I wish I'd seen these reviews before .. could have saved myself $49.99. Bought an Adventuridge Bug Zapper in 16/02/23 for my balcony. Easy to charge and use .. BUT it doesn't work! Tried it a few times and NOT ONE BUG zapped. Back in the box now. I still have the receipt so may try to get reimbursement (in my dreams, eh?) Show details

It's a blue led with zero zapping abilities. And a normal led white light underneath. It's a scam, cannot kill inspects at all. Should be removed from shelves for outright lies. Been on 2 weeks in a caravan, that everytime the door opens insects fly in.. not one has ever been zapped. Show details

Bought for camping trips – Bought this to go camping. Unlike many other reviews mine works well enough. I can hear it zaping and lamp seems to attract bugs. Flies do seem to be able to ignore it at times. Mozzies and sandflies seem to fall for the light and get fried. I have used it more than a dozen times and it still works. I don't take my plug in one anymore as the last couple of trips it just stayed in the camping box. So for me it has been good so far. Show details

Dead out of the box – Bought it at Aldi Hervy Bay, Qld , never took it out of the box shifted back to Melbourne ,finally took it out of the box for the summer mosquitoes and flies. Charged up using the included charger unit light was dead sticker on the bottom says the flourescent tube CANNOT be replaced, obviously receipt is lost and box recycled before using.. Show details

Doesn't attract bugs! – How does this product work if bugs not attracted to it whether in or outdoors. Actually held it up to the mosquitoes and not one was attracted to it and nothing "zapped". A waste of my AUD$59, it's been sitting in a box for 12 months now and have tried it three times. No wonder it's discontinued. Show details

Absolute rubbish – Charged battery overnight before use as directed. Used twice & lamp stopped working after opening bottom tray to remove the few bugs that were actually attracted. Have tried charging overnight again but lamp still will not light. Purchased at Aldi. Easy to use certainly, but pointless if it doesn't work. Show details

Total Rubbish. Do not buy – We purchased the first bug zapper in January. . . After two uses switched on and the UV Lamp doesn't work. We saw Aldi was getting more stock in February so waited to return on the 60 day money back deal and swap for a new one. . Second lamp lasted two uses and has the same fault, the lamp doesn't light. We returned for a third attempt as Aldi… Read more

still had stock and yet again the lamp doesn't light. I tested the UV LED and it's OK so there's a fault in the circuit for the lamp. All we do is switch the lamp on and off. So why this recurring fault. Thought at first it might be a charging issue, yet the last lamp has failed after 30 minutes use. Switched off and a few day later try switching on and nothing.

Overpriced and uses old technology (lead acid battery & fluoro lamp) – Just purchased an "Adventuridge Rechargeable Bug Zapper" from local ALDI in Sydney. There was no description on the outside or in the included instruction manual as to the type or mAh rating of the included battery so I removed the 4 philips screws at the base to have a look. I was unpleasanty surprised to find out it had a 6V lead acid, brick… Read more

style battery. I'm not a fan of lead acid batteries as they seem to need to be recharged regularly and don't handle being run down too low (same as car battery and hence why they say to run your car regularly to recharge the lead acid battery). The lamp also appears to be old technology, a fluorecent tube. LED lamps are supposed to be longer lasting, more energy efficient and not contain toxic mercury vapour. I can't remember if I payed $49 or $59 for this product but it seems overpriced for old hat technology. I'm going to return it and buy the a model from Bunnings or elsewhere that has lithium ion rechargable batteries and LED lamps.

P.S. I found a link to the Aussie distributor for this product. It seems they are also selling the same product under two names. The ALDI model is called "Adventuridge Rechargeable Bug Zapper" https://bugzapperlamps.com.au/product/adventuridge-rechargeable-bug-zapper-63258/ The other brand they sell directly or sell through Bunnings and possibly other retailers is called "Stinger Bug Sentinel Rechargeable Zapper" https://bugzapperlamps.com.au/product/bug-sentinel-bug-zapper-portable-rechargeable-cordless/

It seems they sell a newer model that contains 2x 18650 Li-Ion batteries and an 4W LED lamp at Bunnings for $49 (This is probably what I'll buy to replace the ALDI product): https://www.bunnings.com.au/stinger-rechargeable-bug-zapper-lantern_p0167345

I previously bought a smaller camping light & bug zapper from ALDI which looks similar to this K-mart product which is $15. It's pretty small though so I'm not sure how well it will kill mosquitos. I bought it on the off chance it might kill the odd mosquito that gets into my van or tent when sleeping. That high pitched "Eeeeeeee" noise the mosquito makes in your ear right when you want to sleep, always drives me nuts. If the bug zapper function doesn't do the job well at least it has a camping LED light with 3 different brightness settings. Here's the link to the K-mart product: https://www.kmart.com.au/product/rechargeable-mosquito-zapper/2787317
