Car insurance can’t live without it
Came up for renewal so I renewed without question. I have held insurance with Allianz for many years now I lodged a claim some years ago when my car was stolen it was resolved satisfactorily
Communications need improvement
I objected to the rate increase and asked for a review before looking at alternatives, no reply
I followed up on the email and again no reply
I followed up again and received the rate sheet again but no mention that the rate had been reviewed, i was about to commit to Youi and only then did i realized the rate had been reduced and i committed to Allianz
The policy is good value. I have not lodged a claim on this policy but have for another vehicle and the service was great. No hassles, quick and easy to do over the phone.
We have been with the company for about 20 years.
Turn Back, Do Not Take Up Insurance With Allianz
I rang to cancel my insurance only to be told that i was being slugged with a cancellation fee.
I asked where this is noted and the reply was on the PDF we email out. I asked what page, she did not know.
I found the Cancelling page ( #41 ) before she did, and it states;
If you or we cancel the policy we may deduct a pro rata proportion of the premium for the time of risk, reasonable administrative costs related to the acquisition and termination of the policy and any government taxes or duties we can not recover.
" May " I asked " so you may ...

Insurance premiums to an old age pension for 3 years is 10600 dollars
This is something my father is going through
He is old age and retired, on a centrelink pensions, upon his retirement, he bought a car at a dealership, 15k cash and a loan for 5k. The sales person pushed Allianz insurance in combination to the loan - he was entitled to get his own insurer and API or RAA would have been more appropriate but the sales person pushed it. My father also doesn't actually comprehend English language very well as in documentation.
The 5k for the loan was paid within 6mths - so no debt on vehicle
Now I will highlight...the key principles to where I came involved - upon receiving a renewal letter of 294 per month insurance premium - I did some digging - the year before that was 394 per month, the year before that was 244 per month and the year before that was 267 per month - in 3yrs he has paid approx. 10600 dollars - I don't know what was prior hand as allianz has not sent me these out the Insurance company used an excuse to me upon the phone, due to your fathers car being broken into within the northen terrority we increased the insurance premiums. In the year 2019 the total amount my father paid for a second hand vehicle in insurance was 25% of the entire years worth of centrelink pension. RIght now seeking lawyers and legal applications - old age pensioner - quite reasonable driver - a car is broken into and people steal stuff out of that car so the insurer then steals money of the victim while charging for the full excess fee on top - 25% of an old age pensioners centrelink income on car insurance
Pay by the month - can't beat it!
Whilst I have not had to make a claim for some years I have found my cover to be perfect for my needs. Direct debit by monthly installments makes it easy to budget and I don't need to remember to make the payment.
excellent customer service
was driving peacefully on Greensborough bypass road, that suddenly the front car stopped the car, made reverse and bumped my car!!then she escaped the scene!!. chased her and stopped her.
submit the claim online, but follow up with emails and fax them the scene and my explanation.investigation by their customer service went well and they found out that its her fault so they waived my extra.
Never dealt with more of a painful insurance company in my life, put a claim in up to 3 weeks ago and keep getting told that it’s in investigation but never hear anything back, I’m constantly put on hold for up to hours on end sometimes trying to find out what’s going on just to be told the same thing, most unprofessional people iv ever had to deal with would never recommend these guys to anyone.
Claim process time
I had an accident 3 weeks before, I informed Allianz representative on time. He told me that their investigation team went to the exact spot of incident and review it and they will let me know after 4 to 5 days. I was keep calling them after 2 weeks. I called them 4 to 5 times but way too long holding time 45/50 minutes. After 3 weeks finally I got a chance to talk to Tina and she stated me she didn't have any update for my claim. She is sending a letter to third party for their response. It looks like they haven't done anything for 3 weeks unt...il I call them. Now I have to wait 2 more weeks. If third party didn't response I have to wait 2 more weeks and don't know how long. Extremely poor customer service. I will ever not buy Allianz insurance again.
Terrible - 2.5 weeks and no word
Submitted claim online (easy process 1 star)
Got a call back 2 business days later asking if car was towed. It hadn't been so the Allianz rep told me they would arrange for tow truck. They didn't. 2 days later I called and arrange for my own tow to chosen repairer.
5 days went by and no word.
Called help centre to be told by an answering service hold times where between 2hour 45min and 3 hours 15 mins long.
No word for 3 more days.
Received a phone call from a gentleman named Chris who seemed very personable and knew his job (1 star) and he told me that they needed to get another quote from a different repairer (not my chosen) and he as arranging. ...Then received an email saying my chosen repairer had been changed. I didn't change it, it was changed by allianz. Then no word for another 4 days. I called the help line again, again with ridiculous wait times. For them to tell me that nothing has been started yet. The assessor hasn't approved the 2nd quote. He has until tomorrow to do so. 2.5 weeks and nothing has even stated. Not to mention the PDS states that if they move the vehicle to another party that isn't my chosen repairer they are to provide me with a hire car. I asked the help line about this and they said that they have to refer it to the technical team as the wording on this isn't clear.... so the PDS isn't eve worth the paper it is written on!!
Not even worth the 1 star
Car was stolen neatly 2 months ago and still going around in circles - each time you phone you wait at least 30min and then get through to a different person each time! They then spend 10 familiarizing themselves with your case and then do nothing - they keep asking their assessor for information that he gave them 5 weeks ago - they can’t even read their own forms!!! Their assessor and are 100% aligned in settlement but the admin idiots in the office have no clue. Don’t rely on emails only they don’t look at them until you phone!!
I don’t even want to give 1 star
Unfortunately not long after getting a new car I had to make a claim with Allianz. I was on hold for just over an hour, the person I spoke to was rude, didn’t appear to be listening, uninterested & unable to follow due to a communication gap. Because of this lodging the claim was long, he proceeded to tell me I would need to pay a total of $800 I asked why this was when my excess is set at $600 (yes This is correct and have looked at my paper work) He attempted to tell me however, he rushed very quickly and due to the communication barrier I wa...s not able to understand. I asked again, at this point he got frustrated with me and cut the call short. I called back to find out what this additional $200 is as this was never disclosed to me up front or in paper work, the wait time up to 2.5 hours I had the option to select call back.... I am still waiting for the call back
Will never buy car insurance with allianz again
Never receive the info pack since I purchased the policy, which they told me they'll send to me, even after calling them a few times to follow-up. They sent the T&C a year later when I wanted to cancel it. Very dodgy service. I'll never buy this again.
Easy online claims process for not a fault
Joined Allianz for price, but had a rear end, not a fault, last Wednesday night. Went home and lodged a claim online. Seemed to be a fully automated process, didn't have to talk to anyone, chose my repairer and had it dropped off for repair that Saturday. By the following Thursday it was ready for pickup. Again with no communications with Allianz other than the email saying claim approved. Compared to RACV (2 claims), they are miles ahead. Never going RACV again.
Allianz use damaged secondhand parts to repair your car
Keep well away from this company.
I was insured with Allianz and had some one back into my 5 year old VW polo with 20,000 kilometers.
I got all the detail from the third party and handed them to Allianz.
The car went in for a quote and I advised the repairer that I wanted new guard and door, blending the bonnet and rear door so there was no evidence of repair.
I should point out that I have in the past owned and operated two panel shops.
When we picked up the car noticed the fit of the panels was shocking and the repairer had tried to edge to e...
Caught me once but NEVER again
I took out Comprehensive Insurance with $5k cover for accessories and GAP insurance on my 4x4.
Car got stolen 7 weeks ago and still no settlement - their assessor uses Gumtree as a measure for the "market Value" of your accessories so your $ 1500 bulbar is only worth ~$100 a year later.
Then to make it worse they take the Accessories $$ (that I paid out of my own pocket) and use that to reduce this bill under the GAP insurance because the finance settlement figure is higher than their Gumtree Evaluation. So in summary I have not vehicle, I have to pay $ 1000 excess and I get $ 0.00 settlement
They ignore ALL emails and you wait 30-40 minutes to talk to an operator that cant help you anyhow.
I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN.
Stay away from this insurance company
This is the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. They will do everything to not pay ur legitimate claim. Over 5 hours of wait time every time u call. They don’t call u to update u on ur claim and u have to call them everytime . Their assessor are people who will try to Intimidate u and be rude to u . From their action they will tell ubas if u r lying . It’s just amazing how bad their customer service and all other departments are . Stay away from them even if u have to pay more to do so . I have 3 cars and have had experience with GGU and AaMi and these guys were top class and I never had an issue with them .
terrible they asked me 1100 dollars more then nrma,,,
way to expensive sorry they asked me 2400 for the same insurance i pay 1200 with nrma, sorry but again way to expensive and poor costumer service also , i stay with nrma,
Not Happy Jan
Maybe you should try employing more Staff! Keeping your Customers on Hold for over an Hour is Disgusting. Making excuses as to why, is adding to the disrespect.
I will take my Insurance elsewhere, treat Me like an insignificant number and I'll leave you in an instant where i will be treated with Respect and common courtesy
Cheap BUT Nasty
Peace of mind until you need to claim, then 5 - 7 hour wait time to talk to someone about my claim. Their automated system called me back in the middle of the night only to put me on hold for 20 minutes until someone from overseas who had no access to the claims system and could tell me nothing got on the phone.
A week later after they towed my car I still have no idea what is going on, every time I have spoken to someone I get told something different
So disorganised I have had a smash repairer and O'Brien glass calling me directly to find out why my car wasn't at appointments to be assessed when Allianz was making arrangements
No one can tell me what is going on
