I was told I would receive emails with all the new customer offer bla and T&C info etc within a few of days of initial phone canvas and that from date of receiving said emails I then had a the normal 10day cooling off period, as per the Law. That's all well and good.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with my Email address, Inbox, outbox, junk mail settings all A.ok...
Still haven't heard back or received diddly sqwat and guess what... the 10days is here and here's how it is... not 1 second of any minute over the entire said 10days cooling off ...
Tried to find info to make a decision to change- After mediation through PR, there has been progress
Contacted Alinta online to ask for a "quote" to see if they would be better than AGL. They sent a response after 2 days and gave their rates. I asked if i could send them my last AGL electricity bill and if they could give me a response as to how they would have billed me. I again got a response that showed generic rates that they said was based on my properties usage. Major problem was the property that "quoted" against was some 300 km away from my actual property. When i queried that , they claimed the quoted address was correct. Except th...at my address is clearly stated on the AGL bill. After contacting via PR, the person who dealt with my question responded quickly, accurately and seemingly honest. I have decided to try ALINTA for my electricity.

Extremely disappointed with Alinta. Our power bill is 3 times more than it was this time last year with our previous electrical supplier!! And we had a house full of tradesmen renovating last year, yet none now!! And we have 24 strong working solar panels & our bills are still 3 times more than last year!! When I called Alinta multiple times, I've not been given any answers nor help in any way to resolve the problem.
We will be changing back to our previous supplier ASAP, as Alinta DO NOT CARE about their customers!! They just take your money!!
If we had known how BAD they are when we got talked into believing they were cheaper than everyone else, no way we would have changed to them.

Went to move house in the same suburb was told that I would no longer receive the pay on time 28% discount and rate would be higher!! Was told that if I stayed in the same house and not move I could keep receiving the discount. That makes no sense!! Was then hung up on after 40 mins when I asked to speak to a team leader. I called back and was told too bad that’s what it was. No respect for customers or retention. Would not let me speak to a team leader.

Alinta Energy - they don't disconnect my energy
Be alert with Alinta Energy, to connect the power they are fast, but to disconnect they don't do.
Alinta energy did not close my account and disconnect my energy that I have been asking for weeks!
On 26/08 I called Alinta to close my account number 22132513, because I'm not living in Australia anymore.
Also, on 21/08 I sent an email to Alinta asking to close my account.
Over the phone, they said to me, they would disconnect the power on 29/08 (same day of my flight) and I should wait 4 days to receive the last bill.

Huge Electricity Bill
Since switching to Alinta our electricity bill has tripled to $1,552.82 (before pay on time discount) We went through I-select and were told this company would save us money?! Extremely disappointed.

Disgusting company. Great deal? I don't think so. I moved in to a new house on the 24th May and when I was billed Alinta charged me $468 for 54 days of usage. Despite it being more than what I have normally paid, I did not put much thought to it as this was a new place and maybe since it was bigger the consumption would be more as well. However, Alinta included 6 days extra before which I moved in. I called in to clarify and Alinta agreed to remove the extra charges of $40 and would send me a new bill. However, when the new bill arrived it was ...more than the previous bill at $474. This was ridiculous. How could it be more expensive after deducting 6 days of supply charges and what happened to the $40 deduction that was promised. I called in again to clarify and after a long back and forth Alinta agreed that there was something wrong and would correct it and this time the deduction would be more than $40. They told me to wait for the new bill which would arrive within 5 working days. But the next one I received was almost 2 weeks later and was an overdue bill for the previous charges. This issue has not been resolved and I am not sure how long it would take since it has already gone on for 3 months. I would not recommend such a company which lacks trust and morality. The make empty promises and do not follow up on it. Glad I decided to move over to Origin Energy.

I honestly have no idea how these guys are still in operation. There needs to be an investigation done here. we signed up with Alinta when Channel 9 acted as if they gave a hoot about the public and hooked up with utility providers who can save you money. Yeah right. we have forked out consistently since signing up with Alinta. We signed up with our home AND business. We were told that we'd be able to access our accounts online, as this was a major reason we left our old provider. This was the thing we confirmed with them a few times. After sig...ning up, they told us that business bills were not available online. After many times trying to sort this out with them, they never got around to making this happen. A couple of weeks ago we paid a bill of over $700 to Alina. we've never had a bill that high. We only have lights and the internet at work. Oh, and a kettle I use once per day. Yet we paid over $700. We don't ever use the lights as we're in a warehouse with lots of light coming through, and we'd forget to turn the lights off if we used them as it's always bright here anyway, and we'd forget they were on. Today I get a bill for the home, for over $800, for Gas. The 'discount' they give for early payment is fake, as we'd still be paying more than we;'ve ever, ever paid before. We have no children and no bath. We only shower and eat and sleep and work. That's our life and we've always enjoyed it. The ONLY thing we use is our ducted heating for about 5 hours per day. Now, we're working just to pay Alinta. And that's about to change. We're out.
Deceased estate threaten to disconnect

Lived with my nana for 5 years with electricity account in her name. She passed away on the 29th of April, originally no Will was found, so as I lived with her the family ok’d me taking over the bill. I would ZERO star Alinta if I could! I have tried and tried again to get my electricity connected. I have wasted days waiting for someone to show up and connect my power supply only to find out they cancelled my session!! After questioning why, they denied everything and said everything was fine.
I cant say I'm happy paying off someones mortgage to sit in the dark.

Rude Shock with customer care
I have been with Alinta for 3+ year without shopping around. I even prepaid ($1038) to make my life easy and be bill free for a long time. I usually do it for the utilities. Recently I got to know of other providers who dont charge account service fee and I asked Alinta to wave it off too. How they behaved (on call and email) just opened my eyes. I am appalled by the customer service and someone who pay so much extra have to deal with them. SAD. But glad I made my mind to move over to another provider.

Just got our gas bill it has gone up $60 since last quarter, joke is we were away for a time . Rang them (in the (Philippines) and they could not care less about it and they were rude and arrogant. I am taking this further because this is a ripoff. The pay on time discount is fake, the amount is already padded onto the bill. I will be moving from this provider. If you are thinking of using them - don't they are the worst.
I have been with alinta for at least 5 years never had any issues, customer service is lovely and quick to help, my bills are always pretty low around the $200 mark every 3 months for 2 people who use a lot of electricity. be polite when you call they’re people too I’m sure all the angry negative reviews are from people ringing up and abusing! Couldn’t recommend alinta enough I will stay with them for as long as I can!
Avoid this company at all costs and if anybody else in Victoria wants to go to the ombudsmen along with me let me know
I can’t even give this company a one star rating. Just received my first gas bill for 43 days ..$800! I’m one person having two showers max per day and central heating which I use for about half hour in morning and 4 to 5 hours at night. I’m a nurse I’m gone most of the day. I’m phoning the ombudsmen first thing tomorrow. Looks like a few people have complained about this company. I won’t be paying this ridiculously high bill and I’ll be going to another provider. Friends with the same size house and who use theirs more than me have bills a quarter of mine. Alinta can’t seem to wrap their head around how ridiculous this bill is . Do not deal with them!
