I purchased an AHBeard Vitality mattress and electronic base from Harvey Norman Midland WA in Feb 21. I have previously posted how disappointing this product was on this page but what consumers need to know now, is not to waste your time taking the retailer to court. I did this last week and although I thought the compensation I was seeking would be forthcoming, I lost the case for not having convincing enough evidence. It was made clear to me that although both air chambers had failed over a period of six months thus rendering the bed usele...
Read moress and eventually causing black mould in both, I needed an engineer in the courtroom to explain to the judge how this came about due to a drop in air pressure, condensation and then mould. I also needed someone from the ATO to tell the judge that charging gst on this ensemble is illegal as it is a duty free item so I lost on that point too. Then there is the electronic base which failed twice and was finally returned to the store after six months. All this the judge seemed to think was okay. After the bed was returned to Harvey Norman, I walked across the road to Bedshed and bought an electronic base and mattress for considerably less than the AHBeard ensemble and as good quality and haven't had a moment's problem with it. I would avoid the combination of these two, AHBeard and Harvey Norman Midland when you can get, better service, in fact, better everything across the road.Purchased in .
Had trouble with this mattress from day one which was in Feb 2021 and also trouble with the retailer Harvey Norman. I think the mattress was second hand and arrived with the problem. One side of the mattress kept loosing air. My partner suffered back pain as a result and refused to sleep on it. Had the rep from AH Beard come out twice with the Harvey Norman franchisee but were unable to correct the constant deflating of one side of the mattress. Eventually, both sides of the mattress completely lost all air. Then the metal base literally co...
Read morellapsed and I was unable to raise the head end at all. Reported all this to consumer affairs twice to get some satisfactory response from Harvey Norman who were reluctant to acknowledge a problem. Finally Harvey Norman offered to refund the full amount paid which was $4,500.00. After the bed had been returned, six months after purchase, when it got to the store, the Franchisee phoned me to say there was mould on both internal chambers but no visible sign of water on the outside of the mattress. I visited the store and she was right but instead of investigating the cause of the moisture in the mattress by contacting the manufacturer, she accused me of wetting the mattress myself. Instead of refunding the whole amount she retained the cost of replacing the two mouldy chambers from the refund. She posted a cheque by express post hoping to get rid of me. Also, I was charged gst but I have been told electronic beds are gst free. The bed I purchased six months ago and have slept on every night despite all the discomfort and agro with Harvey Norman is now on the floor of their store being sold to some unsuspecting purchased as a new mattress. Upon investigating how mould could get inside a mattress, I discovered this. "If a compressor fails, there is a drop in pressure and can cause condensation resulting in mould." I have been in contact with the Public Health Dept of WA and this is what they said in answer to my question about mould in a mattress " Mould can certainly cause a number of health issues, the main ones being allergy responses, such as runny nose, headache, itchy eyes, etc. However mould can also worsen existing respiratory ailments, such as asthma and bronchitis."Purchased in at Harvey Norman Retail Stores for $4,500.

The biggest waste of money, it was like sleeping in a canoe either side with a hump in the middle. It was sent back to A H Beard and lord only knows what they did to it. Another time they said it was the chambers so they exchange them and it made no difference. We have since bought a new mattress and that very pricey heap of excrement is in the shed. Love that you read other reviews and the problem is the same but when you contact A H Beard this is a one off.
Purchased in at Harvey Norman for $2,500.

THe mattress started to sag on both sides where we sleep with a hump in the centre.
I am not sure what is causing the sagging, the spring coils or the topping. -- AH beard first took the mattress and did something to it. It was better for about a week and started sagging again.
I had to buy a Selay now which is not sagging.
Purchased in for $1,200.
Hi Roelf
What you're describing happens with most mattresses depending on the comfort feel level. The important part about settling in a new mattress, is mattress care.
That is ensuring regardless of...
Hi
How would you suggest I rotate the mattress to get rid of the hump in the center? Should I rotate it 90 degrees?
Hi Roelf
Thank you for your reply. That's a valid question. Its about using the entire surface area and rotating the mattress helps depending on where the occupants sleep. Laying in the centre of matt...

Know better, choose better.
The most adaptable and independent style of mattress concept available with your partner. Back pain has disappeared for the first time since getting rid of the traditional mattress design ie springs after many years. Having a king spit has finally separated the motion at night with a restless partner that uniquely allows also the facility of lifting the bed at head, foot or in a zero gravity position which is very comfortable. Worth the money.
Hi Baby Bear
Its great to hear that you are so happy with your mattress.
Thanks for the great review...
Yes still sleeping like a baby.

How do we store a sleepsense mattress
Hi Wendy
Thank you for your question.
Ideally, the mattress should be store inflated. ...
One of the bladders has started leaking from one of the molded corner areas on the under side of the bladder. There is no puncture from external sources. It seems that it’s just given away probably from a blemish in the bladder material or in the moulding/welding process of making the bladder. It’s part of a Queen mattress, the whole mattress is useless now. It’s still well within warranty having been purchased fro Harvey Norman in February of 2017. What can I do to get this bladder fixed or replaced in a timely manner.
Contact AH Beard. It should still be under warranty. I bought mine and recall there was a ten year warranty. Anyway they should be able to supply a new bladder. Give them a call
I had very similar. They replaced the bladder. We had mattress about 3 months. Would never buy one again. Be persistent. I had to keep chasing it up.
I found the Customer Service at AH Beard wonderful & very helpful to deal with. They'll get this sorted out very Quickly for you. You just need to log your problem with them and they'll attend to it as quickly as COVID-19 transport woes allow.
We have persevered with this mattress and finally given in and purchased a new mattress as the most uncomfortable mattress we have ever slept on - does not support the body whilst sleeping and wake with a bad back. Only decent night's sleep we have had is when we have not been home. Don't think this can be rectified just a bad design with cheap foam and two air beds - have tried bed toppers and still no good as virtually no support in the middle of the bed - vastly overpriced at the retail price in the thousands - replaced with a $600 mattress and finally sleeping
What a shame I'm sorry to hear that. We have had the mattress for nearly 5 years with no issues like that. Mind you it does sound like it wasn't pumped up firm enough which would cause the centre sag ...
