Alinta charge double your bill price if you don't pay on time

I have a bill that says Due Date 13 Mar 2024 = $268.80, or $522.06 if paid after 13 Mar 2024, how bad is that, in my opinion this is complete predatory behaviour for people who can't afford to pay. Absolutely disgusting. I don't care if this is due to some pay on time discount deal, this is disgraceful conduct. Show details

Horrible customer service

I've been with Alinta for a few years and never faced an issue. However, last December, I paid my $599 bill through Paypal but that payment was never reflected in my Alinta account. I called customer service more than 10 times now to investigate the issue with no resolution to date. I have provided the payment receipt number and the Paypal reference number yet Alinta responded that they cant find the payment in their system and therefore I have to pay again!!!
No one in Alinta Energy is doing anything to resolve this matter and I have to keep calling the customer service with no help whatsoever. Show details

$22,000 over paid to Alinta - No Help

We overpaid by accident $22,000 to Alinta instead of $220 on Bpay. Alinta promised to pay it back straight away and after several phone calls they still have not refunded it. Not happy at their lack of response to this oversight when we pay our bills to them on time. Lets hope they send it back. When we called again and agian they just kept saying it was with their team and no time frame has been made for the refund. Show details

Great customer service

Was offered a better plan by a staff member on fb messenger when I started a conversation.

I then spoke to someone on the phone (didn’t catch his name) who was lovely, polite and helpful.
He switched my plan over and also helped me to extend my bill due date so that I could pay it once my pay came in and not miss the due date. Show details ·  1

Gas bill has tripled again - when will the price hike end - especially for those who don't have a choice!!!

Living in kalgoorlie means we don't get a choice of gas or power provider we are stuck with same as everyone else here but everyone else - majority is mine workers & their families others maybe fifo mine workers etc. These being people with a lot of disposable income however there are other families out here struggling to put food on their kids plates every night and are forced to pay the same for power & gas as the wealthy miners which sucks because we are not even given a choice of provider so even doing a comparison is complete waste of time!! Poor pensioners just can't afford their gas & power bills at all anymore but is there anything at all that we can do about it??? Show details

Alinta Energy - the most dishonest, corrupt company I have ever dealt with

Just switched providers after being with Alinta Energy for number of years. They have always been tricky to deal with, lying just seems a normal business practice to them, I can see others have had the same experience. How they are allowed to operate in Australia shows the deficiencies in our regulatory bodies. Avoid them at all costs, they are the absolute worse, worse than Dodo in telecoms, and that's saying something. Show details

A Huge let down

The company set me up with the wrong info and I was charged huge rates. Previous company applied solar discounts and new company also applying discounts. Alinta is dishonest about their products and discounts being applied to the accounts. There team are hard to get in contact with and not helpful. When the government electricity rebate was supposed to be applied Alinta did not apply it to the account. I was with them for a month and will never join with them again. I will never recommend Alinta Energy. Show details

Missing payment - threatening to disconnect utilities

Have received multiple notifications from Alinta stating I have not paid the most recent bill, however this is not the case. The bill was paid a month ago, I have provided proof the money was taken out of my account by Alinta and have been trying to sort it out with customer service who have been absolutely useless and they are now threatening to disconnect our utilities until the payment is repaid, I am in no position to double pay and am absolutely astonished that this hasn’t been sorted, absolutely shocking company Show details

bad service and incorrect bills

Alinta has been sending incorrect bills since I joined, So every time reading was provided over the phone.
Finally I moved to different retailer but final bill was almost 7times over, due to estimated bill. Response from Alinta was sorry cant help, if you done pay the bill debt collector will come and collect. Show details

Atlinta energy - the worst company to ever exist

This company is by far the worst company you will ever have to deal with. Incompetent is an understatement. We have had issue after issue with them since we became a customer. I’ve now been waiting 27 days for a refund of a credit on our account which I’ve now been told they’ve refunded in 3 amounts and should have taken 5 business days. I feel sorry for any person who has to work for a company that is so poorly run. As someone who trains people in customer service I managed to finally speak to someone who had some degree of intelligence. Britney go and find a job with a company who knows what they are doing. Very Expensive rates

We started with Alinta a few years ago. We have a 17KW solar system and were getting 8c FIT. We are a family of 3 on an acerage block so running water supply pumps to the house and a pool pump. We have hot water and pool pump running only during daylight hours so essentially should run for free. We made sure our usage was minimum during 4pm to 9pm. Before the rate rises we were getting bills each month between $100 and $200 after the rate rise our bills were $200-$270 per month. Our solar inputs were far greater than the power we consumed yet we still paid huge bills. We have changed to GLobird now, first bill was a credit of $59. I would never recommend Alinta Energy to anyone. Show details

They are just unbelievable

I posted a review here, about getting a letter from Alinta, with totally incorrect information about our address and gas meter. I thought it was all sorted out, by telephoning them and correcting all their incorrect information about our address and meter number.

At the time, someone from Alinta contacted me here, and then wanted every single personal contact detail, and I sent them my address, so they could check it out. I never heard from them again.

Today, I receive the same threatening letter, from Alinta, that my gas is going to cut off. I've put in a complaint, and if this happens again I'll lodge a complaint with the Ombusdman.

I dont' think I need to say what I think of Alinta. Show details

There are better rates to be had elsewhere plus if you want to keep your money in Australia, you should know that Alinta has been owned by a Chinese billionaire since 2017 when the Morrison Government allowed its sale into foreign hands. Do your research before signing up! Show details

Don’t ever have credit on your account

Have been waiting for 2 weeks now for $456 credit on my account to be paid - it’s my money! Was told I would get it back in 5 business days which I duly waited. Just keep being told it’s ‘being processed’. In times when everyone including myself is struggling financially this is disgraceful. I have other bills I can’t pay because of this incompetency. Pathetic stuff from Alinta

Alinta used to be great. Had good rates and a decent feed in tariff. Then they sent out a very under-the-radar email saying they were hiking prices by A LOT. Didn't see it as I thought it was just a standard email (yep my fault, I take the blame een though it was super super obvious) And besides, surely they wouldn't put me straight under the most expensive plan on their website PLUS more, right?! WRONG. They charged me a obscene amount and didn't realise till i got a huge bill. Tried to ring up to get the bill reduced, and they refused. Asked to be put onto a better plan and still was just as bad with the rates and said they couldn't do any better. So, here we are. Avoid Alinta like the plague. Show details

Transferring of government credit

I have recently transferred my supplier from Alinta to another supplier. According to Alinta they will not be refunding this credit balance since it has been given by the government.
The assistance received was disgusting. My advice is just do your mandatory enquiry , then move straight on to your states Energy Ombudsman. On the flip side the Queensland Water and Electricity Ombudsman 5⭐️a satisfactory result in under a week. Kai no mock apology required. Show details

Everything I liked about Alinta is gone

I've been with Alinta since they started but I'm going to move on now. All of the benefits that kept me with them have been eroded. In the beginning the customer service was excellent, I received 20% off my bill when I paid on time and the bills were lower anyway than my previous service providers. None of that applies any more. The good times are gone. My latest bill was over $650 for a quarter (for just one person WITH solar panels). When I rang them to query why, the guy I spoke to was a rude, condescending automaton who seemed to think I didn't have two brain cells to rub together. See ya Alinta! This is a bitter divorce! Tone-Deaf

In Feb 2022, my house was affected by the floods. In April we were issues an estimated bill because the meter reader couldn't read our broken meter. Called Alinta and thought we had gotten it sorted and cancelled the account as we didn't have power to the house. They then began sending bills to the "property occupant" asking for over $500. I called again and explained. They still sent the letters.
3 months later they had essential energy come and cut the power (the "off grid power" the council had on every house to be able to clean them out). They then still continued to send letter after letter demanding over $1,000 for a period when the power was literally not connected.
They didn't stop until they were threatened with the ombudsman. Show details

Absolute money grab when you leave

Sure, even the best of relationships come to an end.
I had a pretty good deal with Alinta until their recent monumental price increase, so I decided to change. My final bill for a 2 month period was over $400 which is the highest bill I've ever received on a monthly average basis. You see, it's not an estimate, it's a money grab. Why? Because a fair and realistic estimate would reflect similar costs for the same period last year. This was way over the top and not in any way was it close to accurate. It just feels like a way of legally extracting money out of consumers that move on to better pastures. Show details

Over charge when you leave

Had been with Alinta for 5 years, was happy until rate rise .Decided to change and got a final meter read. This read was an estimate and was WAY over my usage.Rang them and was told as I am no longer a customer I can't submit a self read. I have photos of the meters ,but didn't care. Was told it would work out in the end with new bill.I am now paying way less than Alinta rates so how can that work out. My final bill was $124 with govt discounts and it should have been around $55.They made $70 extra out of me and that is just 1 person,how many more people are they going to rip off! Show details

Expensive increases

I have been with Allinta for 7+ years and thought their rates quite competitive. Now with the increase in charges this year their rates have gone through the roof. After installing solar panels, my rates have gone up 75% since last June 2023. I called them to confirm this and they blamed ENERGEX and would not offer a loyal customer anything new.
I am changing to Globird whose rates are over 25% cheaper and promptly answered all my email queries within an hour Show details

Poor training from customer service agents

Some agents are good but some have no clue with their own services. Not a good company to deal with. Long wait times everytime I call them. Poor training for their customer service team. Not everyone knows the procedures at work. Stay away! Show details
