Nostalgia, simplicity, design & enhanceable storage upgrades – The first time I came across the iPod mini was whilst purchasing my first ever iPod - a shuffle - in 2005. I couldn’t afford the mini and I didn’t think I needed one until I quickly ran out of storage and patience with the screenless shuffle. Later that year I had enough $ to purchase an upgrade and by this time the nano was available. I didn’t… Read more
know the nano had completely replaced the mini, and so when I went to my local department store to purchase my new iPod, I was met with a choice - for the same money I could purchase the new shiny colour screen nano in 2GB or a returned iPod mini in silver in 4GB. 15yo me didn’t think I needed that much space and the colour screen was far more enticing so I chose the nano. Within weeks I had (somewhat) wondered if the mini would have been a better choice.
Up until this time I had never actually used an iPod mini, but a friend of mine at school had one. Within minutes of holding it (despite it being pink) I knew that it was far superior to my nano and I deeply desired to own it. Realising buying one would be difficult considering they were discontinued, I offered her a simple trade - her 1 year old pink mini for my near new nano with its 5 coloured plastic protection cases. She wouldn’t trade straight up so we swapped for the day to try each other’s out - songs and all. I was so happy when she accepted & I couldn’t wait to get home to make it mine.
From that point, every time I have swapped and upgraded to other iPods (And of course iPhones), I have always fondly remembered and on occasion purchased a working mini to enjoy for its simple use of playing just music
As time has gone on I feel the mini, along with the music it plays is a pure bundle of nostalgia. Thankfully, purchasing one of these with new batteries and upgraded storage (I currently have a blue 128GB mini) has made these iPods far more practical and useful in 2022. Here’s to many more to come. It is a great simple player that does its job and well. It’s stylish, light (especially after a HDD replacement to flash storage) and feels great in the hand. What’s more - no upgrades, notifications, distractions onscreen or internet use required to use. Long live the iPod mini.
OK – If you want an iPod just for listening to music, no videos or podcasts then the iPod classic, which doesn't sell on the market, is for you. Had a good amount of memory for one of the first iPods. Has a nice, smooth wheel. It has a black and white screen. It has quite a small screen. Even though in-cased in metal, this iPod is very susceptable to… Read more
falls. It is also very susceptable to water and dampness. My first iPod classic broke from a fall and the second broke from gettign wet in my bag when it got hit by a sprinkler.
Terrible – For its time, the iPod mini was a great device, but when compared with the competition of today, it just doesn't measure up. For its time, the Apple iPod mini was the best portable music device and with a 4 gigabyte flash drive memory, there is no problem about storing all your songs. The iPod mini has a great battery life (8 hours) and comes with… Read more
several games. The iPod mini is really fast to recharge. The iPod mini has an extremely pixelated screen, which is just too small to be practical. The games on the iPod mini really aren't that interesting and you'll be over them after about an hour.
Bad – Overall, If i had the option i wouldnt buy this product again, mine broke within a year as the screen slipped down and has a crack running through it. Also the battery life is pretty pathetic, origional my ipod mini would have reasonable battery life but now after a little use no matter how much i charge it, it dies within 10 minutes. the… Read more
alluminium case is not as indistructable as it seems, mine is covered with scratches and dents and i have treated it fairly decently. I would not recomend this product to anyone because there are better mp3 players out there and this is not apple's best ipod It is relatively compact and the click wheel is nice. the gray scale screen
and it breaks easily
does not resist scratches like it claims
Terrible – I first bought my Ipod mini as i needed something to store music on for a road trip so i could listen to something instead of just looking out the window. So i decied to get an ipod mini, big mistake. I took it out the box and first thing i saw was a crack in the screen so i took it back and was told that i had to go to an apple store to get it… Read more
fixed, which i did. It came back in a cople of days so i was happy. It wourked fine for the first year and then 2 days out of warranty it started to freeze and the battery sotpped holding charge, i took it to apple to be fixed and they refused but they did give me a new 8GB ipod half price, and that had the same problems appart from the cracked screen. It stopped working in Jan last year so i went out and bought a creative zen 16GB and have not looked back since. So in simple words never by an apple ipod, and I will never buy one again! I was great in its time but nothing is a pro from what i think Everything.
Terrible – I promised myself I would never buy another apple product but I ended up with the ipod nano, which is very good I must say. They came in nice colours, and 4gb was enough space to hold your songs. I had so many problems with this ipod. It contiuously froze and I wasn't happy so I tried to refund it. The shop where I got it from said they would not… Read more
refund it and said I had to go to Apple. Apple took my ipod for a few weeks and eventually said they would not refund it becuase it had a little scrath on it and came to a conclusion that I must've dropped it. In the end I kept the ipod and then got frustrated again with the battery becuase it only lasted about an hour!
OK – Well it was confusing to use in the beginning but after viewing the manual I was able to learn how to properly use the iPod correctly. It would have been best for Apple to make the product more easier to understand especially for a person who does not know technology as much! Found it to be useful to listen to music while outside. I also liked… Read more
the overall looks of it. Was not found of the battery and found it frustrating. Also found it tough to manage my play lists and somewhat confusing.
Bad – This ipod was not a good one, no wonder they got rid of it!! It was fine for the first couple of month, but after that everything went wrong. The battery became so bad it was only lasted an hour at times, and the computer component failed multiple times. I am very glad i bought my now current ipod and passed my mini onto somebody else. children perhaps, but overall, not a good item. The outer casing was very hard and resistant to scratches and bumps. Battery was horrible, lasted 2 hours at the most. Frequently froze and had to be replaced a few times.
OK – The ipod mini is a compact size ipod. This is much more better when carrying it around as it can fit quite comfortably in your pocket. One of the let downs is the USB charger. In order to charge it, you must connect it to a computer's USB port. But who's going to carry around a computer when they go on a holiday? This means that if you want to… Read more
take it on holiday and it goes flat, unless you have a computer with you, you will not be able to charge it back up again compact USB charger
Bad – I don't like this Apple iPod very much. It is very difficult to use. You really need to read the user manual before you start using this product. Convenience of listening to music while you are out and about. I listen to my iPod at work to block out all the noise. Managing my songs is a nightmare. You must connect to a laptop or computer to work… Read more
on your playlist. Travelling with the iPod is all too hard because the product comes with a USB charger - so unless you have a computer while on holidays, there's no point taking your iPod with you.
Terrible – A fairly average mp3, if it didn't have so much memory, it would have been a waste of time making! Not very good size either, fairly bulky! you can listen to your favourite tunes while on the run. the clours are nice, and the desgn with the thick metal cover is excellent, you can dropp it over and over but it wont do anything. the ipod mini's… Read more
computer is shocking! They are known for their faults and that is precisly why they took them off the maket-too many complaints!! The battery is terrible, and only lasts a few hours!
Good – This is the most consistent mp3 player I have ever used. It has never stopped working and the sound quality and features are solid. Very reliable mp3 player. Its small enough to fit in my pocket. Battery life is above average and its quite durable. I've dropped mine a few times it it only caused minor blemishes. The interface is good and most… Read more
people are familiar with it. It uses iTunes which is great for syncing all your music. You can even install iPodLinux or Rockbox on it for added functionality. It has a grayscale screen but sufficient enough that I don't complain.
Good – Overall this company will give you the full requrements and expectations with this product. As many people have already bought them. It is slim, small, and has great colourful screen. The sound which is produced is loud clear and very effective. The memory of what it can hold is large having a large capacity to hold Large amounts of songs. Some… Read more
Ipod minis may beable to hold movies. It also has a large variety of colours to chose from. Since it is so slim it can be easily broken, or so called snapped. Running with them is not a good idea.
OK – The sound quality was quite impressive and loud. But I probably wouldn't recomend it to anybody because I did have a few problems with mine. I found that it froze adn would'nt work again for a while, until the battery fully ran out. sound quality is good. fat, and i found that it froze quite oftenly.
Good – i think that the ipod itself is a great product but not the earphones. the earphones is a really bad design, doesn't last very long. it holds a lot of songs so its good for teenagers if they have heaps of songs. i think it is a good design. i like the variety of colours to pick from. Ther colours for boys and girls. its better than an MP3… Read more
instead of pressing a button you search a song, you only have to go around the wheel on the ipod. you can also look at photos on your ipod. Theres are games too which make it even more better when your bored. its a bit thick and big. the newer ones are the right size. the earphones break so easily which make it a bad design and product. but that's just the earphones.
they are a bit expensive and so are the earphones. you can buy earphones for $2 outside and the ipod ones are $50. such a big rip off.
Good – If you want a cute, girly-looking MP3 player and don't need extra features such as storing photos and playing video content, it's hard to beat. Abailable in gorgeous colours - pink, green, blue and silver. Cute, sleek design. Battery life isn't that great. The interface (ie swirling your finger around the face) isn't very easy to use when playing the games on the player - don't bother with them.
Excellent – A brilliant little system. There are cheaper players out there but these look cool!Thoroughly recommend them if you have the $299. Also look at the Logitech MM22 speakers ($99) as a handsome and simple bedside accessory. The stylish looks, the small size, the sound quality, very easy to use once you work it all out. Having to charge through your computer, doesn't come with a/c adaptor or dock.
Good – I like it and use it more than I thought I would. Feels good in the hand, looks great, easy to use, large capacity, good sound quality. Seems robust (I dropped it on concrete and it still works!) Nothing so far.
Good – overall i give it a 4 and a half out of five this is a very impressive product, especially when you consider it'a unbelievibly cheap price!!!!! this is well worth the mere omney you pay for entertainment!!!!get one well recommended. it is light weight, very simple, sleek, and stylish structure, sound is very impressive for the price of this winner.… Read more
nothing really comes to mind i find this to be top of the range when it comes to ipod mini's i love this model and think everyone who loves to listen to music should have one of these apple ipod mini mp3 players.
Excellent – I love my little green mini,it is always in my hand bag. It is very easy to use and with the amount of songs you can put on them you won't have to worry about hearing the same song too many times the gorgeous colour, the amount of songs it holds, the size Battery seems to run out quickly, mine got a bit scratched very easily
Excellent – Very light and easy to use,and sounds great when plugged into the car or home stereo. Also good as a data storage device. Good sound Easy access to songs in the menu options Very compact and light to carry. Poor battery life between charges Expensive battery replacement Aust $99
Good – Overall, a really fantastic thingie... I have my whole music collection on it. Awesome little gadget, nice and small, easy and simple to use, good sound quality. The battery life is a little short, so a bit of a pain, but otherwise great product.
Good – great little thing, couldnt live without it now, holds perfect amount of song,... whos going to listen to over 20hrs of music in one go??? sound quality is not broke, maybe the headphones arent that great but apart from that its great!!! great sound quality, small compact, light, shitloads of songs for half the size of a discman, easy to use like… Read more
all mac stuff, couldnt live without it now ive got it no colour screen, but thats no biggy, ummm..... i dunno! its a great little thing!!!!!
oh yeah, battery goes down after a bit but can be replaced for only about $50 maybe, every 1-2 years?
Good – Lovely piece of equipment, great colours. Simplicity of Operation, sound quality, music storage Battery at best lasts 4.5 hours. Availability in WA, Apple Centre in Sterling Highway, Nedlands does have them from time to time. Quick Time, built in the sofware, is a pain in tne butt. iPod will not work without it. The price in Perth of 399.00AUD
OK – If you want the better quality MP3 company without the massive cost, and don't mind sacrificing capacity, this is the choice. The look, the price, the menu system Battery life and the expense of accesories
