Doesn't do what it's supposed to
Bought as a replacement for a Kreepy Krawly which we'd had for over ten years and which still did its job effectively up until the day it was replaced - even with bits fallen off and loose!
The Bolero on the other hand has not do its job effectively since day one. The head does not move at all on the low and middle pump power settings, which kind of negates the purpose of having a power efficient pump. Running on the highest power setting it will move around the pool but the diaphragm clogs up too easily, if you have plants that drop seeds or ...
Where do I start with this one?? I bought the Bolero new from a reputable pool shop, thinking that something from AstralPool would be quite good and marry up nicely with the other pool equipment from the same company. Wrong! This thing has been a complete nightmare from the start.
The Bolero cleaner head would get stuck in the corner of the stairs and would require constant supervision. This was the main problem and despite how often I would recalibrate the hose weight and disassemble the head unit, I would experience the exact same problem ...every clean. The functionality of wheel deflector would often be counter productive - usually contributing to the unit getting stuck and the balance of the head unit would be incredibly difficult to get just right. The flow valve would be the constant pain in my backside as once the correct suction was established, it would quickly become clogged with leaves, resulting in maximum suction. I am happy to admit that this was probably my fault as there is no leaf guard leading to the skimmer box but it was frustrating all the same. The cleaner hose would frequently become clogged with leaves and collapse - adding pressure to the pump and requiring constant unblocking. I would be forever having to babysit this device which is essentially the opposite of the purpose of the cleaner. I have been a pool owner for many years and have a very good understanding of maintaining my pool. This thing, with all sincerity has been an absolute nightmare. Before I conclude this review might I just add that it is the first review I have ever written. I might also add that I vary rarely complain about a product or service that I am disappointed with. Unfortunately, this product was so bad I would be doing the pool industry a disservice if I were to allow a paying customer.....with the dream of maintaining a clean pool, to make the same mistake I made when I bought the Bolero by Astralpool.
worst pool cleaner ever!!
Bought the bolero as it was recommended by our pool shop, they are an Astral dealer. The bolero pool cleaner very seldom works unlike the Kreepy that it replaced, The diaphragm is easily blocked with small leaves or seeds and it just sits on the bottom of the pool and does nothing. For me I would not purchase this cleaner but spend the extra and get a decent Kreepy Krawly!!
This product came free with my new pool and is amazing at cleaning everything. Sometimes gets stuck on awkward sections of wall but other than that a good product. I would recommend this to anybody with a liner or fiberglass pool in need of an inexpensive yet effective cleaner .
Reliable, Easy to assemble and set up
Sometimes gets stuck
