A great addition if you only have a single light fitting in the room to deal with. You can connect it to your existing wiring an presto, you have a combination bright light and a quiet DC motor ceiling fan. It alleviates the necessity of having expensive & often noisy air conditioning. Variable fan speed and a 1,2,4 & 8 hr timer with your remote controller is an absolute treat too. To honour the warranty you have to be, or use a licensed electrician. Also, you may need a timber batten fitted if none near the connection and anchor point.
Fan is very quite had 2 since March 2017 with no problems at all, will never buy a noisy ac fan again. The beep every time you operate the mote lets you know that the fan has received signal.
The fans themselves are reasonably quiet and have a decent airflow
Arlec are however unable, or unwilling to provide the stats (air displacement and noise level)
The unit should be power efficient due to a DC motor and LED light panel, the light is cool white and very bright.
Every time the light, or fan is operated, the unit emits a beep. Arlec has confirmed that this beep cannot be turned off. I have no idea why they chose to make a beeping light and fan, or who would find this acceptable.
The fan speed and operation can only be controlled...via the supplied remote control, they cannot be controlled via a wall switch. A wall switch can only supply/disconnect power to the unit, unless an additional controller box is fitted (the electrician who fitted our fans suggested that these controller boxes cost an additional $70 each). If the remote control stops working, you may not even be able to turn the fan light on, and if that is the sole light in the room... The reliance on a remote control may make these undesirable for tenanted properties
