Stay away from Actron and tell your builder to consider another brand! – Stay away from this locally made product. We had one installed in our new house build. Compressor has to be replaced in the first few months of operations. Runs extremely noisy in heat mode, I hate to think what my neighbours think when we need to run it to heat our home. We only received an office style controller with the unit and there is no… Read more
way to upgrade it to a smart controller as neither Actron own solution or any other smart home device is compatible with the unit. The only option is a complete replacement. In todays world of technology this is a joke for a air conditioner. Should have gone with an import that would have been cheaper and more functional.
Absolutely appalled at the treatment by Actron!! – The technician has been out three times in the past two months and claims it’s incapable of coping in Melbourne’s weather, yet their website boasts -10degrees capability of running ability and maximum 50degrees heat. They claim it’s running exactly how it’s supposed to, yet it’s constantly going into defrost mode & shutting itself down. I’m at my wits end and cannot afford to be replacing this unit after barely being installed 1.5yrs. Show details
11 months after install and issue still not resolved – Constant whistling within pipes from compressor and throughout house. Identified on day of install in aug2020. Actron confirmed “known issue with this model” see if this review will resolve issue! Show details

Actron 14kw esp unit – Hi everyone, Just wanted to let people know that I have an Actron 14kw ESP unit, it's 6 years old, had 1 compressor failure in year 2, softstarter failure in year 5(last year) and it now has a just done a second compressor a few weeks ago, I'm a frigy as well and am a bit disappointed in the reliability of the product, especially being Australian… Read more
designed, I have installed many ac over the years, never had a call back due to a refrigeration failure, I will be installing a Dakin unit next couple of weeks.

Totally unreliable – I had this unit installed about 8 years ago. As I don't have it anymore I can't remember if it was the 131e or the 151 e. What I do know is that is let us down every summer at least once and the service was terrible, at some point we had to wait for almost 4 weeks. I had the details of all breakdowns once written up here on Productreview, but I… Read more
can not find them anymore. We never used it for heating but for cooling only. It never had a hard life. After the warranty was over I used other aircon service people. They informed me that the issue of the soft starter failing so often is a sign that the compressor is on the way out. Well, this is exactly what happened last summer. Obviously Actron wasn't to interested while it was under warranty. I now have a similar Daiken unit as the repair of the Actron was close to the price of the whole Daiken unit. Besides that I would still have the Actron and would probably have the next hick up soon. Having experienced such a low quality unit combined with its service I can honestly advice to stay away from Actron units altogether. Adding up all the costs including purchase, installation and all the repairs over its service life ( just the unit not the energy consumption) it has cost me roughly over $ 2500 per year. Absolutely disgraceful.
Hi Thorsten, We've sent you a PM.
works great, terribly noisy, groans up an down – The unit is super good, heating and cooling, controls are good, fan only mode is useful, mine has the noise reduction blanket they fit to the compressor area, hate to think whats its like without one. Cooling mode is tolerable but in winter when you turn on the unit and we have 13 degrees temp, it is crazy noisy outside for about 10-15 minutes,… Read more
very heavy drone that tonally goes up and down and comes through the house double brick walls and I'm sure ticks off the neighbors. After a while settles down and not too bad. Would look to another brand next time, however maybe they all are noisy. regards mike

That's better that's Actron – The unit is the best thing i have ever bought and it copes well on high demand and extended periods. Very Satisfied with the product the features and controls are a bonus and simplicity at it's best. The air conditioner is perfectly built for this harsh Australian weather. Show details · 1
A/C - money well spent – Beyond happy with this A/C it ran almost everyday during summer, i must say how impressed i am with the unit in high tempreature days, compared to our last unit, it is such a huge difference. We cannot fault the unit - happy we chose to go with extra zones so we can turn off the rooms we are not using. The company who installed it also went above and beyond in selling its features and helping using design zone layout to best suit our house. Show details
Very Happy – Whisper quiet and simple to operate. The system meets all the requirements that I have for keeping a two story west and north facing home comfortable. The system cools selected rooms only, maintains the required temperatures and quickly cools the house down when needed. In summary an excellent A/C system. Show details
Australian and Great product – Smart system, every room is now co trolled individually with a switch and sensor in each room. Looks very tidy and very smart- it switches a room off automatically when it reaches temperature so no power wasteage at night when everything is already cool. Perfect for my young kids to keep everyone happy! Show details
Warranty worth nothing – Water was leaking on my ceiling so called actron, they came and said the broken pipe was not covered under warranty as somebody had walked on it. House only built 4.5 years ago so everything was done then nobody goes in the roof and we even have the manhole locked also the unit is suspended so no way could the pipe be walked on. Charged by tech… Read more
who basically accused us of walking on it and when I said will take further he said you don't pay I will go back up and cut the pipe. Have always recommended this aircon but no more as after sales is rubbish. So invisible msn that lives in my roof stay away from the aircon.
Large noisy clunker – Actron have a good sales pitch with their "Aussie developed, rock solid, energy saving units". Well after 3 years with this unit I can say this only talk. The noise and vibration is atrocious. It is not only loud but annoying as the old school compressor (no inverters here) switches on and off in a vain attempt to save you energy. It is chalk… Read more
and cheese between this and a Japanese unit. You can hear our unit from the street 30m away.
It does not save energy. The ESP only seems to make the fan run on low whilst the outdoor unit continues to labour away to get the temp correct which it can never do on a low fan speed. It therefore runs longer than it neeeds to get there, using more energy overall.
There is no auto fan - we are constantly turning it up and down manually to get it right.
I just wish we bought a Fujitsu or other quality Japanese unit rather than this old tech rubbish.
Find out how ActronAir ESP Plus SRV151E (14.4kW, Single Phase) compares to other Ducted Air Conditioners
Know better, choose better.
Excellent performance in every respect – Our home is 22 years old. The original owners installed an ActonAir ducted system. We have owned the home for 10 years. The original system performed without fault until winter 2015 when a control board on the outside unit failed after 21 years. The replacement part was going to cost over $600 so we opted to install a replacement ESP Plus system… Read more
because it offered greater energy efficiency. The ability to close down to a single zone is brilliant. The new system was installed in November 2015 with all parts replaced except the return duct and filter. The system has effortlessly handled it's first summer and winter. The total average daily electricity consumption of our house is just under 10kWh (we have a gas hot water system and cooktop) which indicates that the system does run very efficiently. The original ActronAir system was installed by Nicholls Air in Seven Hills and we used them to supply and install the new system. Nicholls Air has provided good service and seems to 'know what they are doing'. If the ESP Plus system has a 'problem' it's that it is so so so quiet you have to put a hand up to a duct to be convinced it is running!! From a user perspective, the biggest plus is the extreme evenness of the temperature control. There is no hiatus caused by the system cutting in and out as the thermostat controls the temperature around the set level.
very good – We had our ActronAir ducted system installed by A Grade Air Conditioning at Seven Hills early Dec.2015. The system works very well and quickly cools the house on the hottest of Western Sydney days. A Grade were prompt and courteous and I thoroughly recommend ActronAir and A GRADE Air Conditioning.
Fantastic product – We had this unit installed and could not be happier, works great, does the job and we also had actron connect added, on our way home from Sydney just click on the app and turn the system on, East Coast Air in Maitland installed it and were the utmost professionals, I don't think you can go past this brand on quality, price and user friendliness, I… Read more
let the experts advise me on the correct size for my situation and was a little hesitant on there recommendation, I actually thought it was too small, but they got it right, I would recommend this brand to anyone that wants to listen.
UPDATE, 1 month after instal and Actron contacted us to say they had a reason to believe the compressor in ours was a possible problem and it may only last 5 to 8 years, so they sent out East Coast Air from Maitland and had it replaced, all done professionally and quickly, still no problems and I did notice our electricity bill had dropped from last year, we had a split system in and it was costing a fortune, hopefully summer will be cheap as well. Also we had the module put in so we can turn this on and off from anywhere as long as my internet is working. In the event that you use East Coast Air from Maitland, ensure they will carry out your yearly service, we signed a contract with them to have it done and they have now told us it is too far to travel, Actron 10/10, East Coast Air 4/10,
Another repair – I had my SRV15 fail with the deaded soft-start capacitor failure in the compressor (fan works, but compressor doesn't start). This was fixed under warranty the first time, but the fridge mechanic stated that it was a common problem with them. The second time I called Actron and they wouldn't fix it out of warranty, even though it appears to be… Read more
a design flaw. When I started calling repairers, they all suspected the soft-start capacitor straight away.
Reliable home climate control at excellent value – December of last year, my home air conditioning unit broke down--for good, just in time for the holidays. Spending the holidays freezing cold was never an option so I immediately searched online for possible replacement options. The trouble was that most of my savings went to my christmas shopping, and the cost of a new and branded… Read more
air-conditioning unit is something way beyond what remains in my pocketbook. Desperately looking for great deals on air conditioning units online, I ended up opening this page. I was introduced to ActronAir ESP Plus 15kW. To sum it all up, my first ActronAir ESP Plus unit saved my pocketbook from getting all drained. It costed way cheaper than my old AC brand, yet true to its operation features as well as the product reviews published on this page, it pretty much covered the climate control needed by the whole of upstairs and half of downstairs of my 32 sq. m. home. All the good things about this unit kept coming. The unit came with a 5-year warranty and a convenient service network, which the technician patiently explained to me in detail. Thanks everyone for the help! ActronAir is now my trusty AC brand and I would certainly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a relatively cheaper yet equally dependable replacement to broke down branded air conditioning units. great value, performs as advertised
