High cost of running
New house and new system so no issues there but I would have thought it would be cheaper compared to other older set ups? Our hot water unit is the highest energy cost on the bill
Great warranty service
Ros thoroughly investigated the issue with my 11 yo system not getting hot enough and needing near continual boosting for 9 months of the year. After tests the copper tubes were replaced under warranty and all now seems to be working well. This has been a lesson other companies could learn from in how to back your warranty and support customers.
Purchased for $7,500.00.
Failed within a year
The hot water was wonderful for the first 5-6 months. Then it just stopped working. Could not get to the unit to take look due to covid lockdown. Tenants were using a lot of electricity to heat water. When we did get across the border it was clear the controller was not working. Contacted Apricus with details and evidence of failure . They would not fix it under warranty so I have had to buy a new $385 controller on a unit that is only 14 months old. The point is that whether this controller failed within the warranty period ( which it did) or...after it still failed within the first year of use and that makes me wonder how good the whole unit it. Hoping there won't be any more complications and failures. In future I would look around for different system.

Trying to contact you - Hey are you guys still in business?????
I just popped around to your premises in Parramatta Road, Silverwater only to be told you have moved, so I shot over to Prospect Highway, Seven Hills but the business is closed and no-one has seen you guys around - I have phoned the 1300 number this morning but it rings and rings and then times out - no voice mail or anything - where are you guys?, I called the plumber who put me onto your business and he said getting through is difficult and to keep trying, please help me as I want to arrange to collect some parts to repair my 22 tube Apricu...s unit which has failed again - usually I just pick up the parts from you direct but suddenly you are hard to get hold of - why?? I thought this method of contact will reach you as you seem to respond to the reviews of others - :)

The system works well but unfortunately I have had 3 faults with my Apricus Solar Hot Water system in 6 years. Given the expense of the system it has been frustrating. For the first 2 faults it took lengthy periods of time on each occasion to resolve. Customer support was almost non existent. Each issue I've had has been different. The Ist issue related to faulty Heat Pipes. The next issue related to the pump not turning off. For the 2nd issue the advice I received was incorrect and I managed to resolve the matter myself with extensive tests an...d restarts. Recently (Nov 2020) I experienced another issue where the system did not get to the temperature cut off differential therefore the pump was continually running. HOWEVER .. I am happy to say that Apricus have learnt from the past. The customer support for the latest issue was excellent. They listened, they wanted to help, they responded rapidly and they resolved the matter within 2.5 weeks. The system is now working perfectly.

Fantastic, but only for technical people
I had an Apricus 315 litre Hot Water System installed in a new house build in 2015. Finally, four years later it is actually working and I am very happy with it. Having said that, I’ve just spent an additional $2000 and had three separate plumbers out to fix it and actually make it work. I’ve reached the conclusion that whilst the Apricus evacuated tube systems are remarkably effective when they are working, there are too many components that can fail with no real way of knowing when/if they have failed.
Allow me to explain. The Apricus syste...m works by using sensors to detect when the roof heater is hotter than the tank and then circulating water up to the roof if the roof is hot enough. Sounds simple, but in the case of my electrically boosted system, it means that faults can occur in any of: The tank/booster 3 temperature sensors Circulating pump Pump Controller Glass tubes Heat Pipes

Should have got a solar hart
System is just over two years old, 12 months ago non return valve replaced under warranty. Today circulating pump not working, rang apricus, sorry only 2 years warranty on pump, 10 years on tank, 15 years on collector but 2 0n pump. I will let you all know what goes wrong next year.
Faulty heating pipes should ALL be replaced!
Our system has finally been restored to what we imagined it would be like and in fact what it was like for the first little while when we had it installed in August 2015!
ALL 44 pipes were replaced (probably out of warranty but with no quibbling because they knew there was a problem) and the sensor has just been moved to the correct end of the system (fault of the original installers.....didn't allow enough wiring)
My concern is for all the other loyal customers out there who aren't aware that there was a faulty batch(s) of heat tubes manufa...
Good service for replacement of faulty tubes
Our system didn't seem to be performing very well, but for a long time that was perhaps all we could expect for our location in southern Tasmania. When we realised it really was well under par Apricus were very cooperative in organising for someone to look at it, then they replaced all 30 inner copper tubes. All done at no cost to us and with no further questions or quibbling. Only 3 stars because while the service was excellent the tubes should not have been faulty in the first place.
Free from the sun???????
I was one of the very first people to purchase an Apricus hot water service in Hervey Bay back in 2009. My gripe, is that while they say "free energy from the sun;" the very truth is, that there is always a hidden cost to these systems. Nearly Two years after installation, my solar pump died, and I rang the installation electrician to get a new one. BLOODY HELL!!!!! A replacement unit cost me a total of $625. Not what I was expecting. To ad injury to insult, he didn't notify Apricus, and my claim for compensation was refused. (not my fault...). I have decreased the load on the unit by switching the pump to the lowest level, and up to now it has been operating successfully for the past few years (fingers crossed): But now the tank temperature is not going to it's max of 70C in the middle of the day,not even reaching 62C and falling off at night to as low as 30C. I assume this has some thing to do with the collector units and heat transfer unit. Now I have to find a "qualified" Apricus agent here in Hervey Bay to check out the heat exchanger unit for me. I calculated out, that if I had kept my original hot water unit, I would have been better off financially on Tarif 3 off- peak, as I am the only one in my house; so it makes you wonder about all this "green crap" and ALL THE ASSOCIATED HIDDEN COSTS including pump replacements. I woukld strongly suggest anybody needing a pump replacement ensure they get an industrial grade pump - cheaper in the long run.

Not suitable for 1 or 2 occupt household
I have to admit that I can not complain about the hot water that is be generated from my Apricus 30 Manifold Hot Water System, majority of the time water is TOO hot. But I will go on record to say that this type Apricus Hot Water System is not energy saving or efficient.
Because I am a household with 1 occupant, I lose appropriately 12litres of water a week through the release valve pipe through constant dripping. I have passed on this concern on to the installer and after he changed the release value 3-4 weeks after installation, I was told...to take more showers each day, he says it is because I am not using enough of hot water daily. The installer has not been helpful in solving this problem or taking my concerns seriously and I would not recommend his company or him to anyone. I have given up on reporting this problem to the Installer and he has not come back to me since our last communication back in July 2016. We are all trying to economise, save money and save energy resources, this system is not doing this. It has the thumbs down from me, I would not recommend this system to anyone.
Vacuum Tube Failure
We have just had our tubes replaced as they were not functioning efficiently, I noticed some of the removed tubes had scale on them similar to annealed copper before quenching. As an engineer this tell me these were not transferring heat, the unit was only installed in late 2014 so I would expect much longer life from these. What is the anticipated lifespan and how long is the warranty for the new tubes?
I contacted Apricus just prior to Christmas and received a very positive and prompt response from Johann, the tubes arrived early new year an...

Don't believe the system is working properly. Energy being used to boost is equivalent to the power
System requires 11 kilowatt of power per day to maintain hot water. It would appear not much heating is being provided by the panel . Tubes appear to have lost their shine. Don't believe we're getting any return on investment. If were not on off peak the cost to heat would be prohibitive
Lack of support, unsure if it's even working
Since installing in 2013 I have no idea if my Series 2000 is working or not. The installer just installed the Apricus and that's it. I called the installer for support but he refused to help because he was owed money by the Apricus support representative here in Hobart. I paid several thousand dollars for something that can't tell me if I've even had a single cent returned on this investment. My heating/hot water bill is $400 quarter.
Our pump broke down nearly a year ago and it still isn't fixed and the hot water tank leeks it started like 3 days after we had it installed pump shit itself after 4years so now its just a hot water system a very expensive one ( loved it when it was working ) have spoken to the plumber that pur it in ...still not fixed...
Questions & Answers
Have a 30 tube system, 300L tank, off peak boost, about 9 years old. I felt it was not at efficient as it used to be (only just enough hot water for 4 evening showers, tank water so never long: and I boil the kettle to wash up or there is not enough hot water). I called out our local agent, who after looking tells me there is nothing wrong with it, he just added some paste around the sensors in case the were not conducting properly. Now, a few weeks later, my unit is error coding 55d and there is white stuff coming out of the sensor port. Inlet reading 50 degrees and roof reading 100. Which it is clearly not as it is currently night dark and winter. Clearly there is something wrong with the unit, but it seems to be hit and miss with finding out what the problem is?????? Can you help?
correction, the roof is reading 139 degrees
that is degrees celsius
Thank you for your enquiry. You are correct, there is clearly something not quite right with your system and we would like to help get to the bottom of it.
The error code 55d suggests there is a problem with one of your controller sensors. This, along with the readings you are getting could mean that the sensors are not inserted fully, are faulty and need replacing or, it is possible there is an airlock in the system causing the water to get stuck on the roof and very hot.
Please could you call our Aftersales team on 1300 277 428 or email on email@example.com so we can discuss this matter further with you and help get your system back up and running as it should.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Is there an expected life for the heat transfer paste that conducts the heat from the evacuated tubes to the manifiold? The only info that I can find suggests a maximun of 8 years effective life from the best quality paste. My 30 tube system has been in service since 2006 and after two defective tubes replaced, the system is not performing anything like it was in the first 5 years.
Thank you for your enquiry. We would recommend contacting our warranty team on firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss this matter further. We can have you run diagnostic tests on your system or suggest a service agent to determine whether your heat pipes are working effectively.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Who manufactures the water heaters - 315ltr
Thank you for your question. It depends which tank you are referring to. Our Glass-lined tanks are made by DUX whilst our stainless steal tanks are manufactured by Wise Living or Wilson.
