Been with them 2.5 years, low prices, protected No claim bonus on both our cars. Partner went to their recommended repairer who unfortunately painted the rear bumper the wrong colour! [It was the original 6 yea ar old colour,but the car naturally had faded, & they did not match it. I did not notice until 2 months later.] Apart from that, they have been great.

Easy and satisfying claim
I find the premiums quite good value - not the cheapest but satisfactory. The recent claim I made was easy and worked a treat. Replacement hire car was simple and fast - the repair took a long time but that was because the manufacturer didn't have parts in Australia (!?!) so no fault of APIA. Happy customer for over 10 years now.
After reading all the bad reviews after my not at fault accident, and the person at fault was not insured , I was anxious to say the least. But my experience with Apia has been great.
Accident happened on a sat and it took till the Wednesday for the car to arrive at the accessing yard. It then took 8 business days for the vehicle to be assessed as a write off ,which I felt was a long time. Geat service customer
We have home insurance and 2 car comprehensive insurance and green slips with Apia very easy to talk to the over the phone I recommend it.
We are only a bit disappointed with the price they are similar to other insurance otherwise we will give 5 stars.
A bit of a wait (but over Christmas and New Year) but work done was excellent.
Ute ploughed into our bull-nose veranda and cement-filled column - a mess. This was shored up for safety, then two-month wait which was distressing. Work excellent when carried out, and APIA pleasant and available.
Today my 63year old mother was in a accident.i rang Apia and explained she was stranded on the side of the road with her dog,and within seconds [name removed] from the call centre told me hang on and I will try to ring the mobile phone. [name removed] rang and had mum sorted out with a rented car and towe truck service. Thank you [name removed] from the claims department you are wonderful ,god bless you.

Can't say I have a fault with this
So far, so good.
We have home/contents, caravan, and car. One current claim in for ceiling flood damage. Lost claim for 6 weeks, but back on track after second assessment of root cause (my suggestion). Caravan claim last year. Good repairer, my fault, small damage.They did ring and say repairs are authorized - told them that's good because van already repaired and back home!Now the latest. Vehicle accident. Stopped for Ambulance guy behind did not. 1990 Merc in near pristine condition totalled.Rang that night 5.00pm, guy was brilliant and enthusiastic. Claim do...ne over phone, time booked in for assessment in Adelaide. AAMI building! Yes now i know! Anyway, girls helpful, manager good, said it would probably be write off because of cost vs value. Waited a few days assessor confirmed it was a write off and would research value. Few days later advised of figure which was good and allows me to replace car with similar if i can find one.Still waiting for pay out cheque. Been 2 weeks so far,promised will be in 2 weeks.While waiting checking other companies quotes. APIA looks way too expensive. Great Service Waiting for pay out. Compare premiums before.
Fast, helpful service, quick pay-out
Our car was damaged by hail- extensive but not deep dents. I wasn't even going to check on insurance because I thought it would all be 'too hard'.
We rang Apia who asked for the $500 excess up front, and booked us in for an assessment the following week - was dubious about paying up front, but thought we may as well take the car to see if it was worth going ahead with. They did say 'no personal items in the car' but I thought they just meant valuables if we left it.
The hail assessment place was huge- lots of different insurance companies...- and the assessor decided it was a write-off as it was only insured for $8,000. I got a huge shock and was upset, but the staff were so nice- explained my options, offered me water etc, didn't rush us. They sent us home in a taxi (their cost) and the $ was in our account 2 days later. We had 'agreed value' on the car since our last renewal- the agent we spoke to at Apia strongly recommended it- and we were so glad we'd followed her advice. So although I miss my little car, I can't fault Apia's handling of our case, and in fact financially we are better off with the $8,000 (less $500 excess) than with an 8-year-old car worth only a few thousand (less with all the hail damage). Good staff, efficient, saved us money
Questions & Answers
I have lodged a claim with APIA, for damage to my car by a third party. But I was told by APIA that I have to pay the excess upfront, and I'll get it refunded "IF things work out with the third party"! I am having anxiety over the idea that I might get stuck with the $825 excess bill! This seems so wrong, when I'm the victim!
