Most painful international move ever
House move from Hong Kong to Sydney. Full container load so didn't need to combine with another client but AP delayed our shipment in Hong Kong for 6 weeks without notifying us. Our container was then shipped to Brisbane instead of Sydney - again without notifying us. Long inspection time & custom clearance due to Covid. AP asked for extra payment to deliver the last items - we agreed to pay 50% of their extra undisclosed charge (this was blamed on the HK office) to have the rest of our belongings delivered.
After 8 months we finally rece...
Very Poor Service
Moved interstate. Sydney to Perth. 1.5 containers. Half of our stuff arrived the 2nd half arrived 12days later. The essentials box arrived with the 2nd load. We could not assemble any furniture without the nuts & bolts in the essentials box. During this period we had to sleep on the floor. Worse still our car that was promised to arrive on the 6th Jan 21, only arrived in the middle of January. This entire service was poor even though we paid extra for this period. We did not get our good on time.
Disappointed- customer service was ok but poor logistics and damage to our property - do not use them
2bedroom apartment moving to a small 2bedroom terrace - 10min apart.
The team were polite and professional- but the logistics were not great - an error was made on the size of the truck needed for the job, resulting in us going back and forth in the rain to recover more possessions (clothes) & furniture.
More importantly, the move resulted in damage to the floors in our old apartment, and to our brand new floors in our terrace. The latter in several locations.
Accidents happen, but we had more than one scratch to both properties and I was to...ld to get a quote (sorry several) to repair the damage 3 days before Christmas, whilst going back and forth to move furniture that should have been on the original delivery. Not happy - when you screw up and pay this sort of money - you expect a quick resolution and compensation to fix the damage. I should not have to shop around and get quotes for true repairs.
Dishonest and a lack of trust.
Moving a 4 bedroom townhouse from Syndey to the UK. The communications were poor before the uplift. However, the packing went well which included a completed and signed inventory. Then it all fell apart when we took delivery of our items. Many items were not delivered, including a large tool chest, glass table top, large ladder, motorcycle parts etc. The inventory was altered to show 'tablet error' or 'duplicate' against the missing items. Allied Pickfords was supposed to be investigating 'to improve their services', but they have simply washed...their hands on the matter unwilling to answer simple questions and choose to skirt around the subject. Having looked at other website reviews, there now appears to be a theft culture within the company, which is a real shame, as these reviews were not there when we reviewed prior to our move. It seems someone has been employed is simply stealing items. Allied Pickford management need to be aware of this a take appropriate action and not simply wash their hands on the issue. They should be honest and offer an appropriate level of compensation. 14 months on and the insurance claim for the damaged furniture is still ongoing. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.
Avoid at all costs!
They don't even deserve one star
They are so bad at their jobs, it makes me angry they are somehow the main shipping coming in Aus. I've had the unfortunate experience of using them four times.
They do not do their basic jobs. They're the worst communicators. Not only do they not provide updates they don't reply to emails. They lose forms you've already sent and filled in. They ignore your shipping until you contact them asking what's going on.
We also used their packing service and they wrapped one bottle of nail varnish into a ft worth of wra...
Poor customer service and misleading pricing
Regrettably I did not read the customer reviews on the Sydney branch and assumed all Allied Pickford branches adhere to the same level of customer service which has not been my experience. Now that I have read customer reviews I can see that I have also received poor customer service from the Sydney branch which is unfortunate as I chose to be a return customer due to my previous experience with the Tasmanian Allied Pickford branch.
Whilst the removal of my items was a good experience with friendly and efficient crew, dealing with the sales te...am has been less than satisfactory. In order to compare quotes I requested a full quote to move my items from Sydney, store for 6 months and then deliver to my new address in Tasmania. The invoice I received did not state the surcharge applied for moving over the Christmas period, my request to be quoted for 6 months storage was not added due to ‘standard’ company process that I was later informed of as supposedly ‘storage is not added to an invoice because they are not sure how long the items would be in storage’ however I specifically requested the sales representative to be quoted for 6 months which was disregarded. Insurance is sold by Allied Pickford and payment taken by Allied Pickford however this fee is also not added to the quote/ invoice received so trying to compare this Removalist service to other services from a price comparison is not a simple task. Needless to say the quote and what I have been charged is significantly different and did not include what I wanted which was not clearly explained before +$3,500 was debited from my credit card. Today when requesting for my items to be moved to my new address, I have now received an invoice for an additional +$1,000 which was completely unexpected as I thought I have prepaid in advance whilst I thought I may need to pay little bit extra depending on the location of my new address, I was shocked at a +S1,000 invoice, please note I moved home contents for studio apartment. When I enquired with the sales representative why I was not charged for the services I requested, I was curtly told that Allied Pickford quotes/ invoices are transparent and she made no enquiry regarding where a misunderstanding may have occurred. After my experience ‘transparent‘ is not a word I would use to describe the quote/ invoice provided by Allied Pickford. This service is too expensive to tolerate poor customer service and poor invoicing when customers are trying to compare quotes at the beginning of their move so to avoid unexpected charges. So disappointing when the moving crew and the Tasmanian Allied Pickford branch have been so fantastic to deal with during my previous move and this move. I would not be recommending using the Sydney branch of this service based on my experience which looks to supported by other customer reviews I have read.
Took over 3 months from Sydney to NZ, zero communication when I repeatedly contacted them.
Worst decision using this shipping company. Took over 3 months to get my cartons delivered. They picked up early December from Sydney and then it sat in Sydney for months. I didn't get delivery in NZ until mid March. Should have built my own raft and floated it across myself.
They advertise on their website, 8-10 weeks for AUS to NZ, that's complete lies. In fact, on the phone the sales person told me its more like 4-6 weeks for delivery.
I started university here end of Feb and ended up having to buy a new computer, clothes, study gear etc...... because my entire life was sitting in their depot. It didn't leave Sydney until mid February. I had 12 cartons from Sydney to NZ. The only communication I had with this company was when they wanted payment. As Soon as they were paid, communication stopped. I had to chase everything from the pick up date to paperwork and customs forms. The 'move coordinator' never got in touch, never responded to emails, it was not until I rang the NZ branch and had a whinge did they put me through to Aus to speak directly with him. He had no answers and didn't care. Told me 'it should be delivered in the next two weeks'. There are other movers who are better and give realistic time frames, I've used other companies before.
Arrogant inflexible and not interested in working with our move
I am not able to comment on Allied Pickfords actual moving services as I didn’t get past the quote stage. We have a 4 bedroom house with a lot of antiques and heavy furniture. It is never going to be an easy move but the man who quoted the job just didn’t want to listen to me or consider what I thought the inherent difficulties of this move would be ie the need for smaller trucks(steep driveway) and to mobilise enough men to move all the furniture and boxes in one 12 hour day not the 4 days he insisted on etc. When I explained that Allied Pi...ckford quote wasn’t feasible as we had moved all the same existing furniture 4 years I was told that maybe I needed to find a different mover although he declared that they would would not do as good a job! I told him that at the very least the company I chose would be flexible and willing to work with us. I consider I made a lucky escape.
This is the first time I've left a review for a service which is an indication of how bad I found this experience. I chose Allied Pickfords because I thought they were a reputable company but I was mistaken. Interaction with office staff from the Darwin end was confusing and unfriendly. Upon arrival of my goods in Sydney I discovered that some large items had simply been thrown into the truck with absolutely no packaging resulting in them being damaged or completely destroyed. The Sydney unpacking staff were rude and unprofessional, not even in...troducing themselves, just shoving a checklist in my hand. After unloading a few boxes one of them refused to do any work because it was too hot meaning it took twice as long. They were careless when dumping the boxes in my room resulting in further damage of crockery. I completed the feedback survey with all this information and heard nothing back. The insurance application process is made extremely difficult and requires extensive written evidence that irreparable items cannot be repaired (who will do this for a lamp, for example?!) so I don't have much hope of any compensation. I did this exact move in reverse from Sydney to Darwin with a different company with absolutely no issues or damages so I know that this is not normal. Awful experience when moving is already so stressful and I don't want others to go through the same thing.
Do not use! No accountability, customer service or care (particularly the Sydney office).
Used Allied Pickfords to move from Sydney to country Victoria. Cost $8000+ and was to take 3 days to arrive at our new home. It ended up taking 8 days with an extra $1000+ out of pocket. You think you have the protection and care of a multinational company that puts customers first, the reality is you get a small office that is all about the profit before customer.
1. Our container arrived 5 days late due to a train derailment (unfortunately but understandable)
2. Consequently, we were left in a completely empty house with an 8 month old baby...
- NSW, Coffs Harbour
Poor service and support,
Do not choose Allied Pickfords to move to anywhere. We moved from the UK to Coffs Harbour. Our goods arrived on the 4/11/19 at the Port of Brisbane. That’s when all the trouble started. Pickfords gave us out of date customs forms. The paperwork was rejected and they failed to inform us straight away. This caused massive delays for us. We did not receive our goods until the 27/12/19. We struggled to get any response or support from our Pickfords rep at the Sydney office. He never responded to emails until days later, and barely answered his phon...e. Due to his lack of support We were placed in the care of his manager. He was no better, he lied to us on more than one occasion about our delivery dates . Once our goods arrived at the Coffs depot we were told the rep/ manager that we could collect our own items if we wanted instead of waiting. We agreed to this as we wanted our items. Even though we payed for a delivery and unpacking service. In the middle of the planning process we received a call to tell us that as it was Xmas and the depot was unmanned. So again we had to wait. I would not use Allied Pickfords again, I recommend that any new potential customers go elsewhere...
Do Not Use Them - Property Damage, Non-Responsive Customer Service
Moved from a large 3 bedroom apartment in Sydney to N Queensland on 16 Dec 2019
Damage to front door of the property as well as to several pieces of furniture, toaster was dented due to not being packed properly. There was more paper surrounding our plastic ware.
They sent just 1 packer for a big job and never responded to me when I expressed my concerns. Ended up having multiple others come and go during the day, which lead to inconsistency with the packing, poor packing, boxes not marked at all and many just marked as "misc".

The careful...thieves. Items stolen, 6 months delay, bad communication
Where do I start? I regretted my decision of picking Allied Pickfords as my removalist from Sydney to Vienna immensely.
Everything was fine until I had paid the amount due (around AUD 4,200 plus $2000 for insurance). After that, communication became very slow to say the least. I had to call them up several times just to get any information on my shipments status. The shipment left Sydney later than I was promised previously, at this point I didn't mind too much, I just informed them that I understood it was delayed, but I would appreciate to k...
Very bad service
Around 6 months back, we moved from Melbourne to Tamworth. We used Allied Pickfords' service for moving our furniture. We were supposed to get them in two weeks but it got extented to 3 weeks. When we got our stuff, we noticed the following things:
1. One leg of our coffee table was broken
2. Two big plastic boxes where broken
3. Big scratches on the side of oven and fridge
4. Broken shoerack
5. Ripped sofa cover in one side
We are never gonna take their service again.
- NSW, Newcastle
Disgusting Service...Logistics, they don't know the meaning.
My container left Toronto, Canada on April 5.
It was Discharged from Customs in Sydney Australia May 27th.
I was contacted on May 30th that it was discharged, and to pay the discharge fee, which I did the same day.
I called them to ask when it would be delivered.
The agent said it had to be sent to a local team in Newcastle, and they would get in touch.
No word from them.
My Canadian-side team chased it up, and i have heard that it will be the end of next week, 15 days after being discharged!
Logistics companies are supposed to be the most organised lot!
Questions & Answers
My daughter is moving from Sydney to Tasmania her furniture will only fill half a container.
I believe she has to wait for the container to be filled before it is shipped.
With your experience on average how long will she have to wait for her container to be shipped to Tasmania I realise that you can not give me a definite time period I'm after an average.
cheers Bob Lubout
