Easy to use and works flawlessly
Simple, easy to use interface with a remote that is workable once you get used to it.
Served me well for this long and don't intending on switching anytime soon.

- TV 4K 1st Generation (2017)
Simplest, most effective way into Disney+ in Australia
When my wife and I heard Disney+ was coming to Australia, we knew we wanted it. To date (mid-2021), our Telstra TV (rebadged Roku) doesn't offer Disney+ and there's really too much vulgarity for our liking with the other major content providers we tried (N**F**x and S**n) so we really wanted Disney+ for our family. My research revealed that in Australia, the cheaper alternatives to the Apple TV 4K either didn't offer Disney+ or required hacks to access the US Disney+ service. In addition, the ones with tangential references to Disney+ support w...ere too obscure to determine whether they supported the Australian service or not, and in any case, some users were reporting playback problems with cheap media streamers, like stuttering video and the like. I'm getting too old and impatient to muck around with patches and fixes and hacks: I just want things to work, and yes, I'll pay a premium in order to get the good thing that will absolutely, positively do what it claims without any dramas or fuss ... and that's what the Apple TV delivers. Setting-up the ATV-4K (1st generation) was dead easy, its operation has been flawless, and its interface looks great and is very intuitive to use. There is a good selection of apps available for it, including all the streaming 'broadcast' channels in Australia, which is a big improvement on the strictly curated, extremely limited offerings available on the 3rd generation ATV. Apple Arcade – Apple's new subscription-based gaming platform – makes the newer Apple TVs highly attractive as gaming devices too: a feature I'm sure will grow to rival the major players in the gaming sphere. In fact, I'm looking to buy bluetooth gaming controllers for our ATV, though thus far we've been using the ATV's remote to game to some extent. Speaking of the remote, its small touchpad is the only niggle I have with this recently discontinued but far from obsolete 4th generation Apple TV. That touchpad is so sensitive that one has to be careful even with how one picks up the remote or holds it while watching something, lest one unintentionally pauses or exits a programme. It's also quite finicky as a selection device because the touchpad sits on the selection clicker: one pushes on it to activate a selection. All sorts of things happen if your finger should slide in the least on the touchpad while you're pressing the clicker. To compensate, Siri is good at understanding voice commands via the mic on the remote, but not always – especially with oddly named programme titles – and that's when one has no option but to key in the letters one-by-one with that touchpad. Apple supply a redesigned, click-operated remote with the latest, Apple TV 4K (2nd generation), and apparently it works just fine with the 1st generation ATV 4K, but at $80 a pop for the remote alone, I won't be rushing out to buy one unless someone breaks ours. My son seems to navigate the interface with aplomb using that touchpad, so I'm guessing I'll get better with it over time. I want to take a star off my rating for the ATV 4K, but that seems a bit too harsh. Half a star off! I don't have a 4K TV so I can't speak to the performance at that resolution but on my 1080p Full High Definition TV, the picture looks great. Apart from the touchy remote, the Apple TV 4K is an excellent, high-quality media streaming device and arguably the best way into Disney+ in Australia ... other than perhaps a current, Gen2 Apple TV 4K.

The new Apple 4K TV remote control
I have always been a big fan of Apple TV and I recently took the plunge to buy the latest 4K Apple TV. However I am very disappointed with their remote control. The new remote control is just terrible! It’s hard to use, not user friendly at all and just frustrating and I just wish they used the older Apple TV remote control which was so much easier to use. I won’t buy another Apple TV unless they fix their remote control issue.

Previous models were much better quality
I bought the first generation Apple TV and it was great quality. It still works so bought the next version which still works fine. Then bought the 4K Gen version and it is a piece of rubbish. The operating system is great however the hardware is poor quality. I have had issues with signal not working to our TV and then it just stopped working. It is out of warranty and so $209 to repair which is crazy when a new one is $249. I opened it up and checked the power supply. It is still fine and giving out 12volts. The only reason would then be softw...are however you can not connect it to a computer using USB to restore it like older generations. I have owned many Apple products which have worked very well. The Gen 5 - 4K Apple TV is a lemon. I phoned Apple and explained it was using the Beta software however has no help. The person at JB-HiFi said they last about 3 years. That is terrible. Not everyone wants to replace their Apple TV every 3 years. Sadly this is a poorly made product with no support if it breaks. You should be able to get it fixed at a lot less than the $209 Not happy with Apple anymore.

Lazy cheap technology User UNFRIENDLY!
We have had an Apple TV for many years and use it to watch videos from our computer and to watch Youtube. They are great and we have upgraded as needed throughout the years. Just recently you have to upgrade to watch Youtube as the old tech is not supported. Ok, this we did. The new version 5? is a mess. The old remote was clever, intuitive. Great design. I can't compliment it enough.
Now we have some lazy, half-hearted attempt at an AppleTV. I would love to list the things wrong with it, but there are so many, it would have to be a novel. My ...

Waste of a lot of time
I tried for hours to sign up to this platform just to watch the world's a little blurry but have finally given up. I even spent an hour on the phone to apple support. They make you jump through hoop after hoop after hoop with endless email and sms 6 digit codes to join and in the end if I didn't own an Apple device to watch it on I was given a message in red letting me know I was unable to watch anything on apple tv, even though I was assured I could still join without owning an Apple device by their representative. I wasted a lot of time tryin...g to join on a false premise. I have never considered buying an Apple product due to the way they deliberately create ways to cause all their devices to slowly no longer operate effeciently after a 12month period. I wouldn't bother with Apple TV if you own a non apple PC.
What’s the point
I found this streaming platform unbelievable, you pay 80 bucks a year to look at titles to rent...I mean seriously that’s like paying 80 bucks to walk in an old video store!!!
For example it would cost 180 bucks to watch all 8 seasons of Game of Thrones thru Apple TV or just 12 bucks through Binge
It’s so so much cheaper to subscribe to Netflix, Stan, Binge and Disney then you have all the same titles and don’t have to buy or rent them
What a joke

Reliable and works well
After trying a few streaming devices, I finally settled on Apple TV 4K. It's been super-reliable. The user interface is nice. The touch pad on the remote and the voice input make some tasks easier.
It does have a few little issues but they're not a big deal. It's hard to tell whether the remote control is the right way around because it's symmetrical in both directions. The frame rate matching feature is practically useless because it drops frames and has stuttering problems with some videos, so you end up having to turn it off. The Netflix ap...p doesn't work with the movie search or the Siri voice commands, so these features aren't very useful. But despite the little issues, I'd definitely recommend the Apple TV because it just works, is easy to use, and doesn't get in the way when I want to watch something.

Waste of money
I downloaded onto our Samsung TV as an app, it looked like lots of great titles were on the apple tv so I was excited to watch everything. It took a while to set up and it was harder than other streaming services to set up. Once logged in, I browsed through the catalogue to find that most movies and TV shows wernt included with the subscription and I had to pay extra! What is the point of subscribing? I'm not even going to wait till the end of the trial to delete it! Waste of time!

CAME WITH THE PHONE
Received 12 months free with the new iphone.
Very little on it included under the subscription. It's more of a Hub for streaming services and FTA channel services. Lots of links to other streaming services and it's a bit of a mess in it's setup of what's included and paid for.
Found that everything you want to see is an additional pay as a rental or buy or links to another service - Like netflix and disney where you need to pay that subscription to access, and so it's a bit pointless and could be costly.
They really need the Apple subscript...ion that covers all the streaming services on the Apple TV s that are discounted over buying them all individually. Then you'd have something. Apple: you're welcome and you can send me my royalty cheque(s) anytime. :) Cannot see a reason to continue to pay a subscription once the included free period ends. Netflix is easier to navigate and does streaming better at the flat charge.

Apple TV 4k
Don’t buy one, not worth it. Issues on a lot of tvs. We brought new HDMI cable, a converter even though the tv is 4K only 3 years old so brought another tv still doesn’t work. I think Apple has shares in tvs. Starting to think about changing my iPhone to some other brand as sick of Apple maki g everything difficult. Don’t buy apple

Doesn't work on mac
Even though it was free with a new iPhone purchase it'd be even worse if i'd have to pay for it. Don't bother if you don't have an iPhone or iPad. You'd think Apple would be able to replicate a video streaming service similar to Netflix or Amazon but it's rubbish. Content would probably look good if it wasn't restricted to a tiny screen...Pointless.

Worst experience I've ever had
Worst experience setting this up of any service I've ever encountered. It's put me off ever buying another apple device. Support is shocking. If you haven't begun the tedious process, save yourself hours by using something more reliable and easier to set up (netflix or Amazon prime will just work). At every turn they get you to enter mobile phone codes - 10 or so codes in a row wasn't uncommon during the tedious days it took to try and get this to work and then when it finally did the shows wouldn't stream over the wifi. They'll ask for a local credit card to prove you can watch the shows, but they fail to mention this before you buy. Not at all worth the effort, even if you get a free trial.

Apple TV . Where does this company get off gouging customers
I have purchased movies from Apple before Apple TV . Only to find that you have to buy a subscription to Apple TV to play them.
The site offers a few movies and links to Netflix and others that you have to pay a subscription to in addition to Apple . The cheap movies that you can rent you can find on you tube for nothing .
It’s a rip off

Incredibly impossible to set up if you're not an Apple user
Just spent hours trying to set up. If you haven't any Apple products you need to set up an Apple account, an Apple store account with credit card input and endless codes send through to a mobile. Totally not recommended. Going back into box and back to store
