No electric booster EVER
The company that installed my apricus system went out of business a few weeks after installing my system. Apricus told me my warranty had to be delt with through them. After months of not being able to contact them apricus sent out their service agent. 28 tubes we not working???
They placed tubes over a skylight. The electric booster has never worked. Apparently I had a faulty system for the start as there was a whole batch recalled. The warranty on parts other than tubes was not applicable by the time apricus decide to help me.
And the person ...

Great warranty service
Ros thoroughly investigated the issue with my 11 yo system not getting hot enough and needing near continual boosting for 9 months of the year. After tests the copper tubes were replaced under warranty and all now seems to be working well. This has been a lesson other companies could learn from in how to back your warranty and support customers.
Purchased for $7,500.00.
Thanks to Ros et al who helped resolve a tricky one.
We had a mysterious and rare degradation of one of the tubes, (from the inside), and Ros worked tirelessly to have it replaced without charge: it took a while, with not many plumbers about at this time.
thanks so much for the check-ins, just to let us know what was happening. And for the final job.
Best warranty service ever.
We bought a house with an existing system which needed repair. Dealing with Ros was a real joy, to find somebody as efficient and caring as her is really rare. Backup of service 5 stars.

The system works well but unfortunately I have had 3 faults with my Apricus Solar Hot Water system in 6 years. Given the expense of the system it has been frustrating. For the first 2 faults it took lengthy periods of time on each occasion to resolve. Customer support was almost non existent. Each issue I've had has been different. The Ist issue related to faulty Heat Pipes. The next issue related to the pump not turning off. For the 2nd issue the advice I received was incorrect and I managed to resolve the matter myself with extensive tests an...d restarts. Recently (Nov 2020) I experienced another issue where the system did not get to the temperature cut off differential therefore the pump was continually running. HOWEVER .. I am happy to say that Apricus have learnt from the past. The customer support for the latest issue was excellent. They listened, they wanted to help, they responded rapidly and they resolved the matter within 2.5 weeks. The system is now working perfectly.

My Apricus 11+ Y/O Unit back into action
My 11+ year old Apricus pump and controller for my Apricus solar-tube system was finally on the blink and Amy Sears gave excellent advice on what needed fixing, enabled me to easily order and pay for the necessary spare parts and followed up with excellent advice on a repair person, giving welcomed follow-up to ensure the tradesman arrived, ensuring too that he also had the parts that had been ordered and paid for. The work was quickly and skilfully completed by the recommended plumber, Darren Bride, who certainly knows his way around the Apricus units. I am happy to recommend both Amy and Darren for their help and service with the repairs necessary for my unit.

Great service on warranty/service claim
Our Apricus solar hot water heating system was installed in 2015 and recently we discovered that all 30 heating pipes had split or failed. Just as well we had a gas booster to give us hot water. Believing the original installer, and reading the product reviews, we hesitated to even make a warranty claim. But we did. The service we received from the Aprcus staff was nothing like we had read. It was swift and efficient, and right on the two business days Apricus claims to attend to customer concerns. In fact, that afternoon, Apricus had dis...patched the needed parts from Melbourne and instructed a local plumber to carry out the work. Living in Albury/Wodonga and with the Covid-19 situation we thought our problem would take some time to be attended to. The replacement parts arrived on our doorstep within four days and the work required was carried out by a local plumber within a couple of more days. Only that it rained the plumber was coming around the following day to install the parts. Very pleased customer.

Hi I hereby fully reciprocate the last review I posted on this site in regards to my 40 tube apricus solar hot water system. I’d have to say I thought it was a total heap of crap up on my roof it’s taken nearly four years to get it sorted until the plumber showed up and told me there was a faulty batch of copper tubes inside the glass ones, since replacing those under warranty the thing is smoking free hot water no gas at all and it’s autumn loving it it’s full steam ahead from here on in go apricus

Support by Jessie
Our initial installation was faulty; there wasn't any water flow through the roof pipes for the first week or more. This installation fault was corrected by the installer.
However, it became apparent that the tubes had been damaged by being left without water, and these were replaced under warranty without question. About three months later, one of the new tubes failed, just as we are about to depart town for a while.
Jessie was most helpful in organising a replacement tube and lining up an agent to fit it while we were away. On returning home, the new tube was there and all appears fine.
Faulty heating pipes should ALL be replaced!
Our system has finally been restored to what we imagined it would be like and in fact what it was like for the first little while when we had it installed in August 2015!
ALL 44 pipes were replaced (probably out of warranty but with no quibbling because they knew there was a problem) and the sensor has just been moved to the correct end of the system (fault of the original installers.....didn't allow enough wiring)
My concern is for all the other loyal customers out there who aren't aware that there was a faulty batch(s) of heat tubes manufa...
My tank started leaking from the lower senor port and a couple of weeks later started leak out of the return port. They came had a look. they thought it may be a slow leak from where the plumber connected the return to the tank. after replacing the fitting and and checking on it for a couple of weeks.so after determining it was the tank and not the fitting, they replaced the tank straight away.
Good service for replacement of faulty tubes
Our system didn't seem to be performing very well, but for a long time that was perhaps all we could expect for our location in southern Tasmania. When we realised it really was well under par Apricus were very cooperative in organising for someone to look at it, then they replaced all 30 inner copper tubes. All done at no cost to us and with no further questions or quibbling. Only 3 stars because while the service was excellent the tubes should not have been faulty in the first place.
Solar Water Heating not without problems but great support by Apricus
My wife and I researched all Solar Hot Water systems 6 or so years ago and decided on the Apricus based on extensive research. We found that all Solar Hot Water products had mixed reviews but in the end there seemed to be a common theme with these types of systems e.g. severe frost can be an issue, and that it highly depends on the quality of the plumber that fits theses systems as well as owners having some knowledge of how to check the indicators on a semi regular basis for any issues before they become a major and expense issue ... especial...ly if it's out of warranty. At the time, overall Apricus came up the best option for us and I still stand by our decision... especially with the extremely responsive service from both Apricus and Simon from Macedon Ranges Plumbing recently. After the severe frost we had here in Lancefield, the comments I made above hold true. We had very poor experiences with our 1st attempt to get a Apricus certified plumbers ( tried two) to come out and determine the cause of the water coming out of the manifold after the frost and 3rd time lucky with Simon. Simon was awesome with his responsiveness and dealing with our stress of the situation. He assessed the situation and advised that the frost had caused the manifold to crack and that the root cause was that the previous plumber, while assessing another issue we had 12 months ago had left the plug unplugged, causing the manifold not to cope with the frost. After capping off the running water, Simon urgently took it upon himself to notify Apricus of the issue and like any Company that stands by their product, they offered to replace the manifold at their cost even though it was out side of warranty, considering the circumstances. Thanks Nick... outstanding service not being black and white on the problem considering the fact that it was out of warranty. We really appreciate it :). So from our perspective, the key to getting the most out of an investment like this is to find a great plumber that knows the system, and as an owner, learn to understand the system indicators (which we didn't) and deal with a company that is not black and white on warranty issues when the circumstances warrant it. The product is an excellent product and has saved us big $ on our electricity bill. Rick
A problem but great recovery service
After 6 years the system sprung a leaky through a faulty manifold, probably not unexpected in the below zero Canberra winters. Obviously I was not happy but the service by Apricus in providing a replacement manifold, despite me not being able to provide the exact proof of purchase normally required, was exceptional. They very quickly assessed the problem, accepted responsibility and provided a replacement. Very happy with that outcome.
Free from the sun???????
I was one of the very first people to purchase an Apricus hot water service in Hervey Bay back in 2009. My gripe, is that while they say "free energy from the sun;" the very truth is, that there is always a hidden cost to these systems. Nearly Two years after installation, my solar pump died, and I rang the installation electrician to get a new one. BLOODY HELL!!!!! A replacement unit cost me a total of $625. Not what I was expecting. To ad injury to insult, he didn't notify Apricus, and my claim for compensation was refused. (not my fault...). I have decreased the load on the unit by switching the pump to the lowest level, and up to now it has been operating successfully for the past few years (fingers crossed): But now the tank temperature is not going to it's max of 70C in the middle of the day,not even reaching 62C and falling off at night to as low as 30C. I assume this has some thing to do with the collector units and heat transfer unit. Now I have to find a "qualified" Apricus agent here in Hervey Bay to check out the heat exchanger unit for me. I calculated out, that if I had kept my original hot water unit, I would have been better off financially on Tarif 3 off- peak, as I am the only one in my house; so it makes you wonder about all this "green crap" and ALL THE ASSOCIATED HIDDEN COSTS including pump replacements. I woukld strongly suggest anybody needing a pump replacement ensure they get an industrial grade pump - cheaper in the long run.
Questions & Answers
Have a 30 tube system, 300L tank, off peak boost, about 9 years old. I felt it was not at efficient as it used to be (only just enough hot water for 4 evening showers, tank water so never long: and I boil the kettle to wash up or there is not enough hot water). I called out our local agent, who after looking tells me there is nothing wrong with it, he just added some paste around the sensors in case the were not conducting properly. Now, a few weeks later, my unit is error coding 55d and there is white stuff coming out of the sensor port. Inlet reading 50 degrees and roof reading 100. Which it is clearly not as it is currently night dark and winter. Clearly there is something wrong with the unit, but it seems to be hit and miss with finding out what the problem is?????? Can you help?
correction, the roof is reading 139 degrees
that is degrees celsius
Thank you for your enquiry. You are correct, there is clearly something not quite right with your system and we would like to help get to the bottom of it.
The error code 55d suggests there is a problem with one of your controller sensors. This, along with the readings you are getting could mean that the sensors are not inserted fully, are faulty and need replacing or, it is possible there is an airlock in the system causing the water to get stuck on the roof and very hot.
Please could you call our Aftersales team on 1300 277 428 or email on firstname.lastname@example.org so we can discuss this matter further with you and help get your system back up and running as it should.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Is there an expected life for the heat transfer paste that conducts the heat from the evacuated tubes to the manifiold? The only info that I can find suggests a maximun of 8 years effective life from the best quality paste. My 30 tube system has been in service since 2006 and after two defective tubes replaced, the system is not performing anything like it was in the first 5 years.
Thank you for your enquiry. We would recommend contacting our warranty team on email@example.com to discuss this matter further. We can have you run diagnostic tests on your system or suggest a service agent to determine whether your heat pipes are working effectively.
We look forward to hearing from you.
