120% Premium Mark-up After 1 Year
I purchased ANZ Contents Insurance in September, 2020. The price was good and the cover looked great, so I bought it.
Last week, 12 months later, I received my renewal notice with the price of the premium more than doubled. 120% mark-up to be exact.
I phoned ANZ to find out what the error was. We went through a series of questions which resulted in the operator telling me she wasn’t sure why my premium went up that much - nothing had changed. Nothing had changed for my house, my contents, my area, my security, or my belongings, and I’d made...no claims and it was all for the same value. She said she couldn’t understand the price more than doubling and that she’d investigate. Well she did investigate and emailed me back today to tell me she couldn’t find a reason why my premium more than doubled, but that the new price was firm and there was nothing she could do. I stress again. She admitted there was NO REASON for the 120% increase, but told me the price was firm anyway. So for that, I’m writing this review to help others avoid ANZ insurance.
