This was a great washer RIP – Just laying my washer to rest. It lasted for about 15 years. I could probably repair it if I could be bothered replacing the solenoids. After 15 years it was quiet and cleaned well. The failure in the end was that the inlet valves stopped allowing enough water in I believe replacing it with a $200 part would solve the problem. problems in the 15 years were fixed by emptying the coin/paperclip key collection box down the bottom.
Also at 15 years one of the guide springs managed to cut through its anchor. I drilled a new hole and reattached and it seemed fine till the inlet valve went.
Was put onto asko by my mum. would get it again.
I got the silver version. Its a good idea to wipe off any spilled detergent because it stains the silver and theres rust around the edges of the door cover as a result. More from lack of care than a design flaw and could have easily been avoided.
Reliable, a few minor issues and a bit water hungry – We bought this in Q4 2009, have now had it for 10 years. We started out as two adults but have had two babies over that time. Only a few observations - it uses a lot of water on some cycles so we tend to stick to shorter cycles (we are in a low rainfall zone so this is a priority for us), and for a few years now it has been squeaking in… Read more
particular on heavier loads, most annoying has probably been that the detergent compartment rusted about 4 or 5 years in and has needed a solid shove ever since to get it to close. The spin cycle is quite loud but if we shut the laundry door it is fine. We recently had it serviced and the technician (who found many issues with our dryer) couldn't find any problems at all with it even after 10 years of solid use. I won't buy another Asko but only because of the water issue.
Internal leak as well – I have been using Asko appliances for years. I bought this washing machine in July 2009. I have had a technician come out to have a look at the machine as it is out of warranty. He advised me that there was an internal water leak, which could not be detected. He also said it is the third one in my area with the same problem. Same model and same… Read more
year as [name removed] on this page. This really was an expensive mistake. I have tried to contact Asko about this but no care and no responsibility as it is out of warranty. If there is a manufacturing fault in the machine, shouldn't there be some responsibility??
Expensive mistake – Bought this Asko 1/09/2010 with extended warranty so nearly 6 years extended warranty has expired. But I did not expect this machine which I paid $1899 for to break down so soon repairs to cost $950. Have rang and emailed asko numerous times since the 17/6/2016 said they would get back to me to see if they could work out a cheaper repair. Still waiting and waiting.
Internal leak – Have been happy with my second Asko machine (had first for 20 years) until last week. Machine failed and cause is an internal lead which is impossible to diagnose during normal use. Asko has advised I engage repairers at my own expense as machine is outside it's 2 year warranty period. (Purchased August 2009 with Asko dryer.) There is no way… Read more
this internal leak could have been detected during the warranty period. This is a manufacturing fault ex-factory. I am waiting for a further response from Asko, and hope they demonstrate the customer care they advertise as being associated with their reputed top class reliable products. Hopefully they are reviewing my concerns at this time and I am being too hasty in my criticism.
Great machine! – Very happy. Solid, reliable, no rubber or cheap parts.Have had this machine 3 years and it is still reliable.Used daily with 3 children.Far superior to previously owned brands.Have an Asko dishwasher too 19 years old and still going strong Show 2 replies

Good – I'm quiet happy with my machine in the eleven months I've owned it. My washing machine lives in my kitchen which is essentially an alcove in my living room, so its quietness and clean look were important to me. While not silent, it is quieter than most other washing machines I've heard and is certainly much quieter than my old Thor machine. I… Read more
would recommend this machine to others, although if you wash for a tribe of people you might want to consider something bigger. It washes well, it spins well, it is quiet, it looks good. If I put two queen size bed sheets in (admittedly they are very thick hotel sheets) it doesn't wash them well as there isn't enough space.
Terrible – Very disappionted.. Told a full replacement will be coming by repair man. Service people then said can replace part or wait 3 weeks for full replace....... Told about five stories about is happening. I ended up having to chase the contracted repair company. 1 and a half weeks with no washing machine house full of clothes had enough .... WILL NEVER… Read more
