Arlec Wireless Door Chime DC163

Don't waste your money
The door bell doesn't get a lot of use, but after a few months a visitor alerted us to the fact they got no response when they pushed it. Checked the battery and that was fully charged. LED lit up when the button was pressed, but there was no response from the receiving unit, even when they were side by side. Changed the batteries and re-set the chimes. Still no communication. Sounds like a similar issue to that experienced by the Hobart reviewer a year ago.

Didn’t Work
Bought a couple of months back.
Installed all the batteries, no chime when pressing the button.
Light on the button unit showed it was transmitting, and both the receiver units were working (preset the chime sound on them) but the signal wasn’t reaching them. This was 1 foot apart on the kitchen bench.
Followed the instructions to try & find a different channel about 5 times, but had to remove the batteries from all units each time, and the back on the receiver units was so difficult to remove, I was afraid of breaking it.
Gave up and returned to Bunnings for a full refund.
And then bought the HPM brand - no issues with that, works perfectly!

Basic doorbell
I purchased this unit 2 years ago for indoor use so a convalescing family member could easily alert other members of the household. It worked well in that role.
Requiring it again for the same purpose I discovered it would occasionally not work. I suspect it is a transmitter issue.
The 36 chimes offered is somewhat nebulous as there is little variety and only a few I found to be reasonable. There is no volume adjustment. The receiver uses 2 x AA batteries and the transmitter 1 x CR2032 lithium battery.
As this unit is commonly available e.g. Bunnings and no other reviews have yet been posted I'll assume my problem was an isolated case. I'm giving it 4 stars.
