dont ever use amaysim /AGL subscription energy plan - its a scam
I have been using amaysim energy (now AGL energy) from last 8 months , i started using monthly subscription energy plan .
After a few months ,i had almost 500 dollars worth rolled over electricity and now i have decided to move to another electricity provider .
Amaysim energy is not willing to transfer the money of rolled over credit for which i have already paid .No T&C were read out to me related to this when i joined.
So my Advice , never join any amaysim /AGL subscription energy plan no matter how good it sounds .

This company is a mess!
Because they failed to move my connection from one property to another i was disconnected from power by surprise. They told me that they will handle it, they obviously didn't not. Don't trust anything they say!

This is an empty shell of a company !
I switched off of them after just 1 month !
They sent me a bill that was very confusing, when tried to call\email\chat with them, there was no one to answer !
It is an empty shell of a company, there is no one there and the automated phone system puts you on hold then cuts call after a few minutes.
To solve my case, I raised the matter with the Victoria state authorities then someone from this Garbage company called.
Do not get fooled by cheap rates, this company even does not come up in state's list of Energy companies suggestions. My take is.... the state knows this is a trash biz.

SCAM! DON'T DO IT - literally any other energy provider will be better than this
This is so frustrating.
So I decided to move to amaysim after using NSW energy provider tool. They suggested amaysim to be the cheapest based on my usual energy consumption. I went for their $80/month plan as that seemed reasonable, even though it wasn't that much cheaper compared to my previous energy provider Red Energy. In hindsight, I should've just stayed with them.
Long story short, the period between May-Aug 2019 I paid ~ AUD 230. This year after I switched to amaysim, they've charged 3 monthly subscriptions of AUD 80 each month, and n...ow just in the last 36 hours they've added 7 (SEVEN) AUD 20 topups. If you're following the math that's AUD 380!!! I've contacted them about it and the only thing they did was to condescendingly send me an explanation of where those charges where coming from. But please, can someone explain how I (single guy in a tiny studio) can spend 385 kW in 36 hours??? This is crazy. Do yourself a favour and stay away from this company, they will literally steal your money. This is a SCAM.
Have never had a worse experience with a service. Very unhelpful
You will spend more time on the phone trying to fix problems that amaysim have caused. Very disrespectful staff that I found unhelpful.
One of my situations they over charged my account, I had to ring up and get the money refunded then made the same mistake a week later. Spent hours on the phone which they were ver disrespectful and not willing to help you out at all. If your looking to save some money and make the change to amaysim I highly advise against it.
Overcharged and difficult customer service
We have had the prepaid energy plan for around 1.5 months. We went with the plan that was suggested for us for 80 a month as we hadn’t lived in the property before so we had no basis of an estimation. We didn’t receive any notifications and thought everything was fine. Then saw the credit card bill. On top of the monthly prepaid amount we have been getting charged between $20-100 DAILY because our consumption is apparently exceeding our usage! We have tried to use the online chat and called them 3 times However each time the calls are cut off a...s they are working from home and their internet is bad. When we finally were able to speak to them they stated that we had used 1600kw in a 2 bedroom apartment for a month, maintained that the meter reading was correct and they would call the distributor but were not willing to refund the money. I requested a manager call me and I have not yet received a call back. Stay away, it’s not worth the financial burden and stress.
Contact details given (or sold) to overseas call centres
Be warned...if you give your contact details to Amaysim Energy you risk the following.......
I applied to have Amaysim Energy supply a commercial property I am renting with electricity. Prior to my contacting Amaysim Energy I had never received a cold call from overseas on my mobile phone. Within 3 weeks of that call I began receiving strange calls via seemingly legitimate Australian land based numbers originating out of NSW & Victoria from Indian call centres....and they have not stopped since. All of these calls ask me about solar rebates, so...
Beware of the disconnection fee!
I was just hit with a disconnection electricity fee $171.89 that was never mentioned when I signed up. And since it is close to my average quarterly bill I would've expected it to be given more attention from the very friendly person who signed me up. It feels wrong and probably is wrong.
They said it is a pass on charged by the distributor (Ausgrid) - but OriginEnergy and AGL list on their websites that the Ausgrid disconnection fee is $12.24. Beware of the hidden charge!
I changed over to Amaysim about 9 months ago after our previous supplier reduced the feed-in tariff for our solar. Overall we are happy with their service although initially their billing process was somewhat confusing, as they charge a monthly "fee" which is later deducted from the bill. My major reason for changing was their very competitive feed-in tariff and although their usage charges are on the high end, overall their costs were lower given their higher feed-in tariff.
After a few problems initially (eg. incorrect name and billing deta...ils), I have been more than happy with them. Have experienced no billing problems and when I requested a refund, it was paid within 5 business days. We've also received free mobile for the life of our contract, so generally very pleased. May it continue!
I am ok with their mobile service and was unhappy with my energy provider so I took up amaysim's energy offer about 2 years ago. Initially it seemed ok except for the confusing monthly bills. Then I noticed the bill amounts seemed increasing even when I really cut down on energy usage. So I looked around and decided to switch to another company with cheaper rates. Amaysim called me up and offered me their new electricity plan which charges fixed amount of $80/month and assured me I would be better off. I made a big mistake of believing them and...gave them my credit card number which I thought it was to set up direct debit. The next day, I discovered that they immediately charged me $80! As there is a cooling period, I told them I did not want to go ahead with this and was told I would get a refund. After 3 weeks, no refund whatsoever. I emailed them 2 days ago and no response at all. This is the worst company ever.

I'd been burnt before as an Amaysim mobile customer, but the energy compare website showed they were MUCH cheaper than the next cheapest provider, so I signed up. The good rates only lasted 6 months though and then they put the rates up 38% with only an email as notification, no snail mail letter. Even though I changed providers immediately, because they provided notice of the increase only a few days before the next bill, I was stuck with them for nearly another month on their high rates before the new provider took over.
To top it off they o...

Never again! Expensive, harassing phone calls on exit
I was with Amaysim Energy for gas for a few years and I'm so close to being rid of the company, I can't wait. The rates are just so expensive and the bills are confusing to read.
I moved house, decided to switch. Final bill comes in and I'm getting four calls a day from three different numbers. I've answered the call, advised that the direct debit can be taken on the date stated on the bill (23rd March) and the calls keep coming. The last person I spoke with said that a note would be put on the account not to call...
It is harassment and shouldn't be legal.

If it was possible to leave a no star, or negative star review, I would. We were customers of Amaysim Energy and Gas for about 2 years which was 2 years too many. Amaysim's service was uncomparably disappointing throughout our time we were using the gas and electricity service. The customer service was appalling and rife with errors which we had to constantly follow up, ask for clarification and then find out an error had been made which needed to be fixed. There was absolutely no care at all taken with our account. Amaysim Energy completely broke our trust and left us stressed and having to question every single invoice that came in. We were overcharged constantly which had to be corrected again and again.

Don't, just Don't
I unfortunately changed by power to this deplorable company a few years ago, Bad bad choice.... Dont do it. !!!!
at the beginning it was good, I didn't realise they had put an extra 29% on their billing.. well you can't really , can you??
The billing is done so deceptively and slyly,
I got 2 bills for "installments " for about $60 each , I pay fortnightly onto account as I am a single Mum trying to survive on Centrelink, I'd paid $350 , then got a bill today saying I still owe ANOTHER $650 .., are you serious? There is only my son and I, we s...
It is insane,,, A big fat no.
I was with them from the past 2 years, their bill was expensive(almost $350 each months for two full time working couple), they raise cost without any reasons. WE CHANGED AFTER 2 YEARS. I am saying it because I don't want anyone to fall in their trap. We are with dodo now and we use the same energy and it cost us $68per month).
The whole billing approach makes it exceedingly difficult to understand and therefor difficult to validate. I have given up with them and moved my energy (and my phones) to alternate suppliers. now I need to validate all invoices/Payments (from Direct Debit) as I have no trust in them. I would advise everyone to find a more transparent supplier
Expensive for no reason and misleading
I have been billed for $740 for 3 months and I only live by my self. I am at work for half of the day. Why does pay on time discount get applied to the next bill when you are actually paying bill in time. First 2 months you get bill for $130 and last bill will be a blast. Switching to a different provider soon.
So dishonest and a straight up scam.
We have gas and electricity through these scam artists. Gas bill went from $300 for two months to $1550 for two months one bill to the next with no email informing of any change in rate. When we called to figure out what happened they were very rude and had no explanation as to how our usage increased 5fold. We're now scrambling to find an alternate and are worried about disconnection fees. The EWOV Ombudsman has been very helpful thus far; I highly recommend getting some legal support here. We have also learned that Click Energy is under the same umbrella so beware of the same scam.
Questions & Answers
Does Amaysim apply the discount to Usage & Supply rates (after concessions) as stated (i.e. $100 U&S = $40 discount), or do they apply the discount to the owing balance (i.e. if in credit $0 discount, or if $10 owing after installments then $4 discount)?
They apply discount on the owing balance. The discount is applied on your next month bill. Remember, you get discount for instalments as well (ie, 1st month instalment 130, 2nd month 130-130*0.4=78 and so on. Third month actual bill amount-130-130. On this amount you will get 40% discount next month.
Has anyone had luck getting any money back from Amaysim ripping them off?
No. AMAYSIM are scam artist, that rip you off! What they promise you...and what they deliver are 2x different things !
We should start a class action against this company as their marketing selling tactic and activities SOES NOT represent what they actually deliver!!
This behaviour is NOT ONLY uncontionable & unethically, its misrepresenting evryone and the public should be MADE AWARE to keep clear of Amaysim, FALSE ASVERTISING!
