We relocated from a 4 bedroom home in Auckland back to Adelaide. The move commenced in November 2020 and after 6.5 months in their opinion it is now completed. In the process we have lost a carton of clothes and they have destroyed a BBQ that was in a near new condition. After under quoting for our move from Auckland in November last year, once we had arrived in Australia we were told they underestimated the volume of our goods; we were told to pay an increased fee or they couldn't guarantee a quick transfer of our goods. We promptly paid ...and here we are 6.5 months later as described above. Their National Operations Manager doesn't want to know, in fact when I emailed him today he mistakenly copied me in to an email to his team saying "If he contacts anyone again, refer him to me". I was simply seeking compensation for the lost and damaged goods. I wasn't rude in anyway. In short this business treats its customers with contempt. This is the 2nd time I have used them for an international move; my mistake for giving them a second chance. Avoid!!!
Don't take out insurance with Allied Pickford
3 bedroom house moving to UK. The furniture arrived late, but that was the least of my problems. I have had a bad experience from start to end, with unclear explanations as to risks etc and neither end wishing to take responsibility. It is probably all in the small print, but the salesmen are keen and helpful to start with and get less so as your case is passed on down the line. But the most serious is the failure to accept insurance claims (one in particular) for damage. By the time it comes to this stage, there is clearly nothing to be gaine...d by being helpful. The packers have clearly broken the leg off an antique corner table, but did not mention it to me at the time; and now AP are claiming it was pre-existing damage. I have found their attempts to get me to accept their decision to be intimidatory, setting deadlines for accepting their assessment on another piece of damage. Their is no record of a broken leg on the signed inventory, under the appropriate column. It was certainly not damaged prior to packing. Their promotional material suggests prompt settlement, but my understanding (and now experience) is that this is far from the case. Having read other independent reviews where AP have a satisfaction rating of 76% on the lowest score, I notice this is not uncommon. As I mentioned this is not the only part of my bad experience, on which I can comment in a separate review; but it leaves a particularly sour taste towards the company. The transportation insurance is outlandishly expensive anyway (20-30% of total transportation cost) and the failure to settle up on a much valued gift from my grandmother is causing great stress. I will be amazed if this review is published.
