Have used this monitor for 4 years now, and that seems like pretty good value for money to me.
For young babies we used it with the movement sensor pads. It took a while to adjust the sensitivity correctly - in the beginning the alarm would go off when the fan was on, etc. But after we worked this out it was great. Then we switched to just using it without the sensors as they got older.
The manual was a bit of a mission to read. After our 2nd child we discovered a lot of extra features that we didn't know about, like the temperature a...larm! So make sure you read it in full. We do have an issue on the parent unit where it occasionally doesn't work 100%. Some of the bars will remain blank, so you have to kind of guess what the temp is from the bars that do appear. This only seems to be an issue on rainy days...weird. But it still picks up sound, so that's fine. Also had to replace a cord on the nursery unit after 3 years of use, for an extra $75.
Peace of mind but lots of static/feedback
I was given this monitor when my baby was born. The movement aspect of the monitor was very reassuring particularly when she was a newborn. The only problem I had with this product is that it is very noisy with static and feedback. I tried every different channel with the same problem. Also, as a first time parent I would have like a video monitor rather than this one.
Reassuring for a first-time parent
Noisy, static & feedback
Peace of mind for first time parents
We went with the 2 parent unit as we have a big home. But i wish i got the one with the video monitor. It has some great features. Eg I liked the idea of the sleep mat and like that i can glimpse at the screen to look at the pendelum to know he is breathing rather than getting up and checking on bubs. It gave me peace of mind that bubs was breathing without checking on him. The temp control on the monitor is great too. It gives me a good idea if I need to add extra layers. The night light is great. Its not too bright, but bright enough to feed ...or find dummies. I don't like that you have to turn off the parent unit when you pick bubs up, because if you don't it beeps every few seconds, which is annoying especially when the unit is in our room, down the other end of the house with hubby asleep . I also really don't like how bright the parent unit is. Too bright for when I'm trying to sleep. The manual for the product is also very vague and assumes knowledge of the product.- it was easy to set up, but if you want to go into some of the features you have to really read through it very carefully. Hubby thinks that the product should have the two parent units work like a 2 way. Really we only ever use one unit and the price of this one makes it a waste of money. The product is expensive for what it is, and if I had my time again i probably wouldn't get this model. NIght light, sleep mat, temp monitor, pendulum on monitor to show bubs is breathing. Easy to set up Expensive. Light on parent unit too bright. Having to turn parent unit and nursery unit off when picking up bubs as beeps on both. 2nd parent unit a waste of money.

Does the job, but could be better
Bought this model based on reviews I read here and have been using it now for around 8 months.
While it does the job and is comparatively cheap for a monitor set with pressure sensors for the bed, it is certainly far from perfect.
My biggest gripe is the audio quality, it clearly uses very cheap and old technology for the radio circuit as the background hum it picks up is ridiculous. We have to turn it right down at night so the we can sleep over the loud hum the monitors make. It also seems to be very susceptible to interference we get a lot...
On General, not a bad product. Does what is promises. Static is terrible despite of 8 channels. The problem I have is that parent unit switches off by itself, and I cant even know when it happens. It happened at night last night, and I dont know how long the monitor was not functioning (all charges and connections are correct and on). This is the SECOND parent unit I have got - the previosu one was doing the same thing. Will see how quickly they will fix the problem under warranty.
Temperature readings ar off by about 2-3 degrees.
great functions, movement detection works great
Expensive, needs mpt work on the development
Questions & Answers
Is there a second pad that can be connected to the ac027
Thank you for the question. Was this for an additional child or for an additional pad under the same mattress?

Angelcare movement monitor states " senses movement". Does this movement include breathing? Might sound like a silly question but if you have a new born and they are fast asleep then they won't be moving as in wriggling around. Want to clarify if the " movement" covers breathing in and out?
It covers movement. If baby is in bassinet their breathing is picked up as movement (as I used it from newborn with all mine in a bassinet and it worked - not sure about cot as the mattress is thicker and baby at newborn is small) however if baby is not breathing but having a seizure of something it won't pick up that the baby needs help as baby is moving. I think there is one company that have a sock that works as a heart rate monitor so alarms will go off if baby isn't breathing. Hope this helped
Thank you for your enquiry.
The Angelcare sensor pad senses all movement in the cot, including your baby's breathing.
Hope this helps.

Hi. Can a AC601 monitor work with the AC401? I have tried to link up the AC401 sensor pad with the AC601 monitor, but it doesn't appear to be compatible. Please advise?
All the Angelcare monitors are their own integrated system, therefore can not have other model numbers added to them.
