pay out on a simple theft case. They just try and find excuses and use exclusions which don't apply. I would avoid them and their parent Suncorp at all costs.
2020 for us all has been a terrible year. then one of my cars was rear ended by an uninsured driver, the aami process was smooth enough with a few hurdles. the following fortnight my home was robbed and in the process stole my wife's car in the process and subsequently burnt it out.
After emailing AAMI a copy of the photos of the car and a copy of the police report I called to find out the progress of the claim, I mentioned the previous operator I had spoken to said the car would likely be a write off, the response I received from the Manila c...all centre was what proof do you have the car is not repairable? and am I able to advise them where the car is now even though AAMI had transported the car from the towing centre to their own yard. I submitted a complaint regarding this and had a AAMI representative called me back, to advise the claim has been processed and he will have the team arrange the payout paid into my account, 3 days later I receive a call from AAMI's investigations team to advise they need to here in my own words what happened to the car. AAMI's service is inconsistent, extremely aggressive, at times comments completely uncalled for.
AAMI do not honour their PDS
AAMI have denied my insurance claim based on an irrelevant exclusion in their PDS. According to AAMI, they do not cover a stolen car claim if the car was for sale at the time it was stolen! This is contrary to their PDS (which logically excludes cover AFTER the car has been sold) and should go as a fair warning to anyone considering AAMI as an insurer. They have been slow to acknowledge and process the clam and continue to draw it out as long as possible. I am now being forced to go to AFCA for a fair outcome.
poor and lazy service
very terrible and poor service of aami car insurance.. My care was stolen two month ago..... still claim has not resolved yet. I dont know what they want to prove. I have been suffering without a car. but they dont have feeling of any suffering ..
whenever i called them , they have only one answer.. the claim in in process with the investigation. although, they have debited basic premium on the 1st day of claim...
poor service ..

AAMI are the worst insurance company I've dealt with.
It was good value but not if they never planned to lodge a form I made, then it's quite a waste of money! It took about 10 days to get told we won't be getting help by AAMI. I have been with AAMI for about 4 years now and really regret my choice. I just hope everyone else heads my warning and cancels their AAMI policies. AAMI gave me the worst time rejecting my claim over and over. I just found out it's only going to cost $600 to fix this issue so now AAMI has lost a customer with 2 cars that has never filed a claim in 4 years. I'm changing to ...RACV as AAMI have no loyalty, they are greedy and have no customer service skills. All they had to do was offer to pay my insurance claim and I wouldn't of even accepted it so they have lost alot more than $600
10 years customer, but never again.
Been with the company over 10 years, no claims etc , When I was rear ended, I was at fault because I was coming from a merging lane, but apparently the law is wrong.
“Here the blue car must give way to the orange.”
Avoid at all cost. Please read before you consider dealing with aami.
I am having a NOT at Fault claim which AAMI unable to settle fairly.
It has been over 1 months since my car was heavily damaged in not at fault accident while being parked on the road. I have provided AAMI with all the details of at fault party and other party admitted his fault.
My car is 2016 Land Rover ended up with back damage and most likely with gear box damage and being towed away to multiple smash repairers for assessments and quotes. One of the quotes I have seen were in excess of $30K without quote for gear box. After multiple time...

Unlucky I'm with AAMI
I had a minor crash in the front, I was told to take it to Capital SMART. They had it for 48 hours. I picked my car up and went home. When I got home I realised my windscreen was cracked. I took it back and they said they dropped the bonnet on it. I noticed the whole front end was out of alignment so I took it to my panel beaters and they told me Capital SMART had glued the radiator support panel back on instead of welding it. The whole front end is a disgusting mess. Unlucky I'm with AAMI.
AAMI Roadside assist damaged my car.
I used AAMI's Roadside assist (an add on cost with comprehensive insurance) & the contractor they used damaged my car. I rang AAMI & told them what had happened & they asked me to get a proof of the damaged caused as the contracted company they use were strongly denying it. I went to an independent instrument's specialist who gave me a written statement of the damage & how it was caused through contractor error. AAMI rejected this & basically said it was my word against there contractors (who were just trying to cover their own butt). Nice way ...to treat a long loyal customer! Gives me no confidence at all that if I were in a more expensive accident that they would even be of any support. For a company who's job it is to chase down the liability of incidents, when it came to their liability they avoided it like a plague to the extent they would not even phone the 3rd party specialist who could prove that their contracted service man was lying. The lady I dealt with on the phone was like a robot & could not be reasoned with at all, her tactic was to try & steamroll me!
Will never recommend AAMI insurance to anyone.
I heard great things about AAMI although it seems that AAMI is going downhill with it's service in providing support when needed. Taking money from people is what they do best.
I waited 5 months for my claim to be processed and recieve an outcome. I've just received a call to inform me that after waiting 5 months will no vehicle and no communication from their end that the claim has not been successful.
This means that I am out of pocket and no longer have a vehicle and have to take legal actions...against the other party. I don't have insurance with AAMI although the other party does. He has shared his concerns with me of not being able to get in touch with AAMI and get an outcome at a more reasonable timeframe. 5 months is just insane. Pick up your game AAMI because at this rate you will no longer exist in the future.
Questions & Answers
I had a trolley driver damage my car while it was parked. 'Hit and Run' situation and there is shopping centre video evidence showing what happened. However, AAMI in their wisdom have decided to deem that the excess paid to have my car repair will not be refunded on the basis that I did not provide the at-fault person's details? How could I as I was not there when this happened. Seems like a clever way to avoid the work involved in clearing me and going after the trolley-company contractor's insurance company to pay for my damages. It this not part of the Insurance service?
How do you decide who is at fault for collision
It goes by the road laws. For example, if the other person was supposed to give way and you were already in the intersection, then the other person is at fault.
Hi Wendy! Well it depends if you think fault of the other party, of course they will fight for you but it needs justification. Proof thanks
Why is my claim review taking so long I am homless and live out the car I suffer a neurological disease that causes me to stutter AAMI thought they put the call on hold but took it off for me to hear them picking on my stutter saying nnnnooooo moooonnnnneeeyyyy fffffooooorrrrr hhhhimmmm I have contacted 2gb and am contacting channel 9 I just wanted to hurt myself after hearing the mocking and have only just been released from hospital

Underwritten by the Suncorp Network, AAMI offers four car insurance policies: CTP green slip for NSW, ACT and SA, Comprehensive, Third Party Property Damage Only, and Fire, Theft and Third Party Property Damage.
Points of praise for AAMI:
- AAMI's top score was given for its timeliness in responding to claims.
- Friendly and personable customer service was appreciated. Two customers reported AAMI ‘going above and beyond’ by helping them generously during times of financial hardship.
- Multiple reviewers reported that AAMI offered to organise Ubers from the repairer to and from their homes. Others enjoyed a smooth and hassle-free experience when making claims, with quick response times from AAMI.
Pain points with AAMI:
- AAMI’s chosen repairers and roadside-assist contractors were thought to be low quality
- Premiums increasing considerably even with no claims being made (this increase in premiums appeared to also apply to customers who had taken out multiple policies with AAMI, e.g. home and contents insurance along with car insurance).
