Saved Nothing and received poor service
Very disappointed had over 35 lights replaced.
Electrician did a poor job not coming when arranged then missing some he couldn’t be bothered reaching. No change to electrical bill. I contacted Sailax and operator said they are a small team no time to respond to complaints.
Wouldn't waste my time with this company. Turned up 3 hours late and wouldn't change the back floodlights as he deemed it unsafe. I have managed to do it very safely as required over the last 10 years or so. I'm only 170 cm and can EASILY reach these bulbs from the bottom step of my short step ladder. I wanted two hardwired smoke detectors replaced as they are about 20 years old and had long expired. I thought $88.00 each was a reasonable price and told the office I wanted to go ahead. The attending electrician told us the smoke detectors Accre...dited Power supplied were poor quality and the company makes a lot of money from replacing them and advised us not to proceed. I have since paid my electrician to replace the smoke detectors. Not sure whether the attending electrician is lazy or just in a hurry to get to the next job. Either way, not exactly the poster boy for Accredited Power.
Beware do not use them false advertising using the government
They are a waste of taxpayers money! They are using this as a way to steal money from the government subsidy. They canceled my appointment 4 times and finally the electrician called [Name Removed] came and took my brand new outdoor flash light and replaced it with one that does not work without telling me. I rang the next day asking for my light back and was told someone will call and of course no one did, so I rang again and each time I rang they kept putting me through to a different department with no result so I rang again and this time I was told "I can't hear you, you are cutting out" excuse, and hanged up on me. They used this same excuse again and again. They are creating stress, not a solution. Do not call them.
Atrocious Customer Service, and will not take Responsibility for there Errors
Booked an upgrade for LED’s for the 1st March Monday, received an SMS confirmation on Sunday that installation will happen on the 1st March. They didn’t turn up after waiting from 12pm to 5pm. Called to complain all they could say we tried calling you on Saturday to reschedule. If that was the case why did I receive a confirmation SMS, they couldn’t provide an explanation all they were interested is to reschedule no compensation that I took a day of from work to accommodate a five hour wait.
Would not recommend them to do anything at your home
Dishonest and uses intimidating and bullying tactics to get you to submit
I too received one of the flyers for free halogen replacement. I called and booked electing to get the premium upgrade at a cost of $19.95/ Downlight (we have 16). I agreed to this and a booking was made. At this time I was notified that if they are on dimmers, which mine are, they need to be compatible with LED and may need to be changed at a cost of $60 each.
We have a neighbour who is an electrician and he came over and changed our dimmers so that they were LED compatible before the Accredited Power Saver electrician turned up.
When the ...electrician from Accredited Power Saver turned up (not sure if he was sub contracted or not) he was rude, intimidating and aggressive. I introduced myself and he mumbled his name and pushed his way in to my house. He then proceeded to tell me I needed to replace the dimmer switches, without even inspecting them to see if they were LED compatible or not - which is the part that is in the wall. All he had to do was to pull the face plate off to see what was operating the dimmer knob but that was too hard. I explained to him that we had already had them upgraded and they are LED compatible, he then went ballistic. He said “how does your friend know what lights I’m installing to be compatible?” and I pointed to the brochure from his company and said I showed him this so he knows exactly what make and model of lights we have chosen to be installed. This threw his slightly but he then just decided that more intimidation and aggression was the way to get me to submit to his dishonest work practices. He raised his voice and said I’m not doing the lights if you won’t get the dimmers completely replaced. I knew they didn’t need replacing and that I was being hoodwinked so said I wasn’t going to agree to that. He then threatened that if I cancelled he would charge me a $10 fee to cancel the job. At this point I just wanted him out of my house so I said fine I will cancel the job and went to get my wallet to pay him his $10. As he saw me doing this he then changed his mind and said oh no it’s $10/light so you owe me $160 to cancel. I pointed out that a cancellation policy isn’t anywhere on the flyer and that if there is such a policy it doesn’t change in the space of 30seconds. He was just hell bent on ripping me off any way he could manage. He left empty handed and I never want to see this company again. Extremely annoyed that this technician thinks that being a bully who is rude, intimidating, aggressive and dishonest is an acceptable way to behave! I wonder if the NSW govt is aware of the standover tactics that are being employed by this company +/or sub contractor during this govt subsided programme?
Do not use them
A friendly but lazy electrician who used different products with less functionality without asking first (ato save time). Didn’t complete the job as he kept delaying, rescheduling several times and not keeping to agreed timeframe.
We had an ‘electrician’ come out on Tuesday and since our halogens are hardwired in he said that they need to be changed to plug in type for extra $$ , we said sure no worries, he said we would be back on Saturday,
Come Thursday he calls and says that he’s going away for 4 weeks and can’t do it and won’t rebook,
Mind you he didn’t leave any business card and turned up in his Toyota Camry and didn’t look professional at all,
Curious to see if he was even qualified?
Do not recommend
Would not recommend. Had an electrician organised to come out to replace our halogen downlights to LED. When he showed up, he took a few downlights out and said because he had to go into the roof, he couldn't do the job, as it was 'a waste of his time'. He was rude, didn't even apologize, and left within 5 minutes. We organised another company to replace our downlights and they were in the roof for less than 2 minutes, and all downlights replaced in under 30 minutes. Nothing but lazy and rude electricians working for this company. Take your money elsewhere
They did not meet the pre-booked time.
Bad customer service as they could not care less when the order was cancelled due to not being able to come on the day.
Totaly dishonest advertising by the Accredited Power Saver. I have registered for the LED Home Replacement Program (HEER), met all the criteria but for some reason the Accredited Power Saver refused to do the job. They have waisted plenty of my time requesting various information, including photos of the downlights to be replaced and at the end did not provide any explanation why they will not do the job. Keep away from them as far as you can.
Would not recommend this company for replacement of home globes ESPECIALLY if you have DIMMERS
Would not recommend this company for replacing down lights especially if you have dimmers. There was never a mention or discussion about the dimmer switches not being compatible. I spent a couple of$ hundred dollars replacing the dimmer transformers ($9.95) as they didn't even bring the right lights that I originally order($19.95).
Had a light blow after 2 days and then other flickering problems. After several calls they finally got back to me and sent out 2 new globes.
After several more calls over about 1 to 2 months some one finally got bac...k to me and said I would have to get my own electrician to fix and would be $60 each dimmer switch because your dimmer switches weren't compatible probably because there to old this was over the phone, apparently this is very common. Didn't offer a refund or any help. Customer service was very disappointing. My lights are constantly flickering and going on and off. Very, very disappointing Be careful they are only interested in taking your environmental credits for changing lights.. ***nsw government should look into this and get this company to explain things properly.*** The last conversation I had with this company on Friday the 3rd of July 2020 was, we don't want to scare people with to much cost.
Rip off and messy
Don't waste your time with this mob- better off getting your own electrician to install as we were left with lights hanging out of the roof, mess all over the floors and cupboards and overcharged for disconnecting switches that wren't even replaced?. There is nothing free about this service
Misleading and deceptive advertising
With around 150 downlights in my house I was careful to calculate the likely cost of the swap out - throughout my numerous conversations and in the confirmed booking, I was advised it would be $9.95 per downlight if I kept them on the dimmer, or free plus $9.95 per dimmer if I chose to remove it instead. I calculated around $1200 based on number of downlights on dimmers. However, when the electrician attended he advised it was an additional $60 per dimmer as they had to be replaced. This was not quoted or even suggested as a possibility previou...sly. It adds about $600 to my job. I called the company to object, as this was sprung on me unexpectedly. In my opinion they bait customers with low up front costs and fail to educate that there is likely additional charges. My house is probably on the extreme end with number of downlights and dimmers etc. But I had the day off work and wanted to go ahead, but i got no resolution at all after speaking to multiple people at Accredited Power Saver. They told me just to replace with no dimmer and then I'd be fine. But that is not what I wanted to achieve at all. Very frustrating. There is no doubt there are people who get caught out by this and just pay a bit extra here and there, but it all adds up to money they were not quoted or warned about. In my case I went ahead with a limited amount of work, as the electrician they had sub contracted was extremely professional and he should not have been caught in the middle of that situation. I'll now have to pay someone separately to do the rest of the work that I did not go ahead with.
Changed my whole house Downlights with them. They used Embertec LED lights. Now 5-6 lights are blown and have been told By their customer service that I can’t get replacement globes and have to call electrician to change the whole wiring and globe. They shouldn’t be allowed to operate in Australia. Will be reporting them to ACCC.
Guys also check reviews for Embertec Led. Please save your money and time and stay away from them.
Harrasing Phonecalls, They will never stop calling you!
They will not stop calling you, I have left many requests. I just called them yesterday the man told me he would take my number off the record, today they called me another 2 times and left mesages. No respect - it has got the point where I am leaving an official complaint. I have never experienced anything like this in my life!
Questions & Answers
Does this offer replace the screw globes in downlights as well. All for $33.00 total?
As long as the electrician has the globes in his van then yes. Our job inside the house did not have screw globes but externally because the electrician had a couple of spotlights in his van he changed ours. They were screw in spotlights.
Most of the 5 Star reviews are written in a similar way... "professional, polite, efficient ". So all of them look like fake reviews - especially when most of all the other reviews are rated at 1 Star.
I too am curious how many of the 5 star reviews are 'one-off' reviewers. No mention of additional costs from them or if the led lights lasted.........
Hi guys. I just came on here to rate the Accredited Power Saver group and thought I would reply to you comment. I saw it when I was researching whether the flyer I had received in my mailbox (in a suburb of Newcastle, NSW) from Accredited Power Saver some time ago was a real thing and not a scam. I decided to try it when I read some of the reviews on this site and also saw a review on Mr Gadget site (https://www.gadgetguy.com.au/free-led-downlight-bulbs-stop-the-energy-rip-off/) I called last week and an electrician came out this morning and replace 22 of my downlights with halogens to LED globes. The brand of globes was Ecomatters MR16, no idea if they are good. Hope so. They were compatible with my existing transformers so I didn't have to pay extra and I didn't have any dimmers either, which can cost additional. But all this was explained to my on the phone before the electrician came out. When the electrcian arrived he did an assessment and said it wouldn't cost more than the $33. Took only 30 minutes. I asked the electrician and he is a subcontractor, so just a local guy. Assuming the lights last for years, I am super happy I called. I am telling my friends and family about the program.
