comfortable. poor quality soles
My husband bought some steel cap work boots which he wore for his full time job and the soles flaked and split after 3-4 months. I bought some sandals which I wore a few hours a week and after 6 months the soles had cracked. After spending a decent amount of money on these shoes I would have expected better. Never again.

Nurse Ascent Avara lasted 9 months
I bought a part Ascent Avara in May 2018, I’m a nurse doing 12 hours shift and these shoes are no longer wearable after 9 months wear. They have a nice look and the non slip effect is handy, but I bought these as advertised for nurses and after 10 years working I’ve never had to replace shoes this quickly. The sole is incredibly hardened and has caused a great deal of discomfort to me post 3 12 hour shifts where I was unable to prioritise getting new ones. On return to Athletes Foot they were excessively pushy that it wasn’t the shoes fault and...
Read more that they are the absolute best shoes. I explained the above and tried a fresh pair in comparison to other brand sneakers; the sneakers won. If the soles hadn’t hardened so quickly I would recommend these shoes but I expect my shoes to last longer than 12 months- if you advertising to nurses they should be made to withstand the long shifts and lots of time on my feet.Hi Marie, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that you weren't happy with the wear of your shoes. The Avara is our most popular nursing shoe and we receive plenty of fantastic feedback about ...
Read morethe comfort and support it provides on a long shift. The cushioning we use in the Avara is the same cushioning used in sports shoes. It is designed to compress on impact to reduce pressure and fatigue on your feet. Due to this, the midsole will compress over time and eventually need replacing. The length of time that this occurs can vary depending on the conditions of use, and it is recommended that you replace your shoes to keep that comfortable, supportive feeling in your legs when you are on your feet all day!Lasted 2.5 months
Spent double for the Ascent Apex shoes for my son and they lasted 2.5 months. The front sole wore away then broke off. No refund from the retailer. Not as great as they sound, warranty not honoured

Boots disintegrated within 3. Worst boots I've ever had. Bitterly disappointing.
Purchased the boots in December on the recommendation of my podiatrist and the retailer, by the end of March, the sole had split and started peeling off. This is a totally unacceptable outcome.
I have worked in the building industry as an electrician for 30 years, and have never had a pair of boots disintegrate so quickly. In my opinion, these are not satisfactory work boots if they can't handle basic tasks for 3 months.
I am now in a position, where in the middle of a health crisis, I have no work boots and limited shops open to find and try new boots - fantastic!
Useless.
Hi Greg,
We are so sorry to see this has happened to your boots. ...
Read more We never want our customers to have this kind of experience. Based on the information you've provided, this sounds like a manufacturing fault with the outsole. Unfortunately, this has been a rare issue with some of our Safety products and based on this we have recently changed manufacturers to ensure this fault does not occur in the future. As per our email communication with you, if you could please bring your shoes back to either The Athlete's Foot or the retail store that was the place of purchase, they will assess the shoes and follow procedures from there. Oxide (Steel) (4E) Black (Male/Senior) - Size 7.5 - fell apart after 15 months
I work as a physiotherapist in a hospital - involves about 10000 steps per day of walking in the hospital.
The outer sole began to crack and chip after 3-4 months. The bottom of the sole fell off after 15 months. I would expect a pair of runners to last longer than that! Do not buy these.
Hi Michael,
I am sorry this has happened, we certainly don't want our customers to have this experience. Based on the information you've provided, this sounds like a manufacturing fault with the outsole....

Im onto my second pair of alpha work boots. Comfortable to wear but both pairs have failed in 5 months with the sole splitting across the ball of the foot. Disappointing considering the price point. Another note, because the zipper runs more vertical than diagonal, or parallel with the laces the boot is harder to put on and take off compared to others on the market. And be aware that unlike every other boot manufacturer in Aus ascent boots are sold in US size not UK so go 1 size up than what you normally wear.
Hi Reon,
I am sorry to hear this, we certainly don't expect our outsoles to be splitting after such a short time. It sounds like there is a fault with the outsole, and I would suggest taking them bac...

Total disappointment Alpha safety boots
I work 12 hour shifts and i am on my feet all day. I bought these boots as they claimed they are safety boots more like sneakers. Plus the name athletes foot you would trust to get it right. How wrong was I. They were the most uncomfortable boots I had ever worn. They were not cheap either.
When I was wearing the boots I could actually feel objects through the boots. Not ideal for working on a construction site.
I cannot comment on the longevity on these boots as I did not wear them long enough.
Dear Sir,
We greatly apologise for the experience you had in our Alpha Safety Boots. We would appreciate the opportunity to remediate the situation....

ADELA Buckle not even 3 terms.
As with Mandy we went with an Ascent shoe this year. My daughter was fond of the flower inner sole and Athletes Foot sold me on the invisible scuff protection. We're had to chuck them part way through term three due to scuffed and damaged toes plus a broken buckel. We've gone back to the Clarke's shoes we were wearing last year for the remainder of this year and will not be making the same mistake again next year. The Ascent runners are AMAZING and will see the year through well and truly. The school shoe is just so disappointing.

What is the warranty on Alpha 2 workboots? I bought a pair less then 6 months ago, both boots now have cracks the whole way across the sole right through to the inner sole. Would this be covered under warranty?
