Not good quality
I got this for my daughter. First off, it worked in a small bassinet (not the most stable) and then when I transfered it to a stable cot it didn't work. I was told they are sensitive and as such it shouldn't have worked in the bassinet and not the cot. They wouldn't help but just said perhaps that room gets a draft (it didn't). Plus when we purchased it I was told it would work with an aircon and fan but that was a lie by the salesperson as the Angelcare people said that was incorrect (we are in QLD so not happy about that!).
So we used it ...for our first child. When we tried to use it for our second one of the powercords stopped working - so not great quality. Wouldn't recommend. Perceived security Too many flaws and doesn't work as directed to
Fantastic for peace of mind
I bought the Angelcare sound and movement monitor, mainly for the movement detection after it was recommended by a friend. I find it is fantastic and gives myself and my husband great peace of mind. For the first 2 weeks of my son's life, we didn't have the monitor set up and found that we were constantly going into bubs room to check he was breathing. Although I am still acutely aware of the risk factors for SIDS, this monitor allows me to rest knowing if bubs stops breathing, we will be woken within 20 seconds so we can act fast. I recommend ...testing it occasionally so you know the movement sensor is still positioned right by lifting bubs out of the cot while it is still on. The unit is nice and compact and easy to operate, the screen is nice and clear and easy to read and the swinging pendulum is a great feature as it allows you to check to make sure it is still working. The parent unit has good battery life off the charger also. As I have a small house, I don't really require the sound monitor because I can hear bubs in the next room, however I did test it and I do find the hum or buzz described in other reviews to be a little annoying. As long as the sound is turned right down low though, there is no issue with this. Overall this is a fantastic product and I would recommend any parent purchase it so you can rest easily at night. Peace of mind, easy to use, alarm feature is quite loud so you couldn't sleep through it Buzzing sound in speakers when sound monitor volume is turned up, screen on parent unit is quite bright at night
Does the job, but could be better
Bought this model based on reviews I read here and have been using it now for around 8 months.
While it does the job and is comparatively cheap for a monitor set with pressure sensors for the bed, it is certainly far from perfect.
My biggest gripe is the audio quality, it clearly uses very cheap and old technology for the radio circuit as the background hum it picks up is ridiculous. We have to turn it right down at night so the we can sleep over the loud hum the monitors make. It also seems to be very susceptible to interference we get a lot...

Absolutely love this monitor!
My premmie bub has been in his own room since 5 weeks old and this has allowed me to relax and get a bit of sleep without worry.
He is a reflux bub who used to sleep on a wedge etc and these breathing pads are terrific. The sensitivity can be adjusted so it can still pick up his breathing while raised. The shop assistant advised us that you could put two mattresses on top of the sensor pads and they could still detect breathing! This sensitivity also means bub can't roll off the pads and trigger the alarm - wherever my little one ends up,...it can still register his breathing. The highest sensitivity will even pick up things such as a fan blowing in the room, so it will need to be adjusted according to what you've got happening in the room. The handset has great range and i have never had any interference. As a test, I made it across the road to my neighbours front door before i started losing the signal, so it's perfect if i go out to the garden, check the letterbox, etc. The volume can go up quite high and can also be temporarily 'muted' but the beeping (from the sensor pads) will continue. The onscreen display is great if you need to mute the sound, you can still 'see' if there is any sound. The battery life of the handset is quite good, i could leave my handset on thru the night (say 8hrs) and then on and off thru the day naps (roughly 4-5hrs) before it would need a full charge. If i gave it a top up every time bub was awake it would last ages. The best way is to charge it over night while its on. The soft blue night light is perfect. I usually leave it off and only turn it on when needed (such as searching for the lost dummy in the middle of the night!) and it is not bright at all, but perfect to do what you need to do.
the Angelcare AC401 is unreal!
Have a perfect night sleep! I previously had the ACS201, it was wonderful, I took great comfort in the alarm would sound if my little guy stopped breathing. However the interference was painful in the older model! In the AC401 model completely eliminates that issue. On the front of the monitor it has an icon indicating that it is registering each breathe!
That the monitor registers sound after 3 secs, so you don't get disturbed by a quick cough.
I had the Anglecare AC201 (analogue) for our first child in 2004. When we got it out of mothballs, the interference and static was terrible. As I was very happy with the performance of this model, decided to upgrade to the digital version. From the above, you will see I’ve has a few problems. I really liked this monitor, but wasn’t willing to try for monitor number 3 to find one that works. It was really easy to use. Got a refund and have bought an Oricom 200 which is charging as I type. The Oricom doesn’t have sensor pads.
Using parent unit to...
I can have my baby in her own room and don't feel the need to run in every 2 minutes to check whether she is breathing. I would not feel comfortable without the sensor pads and would never put her down to sleep without this product. I may be paranoid and terrified of SID's like any other parent, but this product has really helped me be more comfortable about baby's sleeping during day and night. I know SIDS can still happen but at least I would be in her room as fast as lightening if the alarm sounded and ready to take action. No false alar...ms so far (3 months of continued use). Extra peace of mind. Sensor pads are a godsend. Price(but worth every cent) and there is some interference and static as there are only two channels in the model I have. I have the older model and the parents unit (white angel shaped device) does not have a clip so you can carry it around with ease and the volume adjustment knob could be better as it is hard to adjust.
If the movement pad had worked properly this system would have been a 10/10! I will be returning it for a full refund... hopefully!
The sound detection option, you can either hear EVERYTHING or just the louder noises. The night light also comes in very handy.
The movement pad picked up the airconditioning and ceiling fan as breathing so was detecting movement even when bub was not even in the cot, we didn't have to the use the HOLD option because the alarm never went off! We tried everything to resolve this but in the end we really only needed...
mlmac06, did you get your refund? Waste of money. Paying top dollar for a product that doesnt do what its supposed to.
The mats pick up EVERYTHING. Brought this as my daughter had breathing problems in hospital, spend a fortune on it (as you would all know) and it doesnt give me the peace of mind as i thought it would. Worked perfectly while our baby was in our room, in cradle, with aircon, now that i have moved her to her cot with the fan on, it will detect movement even when she's out of her cot.
On General, not a bad product. Does what is promises. Static is terrible despite of 8 channels. The problem I have is that parent unit switches off by itself, and I cant even know when it happens. It happened at night last night, and I dont know how long the monitor was not functioning (all charges and connections are correct and on). This is the SECOND parent unit I have got - the previosu one was doing the same thing. Will see how quickly they will fix the problem under warranty.
Temperature readings ar off by about 2-3 degrees.
great functions, movement detection works great
Expensive, needs mpt work on the development
Great peace of mind for parents
We looked around at monitors and being parents we were bamboozled by so many and so many opinions.
We took the advice of good friends whom had a 3 yr old and 18 month old boys to seriously consider the Angelcare and we are glad we did.
Haven't had static problems as others have , it has multiple channels to select if you have diff devices on the same frequency.
Our newborn sleeps in the cot in his room and we can hear the reassuring 'tic tic' to indicate there is movement ie breathing and moving.
Clear sound ,range is about 100meters from base (through walls etc).Proven product , sensor pads under cot mattress , transportable if you want to take it away.
Slightly more expensive than other brands but worth it !
Love this, just bought a second for our new baby!
Absolute peace of mind with the breathing monitor. The temperature monitor is also great, especially in the colder months. Portable with good range. A variety of options in the settings so you can tailor it as you wish. If using the breathing monitor and you have a fan in the room: whilst the fan is on and the baby is not in the bed, turn the monitor on, wait 20 secs and see if the alarm goes off. If not, the fan is being detected as the babies breathing and you may need to redirect or not use the fan. Other than that one fan issue, the product...is fabulous. We've just bought a second one to use with our new baby as I'm not ready to give up the peace of mind the breathing monitor offers with my toddler. Love the breathing monitor. My baby's a log head so when she slept for 11 hours straight at only 3 weeks old, it saved me having a heart attack! It can be set so you only hear through the monitor when the baby makes noise to a certain level therefore there isn't constant static through the night. When you do hear noise through it, you can hit mute which works for around 20 secs - great to not also wake your partner. Parent monitor beeps if baby monitor is switched off while it's on - nice and safe. Can be set to beep if room gets hotter or cooler that a desired temp. The breathing monitor is designed to pick up the slightest of movements. So long as these movements are detected, the alarm won't go off if the baby stops breathing. If you use a fan in summer, test that the monitor won't detect this as the baby's breathing movement. In our case, we just needed to turn a pedestal fan away from the cot but others with roof fans aren't able to use them.
Best product we have ever bought
This product is fantastic. The breathing sensors allow us to know that our little one is breathing properly and saves us from wanting to go in every 5-10 minutes to check that he's still okay. The temperature also shows on the parent units and can be set with an alarm if it goes above or below the temperature range you choose. This has been great as there have been a couple of times we've set the air con too hot, or let the room get too cold, and it always lets us know. The audio is great, we have one monitor upstairs in our room for when we're asleep, and one downstairs so we can monitor during day sleeps.
Great product, love the safety of knowing the alarm will sound if there's a problem, temperature display is excellent.
Couldn't have lived without it!
We bought this monitor when I was pregnant with our first child and have used it for both our children. It has been fantastic in giving us peace of mind while our babies are sleeping.
The movement sensors (which you put under the mattress) set off an alarm (one loud beep) if no movement (ie breathing) is detected for 20 seconds and a full alarm if no movement then occurs (continuous loud beeps). We had a couple of scares with our son - the full alarm went off once and we ran in and picked him up and he took a big breath. Phew!!! I can't bea...r to think what would have happened if we hadn't had the monitor. We have never had any problems with interference and the temperature monitor is also really useful. I would highly recommend the AngelCare monitor. Reliable.

Excellent investment for peace of mind
We are very happy with our Angelcare monitor and it helped me transition our bub to her own room. It was fantastic for peace of mind, knowing it would alert us if she happened to stop breathing. This allowed me to relax and get better sleep myself as I wasn't constantly listening for her or getting up to check on her.
We found it very easy to set up and it has performed brilliantly without fault. The temperature gauge is accurate and very handy, the display is easy to read although the viewing angle can make it hard to see sometimes but I co...nsider this only a minor fault. The fact it is portable (can use standard AAA batteries) has been very handy as well as we have taken it with us when visiting friends etc without needing to take all the charging equipment as well. The nightlight is bright enough to see what you are doing in the room but not too bright that it disturbs baby or hurts their eyes if they have just woken. Overall, a brilliant product that we highly recommend to our family and friends. Easy to set up, reliable, lots of features, looks good
Questions & Answers
Is there a second pad that can be connected to the ac027
Thank you for the question. Was this for an additional child or for an additional pad under the same mattress?

Angelcare movement monitor states " senses movement". Does this movement include breathing? Might sound like a silly question but if you have a new born and they are fast asleep then they won't be moving as in wriggling around. Want to clarify if the " movement" covers breathing in and out?
It covers movement. If baby is in bassinet their breathing is picked up as movement (as I used it from newborn with all mine in a bassinet and it worked - not sure about cot as the mattress is thicker and baby at newborn is small) however if baby is not breathing but having a seizure of something it won't pick up that the baby needs help as baby is moving. I think there is one company that have a sock that works as a heart rate monitor so alarms will go off if baby isn't breathing. Hope this helped
Thank you for your enquiry.
The Angelcare sensor pad senses all movement in the cot, including your baby's breathing.
Hope this helps.

Hi. Can a AC601 monitor work with the AC401? I have tried to link up the AC401 sensor pad with the AC601 monitor, but it doesn't appear to be compatible. Please advise?
All the Angelcare monitors are their own integrated system, therefore can not have other model numbers added to them.
