Son Doong Discovery - a once in a lifetime experience
This tour is not for the faint hearted: you will encounter leeches, you will hike over mountains, you will navigate across underground rivers and you will not sleep comfortably for two nights. But these are minor inconveniences for what will be a mind blowing experience. Trek through some of the last remaining pristine wildernesses in Vietnam, see amazing butterflies, listen to calling gibbons and experience the overwhelming magnificence of the largest cave in the world. Your crew, including guides and porters will be excellent and your food will be plentiful and tasty. We made this trip with our two teenagers and they did really well. There will be some climbing and abseiling but not too extreme. This is our second trip and we are already planning a third. Tips: you should be moderately fit. Carry the bear essentials as you have to carry your own gear. Don't bother with heavy hiking boots but instead, invest in some trekking sandals. Bring long socks with a tight weave for leeches. Bring electrolytes/hydrolytes and drink plenty of water. While water is provided, you will need more than what the porters have carried in. Bring water treatment tabs or steripen pen. And above all, bring a sense of adventure! Please be respectful of the environment and tread lightly within the cave.
