Asko W6884 Eco Questions & Answers
VerifiedI own a W6884 Eco, I’ve had it since 2017 and I’ve loved the machine. I’ve recently replaced the shock absorbers as they were squeaking and sagging. I have started facing a new issue which seems to be getting progressively worse; Whenever I try to power on the machine it will immediately turn itself off again. Sometimes the screen lights up for a second or two, then powers off.. other times it blinks on and off again very quickly. Sometimes it takes over 100 attempts to turn the machine on and get it to stay on. I’m concern is it’s the main control panel as I have heard they are expensive to replace. Has anybody else had this issue?
my washing machine shows water inlet fault anything I can do ? thankyou.
Most likely the valve that allows water in. It turns on and shuts off according to the washer program. They are serviceable but you’re probably best to just buy one from eBay.
The spring loaded catch for the detergent drawer keeps sticking shut so it's difficult to open the drawer. Is there some way to fix this problem?
This was another problem my 6874 suffered from, in addition to rust around the detergent drawer, so I replaced the machine, after the main power switch failed. Sorry, best solution.
Asko program modes are not visible to choose
loving my Asko, as long as I make sure my pockets are empty, the impeller doesn't like screws. Any way, on normal cycle the super rinse light is coming on and the machine sits there trying to drain for hours. I have tried restarting but cannot get the Super rinse light off while set to normal cycle.I can get the door open, clothes obviously not spun as it has been stuck on drain, then restart the machine on a different cycle to finish. Any ideas?
If it is draining OK but the drain pump just keeps running, then almost certainly it is the pressure sensor failing - easy to replace just remove top panel ( 4 screws) and sensor is directly accessible - need a Torx driver to unscrew. There are YouTube videos on this - takes about ten minutes - make sure the machine is unplugged first! part was approx $100 AUD when I bought it.
Power has stopped to AskoW6884ECO, are there fuses or what can be the problem please
Same happened to me! Aust models don't have fuses, only US models. I tracked the fault down to the main On/Off switch being open circuit (knackered). As a replacement control board is approx $700+ and doesn't include fitting, I replaced it with a $860 Fisher and Paykel model.
Hi Michael, please help if you can, My W6884 eco has washed flawlessly for 8 yrs but stopped just before the last rinse cycle and now has no electrics at all. I released the door manually, switched off at the power outlet and let it rest for a short time. I switched the power on again, held the start button for 3 or more seconds as the manual instructs but again no signs of life. have you any ideas what couls be the problem before I have to call a service agent. I am capable of doing simple repairs if I knew what the problem is. The machine only runs about 2/3 times per week. Regards...John H
Hi, mine ran flawlessly too for 8 years and earlier this year stopped mid-cycle. After removing the water (not that easy without flooding the floor) I pulled it apart and found the On/Off switch had failed - no electrics full stop. A new control board was some $560 odd so I replaced the Asko with a F&P. Besides, the powder dispenser was rusting and getting worse each year.
Powder dispenser not closing AskoE6884
powder dispener arent closing
asko replaced mine with a swing out dispenser,no problems now.
my washer has no power do this model have a fuse
There is a reason why a fuse burns out. Be careful to unplug the machine from its power supply. Here is a link from the US version that may be of some help. external link
have a asko w6884 for 8 years only two of us well looked after has just lose power is there a fuse in this model cant find out asko dont want to talk to anyone anymore
My 5 year old Asko W6884 Eco washing machine started making squeak noises when tumbler was rotating during the wash cycle. It sometimes takes up to 30 minutes for the squeaking to start. I replaced the belt but the squeaking continues. Any ideas?
We had a problem with drum noises that was fixed by replacing two balance springs that hold the drum in line. Your problem may be different.
That's a hard one. One of the things to try is, remove the rear panel by removing all the screws, lifting it up and then toward u. May have to remove the water inlet hose. Once removed you should be able to remove the top panel. Make certain you take a picture of the position of the bracket that is laying across the top that supports the top cover as it needs to be placed in exactly the same position. Once all is removed, run the machine and listen to hear if u can locate its source. Sometimes it will be an obvious case, just make certain you do not touch the rear where the belt is located to avoid injury. Its strange that it happens after 30 minutes and I can only suggest that it may be either: front/rear top balancing springs, one of the lower tube hydraulic supports, tube bearing (unlikely). Could be that the drive belt needs the be re tensioned, that easy to do. Anyway hopefully this will help. Regards, JM
The control panel on my Asko W6884 has gone blank and now cannot turn the machine on. However, there are clothes in it and now I cannot open the door as no power. Is there some way of opening the door manually without forcing it to retrieve the clothes?
On the right side of the door the is a small slot. You can push a flat piece of anything that will fit into this slot and push sufficiently enough to release the door. Under the soap holder there should be a plastic piece that you can remove and is intended to be used for that purpose.
You may have to push the inside part of the machine that moves to one side to see and access this slot.
Thanks everyone - done!
Did you find out why all went blank and no power
No, got front circuit panel tested, all receiving power. Still machine not getting power, think from 240v to circuit panel is problem, do you know if there is a power board in there somewhere please
Purchased Asko W6884 Eco in 2012, has been working well except after spinning it tends to get out of balance and I have to re-adjust the clothes to get it working again...Very frustrated with that. The other day there was what sounded like a fuse has burned out. Now the machine is not working at all. Wondering wether I should pay for a service or cut my loses and move away from this band completely. Extremely disappointed that such an expensive unit has only lasted 8 years. This is my second machine already.
Hi, if a fuse has burned out or it keeps on blowing a fuse that means there seems to be a short circuit of some kind. Hard to just guess what this could be. Given the fact you have had the machine for a while, depending on the frequency of your washes, say if doing 1 to 2 washes per day that I would consider cutting my losses and buy another ASKO or MIELE. These are both expensive machines but generally built to last. Especially the MIELE brand. I have used ASKO because in most cases I am able to repair this myself, depending on the problem. No machine will be faultless, no machine will last much more than say 10 to 13 years, sometime depending on the amount of use it may last longer. The out of balance indicates that there is a problem with one or more of the hydraulic suspension drum supports. Easy to replace, but like with all repairers you are at their mercy with any machine, so no repair will be cheap. Having said all that, depending where u are located or if affordability there are options. If you prefer new machine or maybe buying a second hand one. When buying second hand best to see the machine in action, indeed ask many questions. Hope this helps.
Move to another machine. I live in Brisbane and servicing of Asko appliances is pathetic. I won’t waste the money. Since the majority of the Asko is made in Slovakia with a token label “made in Sweden”, it is definitely an inferior product, in my opinion. Would never buy another Asko product. I am a very dissatisfied customer.
Thanks for your advice. I thought the same thing. I brought a Miele 9kg model No: WWG360WCS today. Waiting for delivery. Fingers crossed
The door to my washer will not open. Any help?
When you shift or push the inner suspended part that moves to the left you should see a small slot. Under the washing powder tray there should be a plastic removable piece that u can slide into that slot next to the door. When pushing that into the slot it should release the door. Make certain the water is removed before doing this procedure. Water can be removed by opening the bottom small door where the pump is. Pull away the small rubber hose and place it in a bowl or bucket or wherever you can dispose of the water.Replace that hose back into the door lid part where the hose come from before using the machine again. Hope this helps. Problem, could be the computer PC board (circuit). Is the pump working , because if there is a pump failure the door will not open electronically but only manually. Easy to replace a pump.
How or what causes the water to just keep filling is there a water control or on the front panel When it thinks it has enough water it opens the door SUPRISS Is there something can be done or new one
When machine is first started and filling, water runs out from the bottom edge of the detergent compartment and runs down the front of machine and pools on floor. There doesn't appear to be an obvious crack in the detergent compartment. What is the most likely cause? Robert
The most likely cause will be a split or disconnected inlet hose. Easy fix
Before posting my question as to the possible cause of this leak i removed the top of the washing machine and found all three hoses connected to the detergent compartment to be split free and securely clamped. There was no evidence of a water leak inside the machine. ????
If you still have the original detergent drawer, there was a fault in it and it is not able to handle Australian Water Pressure. If you complain Asko will come and repair it with a new drawer for free to one that does not leak. Fixed mine.
Thank you Susan. I do have the original detergent draw so i will contact Asko. Robert.
My W6884 has started to not complete some cycles. On the whites/coloureds, first time problem, got close to the end and then went back to washing. I interrupted the cycle and spun it dry. It did this again. Then I tried a quick cycle and no problems at all. Next I did a wool wash, again no problems. Thought I'd try a Normal wash, but problem resurfaced. Since then I've done what's mentioned on-line...Power off and re-boot the machine. Don't need to do a wash yet but does this rebooting work? Any other suggestions?
how do I retrieve a button from my washing machine outlet. I cannot remove the plug. it unscrew but does not come out
Turn anti clockwise until you are sure it is not still screwed in and pull hard. It will come out
Thank you! I’ll give this a try tomorrow. Carina (not Gigi) I’m her mother
why does water leak from detergent draw at times?
The first thing to check would be that the detergent has not dried out and is impeding the water flow. Next, check that water is flowing into detergent tray and not spraying. If so, might be a leaky join.
thank you for replying,no its not dried out detergent & the water is flowing correctly. The water leak/over flow of approx 250ml - 500ml seems to come over the top of the draw it has only done this a few times in approx 15 months. Is it possible there`s maybe too much in the machine? many thanks Mark
Our machine has a Water Outlet Fault. Its half full of water and wont drain (I have tried the drain cycle a few times). Hoping Michael is still active and can advise - is the only option to call a technician? Or can we do anything ourselves?
Have you opened the small hatch at the bottom to drain water out?
We havent tried because the manual says drain first. But the Drain function is not working. Theres at least 1/3 of a drum of water in there still!
My machine has the same issue as George's.
