Most painful international move ever
House move from Hong Kong to Sydney. Full container load so didn't need to combine with another client but AP delayed our shipment in Hong Kong for 6 weeks without notifying us. Our container was then shipped to Brisbane instead of Sydney - again without notifying us. Long inspection time & custom clearance due to Covid. AP asked for extra payment to deliver the last items - we agreed to pay 50% of their extra undisclosed charge (this was blamed on the HK office) to have the rest of our belongings delivered.
After 8 months we finally rece...

The careful movers; not even close
Do not use. Moved cairns to the Sunshine Coast. Was not the cheapest quote, but I wanted the backing of a big company as I needed my move to go smoothly. You are required to pay the full cost up front before uplift and I did so without fuss. My belongings were collected on time and the delivery guys on the Coast were wonderful, but that’s the only good things I can say.
Moving day was extremely wet, which is out of the control of the company, however they took no care to dry the boxes and belongings after walking them through the rain, and the...
Absolutely disorganised. Very poor service, zero customer service.
Apart for the "doers", who seemed to be nice, all the managers and customer care people were absolutely useless. Even worse, they did not deliver what was expected (for example: utilities connection disconnection, valt unpack) and we paid for!
To be avoided like the plague.
Estimated dates mean nothing - avoid
I was quoted 10-12 weeks for a small home move from Melbourne to UK. The team that collected the goods were great but communication has been extremely limited from my contact at allied. It will now be 8.5 weeks before my shipment even leaves Melbourne. Who knows what further delays are ahead. I have no confidence in this company. I would not recommend.
Is there an option for 0 stars?
We relocated from a 4 bedroom home in Auckland back to Adelaide. The move commenced in November 2020 and after 6.5 months in their opinion it is now completed. In the process we have lost a carton of clothes and they have destroyed a BBQ that was in a near new condition. After under quoting for our move from Auckland in November last year, once we had arrived in Australia we were told they underestimated the volume of our goods; we were told to pay an increased fee or they couldn't guarantee a quick transfer of our goods. We promptly paid ...and here we are 6.5 months later as described above. Their National Operations Manager doesn't want to know, in fact when I emailed him today he mistakenly copied me in to an email to his team saying "If he contacts anyone again, refer him to me". I was simply seeking compensation for the lost and damaged goods. I wasn't rude in anyway. In short this business treats its customers with contempt. This is the 2nd time I have used them for an international move; my mistake for giving them a second chance. Avoid!!!
Allied moved us interstate and did a good job overall.
We decided to use them when we moved from one suburb to another.
I came home during the uplift to find all of the walls in the hallway and stairwell damaged, the house was 4 months old and perfect before this. I had to paint the walls again so I could hand it back in the condition it was given to me.
All I got was blank stares when I brought up the issues and denial that there was anything wrong with the walls.
I also received a lot of passive aggressive behaviour and sarcasm across the ...
Worst experience we have ever had as customers.
We moved from Queensland to WA.
Initially great service, easily contactable, efficient, lovely staff to pack & move.
When it came to the delivery, things couldn’t be more opposite.
The agreed day of delivery was wrong, they turned up when we were away on holiday (after waiting 8 weeks for delivery because of Covid)
After contacting them 26 times over 3 days, we did not have one answered phone call, when we called the number on the website it would hang up.(apparently something they are working on because it is new ???) we were able to conta...

Poor customer service & communication, even worse packing & shipping
Moved a few items from Brisbane to Auckland. My things were picked up on 10th November 2020, and now FOUR MONTHS later they have finally been delivered. The whole process from start to finish has been painful.
1) Items not packed properly and likely to be damaged.
2) Dealing with multiple rude and unprofessional people.
3) Poor communication and punctuality
First is the carelessness with which they pack items. As one example: My Apple MacBook Pro laptop was not wrapped in bubble wrap or even butcher's paper - it was just stuffed down...the side of a box with nothing to protect it from shocks or from dust/dirt entering the ports. After four months in that box being passed around there is likely to be some damage. Secondly, I've had to deal with 3 different people throughout the process (the initial salesperson and then two different move managers at the origin/destination). Given that you never have a single point of contact, there's no real accountability for your overall experience. You just get passed from person to person who deals with their part and nothing else. The worst person was the first move manager - a rude lady named [Name Removed] who was based in the Philippines. She failed to communicate properly and she repeatedly sent incorrect documentation. I was almost overcharged because of her lack of attention to detail. Talking to her on the phone was painful because of her attitude. She once threatened to cancel the move because I hadn't emailed her a proof of payment.
No communication, don't answer phone and they don't get back to you
I really wonder if anyone in this company is interested in actually doing any work. They never answer their phones (it automatically goes to voicemail), and they say leave your name and number and they'll get back to you. No. They don't. I've called them twice since last Tuesday (its now Monday) and they haven't got back to me yet.
Emails are the same story, they never respond to emails.
If they don't even respond to customers trying to book a move, I can only imagine how hard it will be to deal with them once they have your furniture. Looks like I dodged a bullet here.

Poor communication and extensive delays
Allied Pickfords have managed shipping of our household items from the USA to Australia. Our shipment was removed from our home in the USA in early September, 2020, and we were advised it would arrive in Australia in December. We understand there are some delays in international shipping at the moment which are out of Allied's control, however the communication we have received regarding our items has been terrible.
We have received one email documenting our reference number and ETA, we have responded to the email multiple times and called th...e Company up to five times now for updates (early February now). Each time we are advised that someone from Allied will contact us, however we are yet to be contacted once outside of the initial email. We have only received updates now that we have started calling weekly-fortnightly. We are expecting a baby any day now, and are mindful that Allied will charge storage rates shortly after customs clearance if delivery isn't arranged shortly thereafter. The poor communication and total lack of customer service at an already uncertain time is extremely frustrating. Note the shipment was organised and paid for by our employer.
Use another company, as customer service is not in Allied's Vocab.
I have been trying to move 2 x cases from Hong Kong to Surfers Paradise, and the Allied Team in Hw were amazing, the local Brisbane Team are a disaster for trying to obtain information on why the are continually delayed, and when they are likely to be delivered. They are either:
- Never available
- Unable to give a delivery date
- Too busy on the phones to take a call, or call back
- Don't know who there supervisor or MD is to escalate concerns.
- The Richlands Operations Manager doesn't even have the courtesy to offer to call back
Very Poor Service
Moved interstate. Sydney to Perth. 1.5 containers. Half of our stuff arrived the 2nd half arrived 12days later. The essentials box arrived with the 2nd load. We could not assemble any furniture without the nuts & bolts in the essentials box. During this period we had to sleep on the floor. Worse still our car that was promised to arrive on the 6th Jan 21, only arrived in the middle of January. This entire service was poor even though we paid extra for this period. We did not get our good on time.
- QLD, Mackay
Run from this guys... If you don't, put insurance or you will regret.
I moved everything in my 4 bedroom apartment from Mackay to Perth. They were suppose to collect my car at a certain day but they delayed 1 week.
However, the big problem is that I didn't buy the insurance.
So many damaged things. The washing machine, I will have to buy a new one.
Boots, hats all smashed. Doll house broken.
They packed shoes with clean clothes without protection.
I couldn't set the bed because most of the screw wasn't there and we had to buy.
Anyways, very poor care of our things.
Don't take out insurance with Allied Pickford
3 bedroom house moving to UK. The furniture arrived late, but that was the least of my problems. I have had a bad experience from start to end, with unclear explanations as to risks etc and neither end wishing to take responsibility. It is probably all in the small print, but the salesmen are keen and helpful to start with and get less so as your case is passed on down the line. But the most serious is the failure to accept insurance claims (one in particular) for damage. By the time it comes to this stage, there is clearly nothing to be gaine...d by being helpful. The packers have clearly broken the leg off an antique corner table, but did not mention it to me at the time; and now AP are claiming it was pre-existing damage. I have found their attempts to get me to accept their decision to be intimidatory, setting deadlines for accepting their assessment on another piece of damage. Their is no record of a broken leg on the signed inventory, under the appropriate column. It was certainly not damaged prior to packing. Their promotional material suggests prompt settlement, but my understanding (and now experience) is that this is far from the case. Having read other independent reviews where AP have a satisfaction rating of 76% on the lowest score, I notice this is not uncommon. As I mentioned this is not the only part of my bad experience, on which I can comment in a separate review; but it leaves a particularly sour taste towards the company. The transportation insurance is outlandishly expensive anyway (20-30% of total transportation cost) and the failure to settle up on a much valued gift from my grandmother is causing great stress. I will be amazed if this review is published.
Avoid at all costs. While the people who did our packing and delivery were very polite they are let down by flawed systems and an organization lacking in integrity.
After our goods left our home and we had left NZ we received an email stating that it wouldn't all fit in the container so we needed to urgently pay $3k for overflow, I refused as a contract is a contract; only when threatened with consumer affairs did they reduce to $1000 which I paid as ransom effectively. Despite us paying this back in November 2020 those goods still haven't ...left NZ and won't be in Adelaide until mid-Feb. It's quite convenient that this overflow charge happened after we refused their insurance. We did a check quote with 2 insurance companies after we were quoted more than $8500 to insure our household goods and car for transit. We got cover with the reputable Vero for $1900!!!! So no doubt having missed out on this attempted profit grab, they attempted the overflow trick! To their credit the car arrived without damage. The bulk of our house hold goods arrived 2 days ago. Further chaos has ensued... the inventories they made bear no relationship to reality and so far we are missing a sound system Amp and XBOX that my kids were looking forward to playing. Why bother creating inventories if they don't reflect what's in the boxes?? In short, they have turned a straight forward move into a stressful one and I strongly recommend not using them. Hopeless at best, potentially dishonest and certainly lacking integrity!!

My daughter is moving from Sydney to Tasmania her furniture will only fill half a container.
I believe she has to wait for the container to be filled before it is shipped.
With your experience on average how long will she have to wait for her container to be shipped to Tasmania I realise that you can not give me a definite time period I'm after an average.
cheers Bob Lubout
