High quality games focused computer monitor
The PG279Q I received was new and box was sealed with ASUS tape. The monitor build date is October 2015. The monitor came pre-assembled with stand and it was simply a matter of lifting the unit out of the packaging and remove screen protector.
After setting up monitor it was checked for back light bleed, dead pixels (none), and bright pixels (none). BLB was minimal and compared favourably to my existing TN LED monitor.
The colours are vibrant and the quality of the anti-glare coating is excellent. I turned the brightness down to approx. 6...0% as it is set to 100% default. Some slight adjustments were made to RGB values but out of the box the monitor is almost perfectly calibrated. The selection of on screen menu items is very easy and the monitor features a mini-mouse stick on the rear of the panel which makes selection of menu items painless. The adjustable monitor stand is excellent. Height, tilt, and rotation are very easy to adjust. I tested the monitor with Fallout 4, Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Just Cause 3, and The Witcher III. G-SYNC was on, driver set to 120Hz, and VSYNC turned off. Excellent framerates and no pixel lag was evident. My only negative is the high price of this monitor. Make sure you absolutely need G-SYNC as it does add to the overall cost. Having said that the G-SYNC function is excellent and a game changer for smooth animation regardless of the framerate.
