Do not recommend to purchase
Only used 3 times now pull cord won’t turn over motor even though Pull cord is working perfectly, an is fitted to motor.
Motor won’t turn , is free for 90 degree turn back an forth, but not 360 turn
Great little Edger.
I currently own a Gardenline lawn edger which I purchased from Aldi model #LE3200P. It’s a great little unit, easy to start, dose a great job with edging. Blade requires replacement which I’ve sourced through Bunnings special order dept. at a cost of $15.30 per unit, taken around 2 weeks for delivery.
Very happy with it.
Purchased in May 2018 at ALDI for $179.00.
Don't bother wasting money
Rang support numerous times 1300855831, for assistance re purchasing new blade for the lawn Edger.
Told each time we would be contacted that day.
Have never received a call back..
No after sale service at all.
Worked a few times and then......
It worked great until the motor seized. I rang the 1300 number. Waste of time. They wouldn't know anything about customer service. I took it to my local mower shop to see if they could fix it. I told them the problem and they still charged me $30 to tell me they couldn't get parts for it. Its hit and miss with Aldi electrical products. If there was a negative rating, I would give it to this product.
Very happy with my easy start Aldi petrol lawn edger.
Aldi petro lawn edger. Have had no issues. Very easy to start. Replaced blade march 2019. Blade replacement purchased from Bunnings Ozito item no.3381116 $15.90 Fitted relatively easy once locking nut loosened.
Purchased in August 2015 at ALDI for $179.00.
Customer care is useless, do not return calls or do things they say. Product is good. For anyone needing a new blade you can get from Bunnings Special Orders as the blade is the same as the Ozito PED-3000. Bunnings Item Number is 3381116. Use the edger on a 3000 square meter block.
Aldi lawn edger
Hi guys, I was interested in the Aldi lawn edger and saw your reviews, and in my research I think the echo is very similar to the Aldi so think the blades may suit also, but take your old blade with you to check and also check in your instruction book on direction to undo nut as most will be clock wise to undo. Hope this helps, but still tossing up wether to pay a bit more for my purchase.
Can't replace or get blades... impossible to get.
The edger looks good.. but when the blade goes... it is impossible to get a replacement blade... Called Aldi... they said they have no parts and to buy a new edger... Heartless... such bad service... Stay clear of Aldi products... buy a known product... that way you can get parts.
Purchased on Saturday 11/8/18 Aldi 4 Stroke Petrol Edger. Assembled unit today 14/8/18,filled with oil and petrol and after a few tries motor cut in and ran smoothly. Started a small edging to see how it went, cut beautifully. As I went along noticed a fine jet of liquid. I assumed at the time it was water/moisture from a brand new motor. Then starting to smell petrol Stopped , placed my hand in the jet and smelt the petrol. Stopped the motor, and still the jet continued. A a minute the jet stopped. Rand Aldi helpline after looking at where th...e fuel was coming from, noticed that it came from where the plastic tube coming from the fuel tank to the carburetor joining onto a metal elbow. Advised the Technician, telling him, that there should have been a circlip to firmly attach the fuel line to the metal intake elbow. I had to drain the fuel, which was quite difficult, and took it back to my Aldi that I purchased it from No offer of a replacement, which i would have taken anyhow due to this safety defect, and refund given. Incidentally last year when I tried buying one of these units, I couldn't as they had been taken off the shelf. Would be reticent in ever buying a petrol anything after this from Aldi.
9000RPMS CANT EVEN GET 1RPM
First time purchasing garden products from ALDI put it all together used aldi oil starts up perfectly started to use it & noticed the blade speed was slow then lifted blade up pressed throttle started to spin a bit then stopped now it won't even spin very disappointed as other products I have bought have been excellent. Will never trust a aldi garden tool again.
Check direction your removal holding nut!
I had the same type of problem, until I realized that indeed to remove the main nut holding on the cutting blade had to be removed in a clock wise direction as do other line trimmer nuts on such cutting and trimming gear.. Yep I even thought about giving it s hot spanner (thank god I didn't) as it wouldn't helped. This is often the case for all line trimmers and lawn edging gear, regardless of brand. Please note directions in its manual and note arrows direction on the large round spacer under the retaining nut on top of the blade.
Can live without it as have needed new blade. So it's useless. As it stands at the moment it's a was
Yes I was until I needed to replace blade. Blade would NOT come of without heating up bolt to remove it. Have asked for new blades well before Christmas . Company is terrible NO customer service what so ever!
It would be nice if you could get the parts. Have rang and asked for new blade with no success.
Not the usual Aldi standard
The first one could not be put together as the holes in the handles for the bolts did not line up, so I had it replaced. Same problem but at least this time I was able to force the bolt through.
After approx 10 minutes of use the motor made some clunking sounds and just stopped. I could not re-start it because the rip cord was locked or jammed. Twice back to the store is my limit, it is obviously poorly made. Apparently two others had been returned to the same store with identical stories to mine.
After using the edger several times with no problems, I went to start it one morning and could not get it to start.I did all the usual checks without finding any faults. Forty years as a mechanic told me there must be a mechanical fault somewhere. So I rang the 1300 number on the edger. A person answered and told a technician would return my call, IT DIDNT HAPPEN. After several hours of cleaning and testing I found that the ignition timing was very incorrect. This I found was caused by the fitting of a too small woodruff key to the crankshaft wh...ich allowed the flywheel assembly to slip on the shaft .A new woodruff key was made and fitted to the crankshaft after minor repairs were carried out. The edger was then assembled and it started first pull.
Good product, very happy with it after two uses
Bought this Lawn Edger for $189 after looking for a while, seemed well priced and thought I would give it a go. Filled it with 30 weight motor oil and premium fuel which I only use in my mower and engine started first go! I did about 70 feet of edging without too much trouble at all. One thing I learned was not to cut too deep at one time, especially since it was the first time the lawn had been "edged" properly. Also one downside is it cant do curved corners, but I can use my whipper snipper for that I guess. I used the machine for the second ...time today at a rental unit. I actually only mow the lawn there and never stay longer than I need to but I got to say I looked forward to using this to do the edging and could not fault it again on the second use. I got a winner here, the engine looks like my Honda whipper snipper and starts just as easy. Good job Mr ALDI, I like this product and I like the price.
Sorry this one's a
10 minutes use, then concked out. Wouldn't restart...Checked the spark plug with the tool provided. Ok...However after much effort. Refused to start, so disappointing as Aldis normally very good high end products. Sorry not this one..phoned 1300355255. --- Answering machine--- run around--- message bank full-- TACTICS--- left an email no response as yet. I don't recommend this lawn edger it's a D o g--------L e m o n ------1st Aldi. Dud.....Ps left an email @ email@example.com
No response as YET...
On purchase it instructed it was not pre-filled with oil. Just a quick look told me this was incorrect and the oil level was perfect. I followed start instructions and pressed primer 6 times. It was still empty so common sense told me pump a few more times until fuel appeared. Started on the first pull. I did some edging and stopped the engine. It started first pull hot and an hour or so after I tried to start it, quick prime and again first pull. Looking at other reviews it looks like they were unlucky. I have a friend with a Honda Atom edger which of course starts easily the same as my Gardenline but his was 7 times the price. For $189 I'll give Aldi a go instead of over $800 for a Honda.
save a little more and get one that works
I used it once. I did have a lot of trouble trying to restart it but eventually it restarted. 6 weeks later it will not start no matter what I do. I got a neighbour who is mechanically savvy but he couldn't start it.
I will try to take it back to Aldi.
I took it back
It was easy to put together but the instructions warn you that the machine is not shipped with oil plus there was a tag on the unit telling you that you must put in 60ml of oil before it was started. I found a container that had a 60ml mark, which I put the oil in which I slowly poured into the motor, with the small funnel provided. Within seconds the oil was overflowing as it already had oil in it. After draining out some of the oil and getting it to the 60ml and filling it with unleaded petrol (min 95RON), it did start with much problem. I us...ed it to cut about a 10M edge and turned it off as I was in a corner. Turned the unit the 90 degrees and tried to start it again but no joy. I was not happy but even gave it another try the following morning before I rang the "help line", which took 3 calls to get through then a 17min. wait. The person was very polite but told me that she would not be able to help but would get a person who knows something about the Lawn Edger to ring me back in the afternoon, which I still have not received. I took it back to Aldi two days later and received a refund as they did not have any units left. One good thing about Aldi is that I have never had a problem getting a refund.
Questions & Answers
I brought a Ferrex Lawn Edger LE3200P from Aldi at Warners Bay NSW 2282 about 2 weeks ago and have used it twice. On using the second time I find there is oil leaking from the oil filter section to the fuel cap. What now?
I do not recommend the Ferrex Lawn Edger
Mine played up from the start, would not start. Eventually got it going, trimming lawn edge to street, when it blew up an fell apart, I burnt my finger picking up the bits.
Not a good design
