A Shocking Car Rental Company!
i regularly rent car for my bushiness and this is the worst rental company. a liitle bumper bar accident hit by someone else, i paid access fee to return back later on, its been nearly 2 years ,nothing, their insurance company hasn't got any phone number and responding to emails by a rude person..
The are a bunch of scammers .
I hired a car from atlas melbourne through a 3rd party discover car rentals . I had full insurance. While driving at night a kangaroo hopped in front of me and damaged front corner of the car. I rang the atlas emergency number and was told to call a tow truck company to get the car back to atlas yard . I payed $400 to the tow truck company and when the towy got there it was closed. Next day spoke to manager at atlas and was told that it will be quoted so I can give papers to 3rd party. Was told papers will be sent to my email. A month later wh...ile I was at my bank I noticed that atlas car rentals have taken just under$4000 plus $1000 plus $500 And $400 for the tow truck I was fuming. I call atlas to tell them what's with them taking money fro. My account and manager promised me it's all good and that IL get evry cent back. It's been 11 months with emailing them every month with no reply back. Even discover car rentals told me it atlas that took ur money not us . If any1 can give me advice on what to do about getting my money would be much appreciated.
Worst experience ever!!! Charged Credit Card after without invoice and closing the account!!!
I was told that there are known damages under the car, which I clearly didn't go down and look at. It was agreed that they will not worry too much about it.
The car got further damage due to original impact where I had no clue what was it all about.
I went to report the issue(during the rental period), they said that's it's my fault and shouldn't have accepted it, the same man who told me about the damage a day back.
Had ZERO damage insurance, which clearly doesn't cover the under body damage.
So now, it clearly became my issue.
I paid AUD 1600...
Company went out of business and didn't let us know!
The company went out of business 3 weeks ago but we only found out by calling them when we were already in front of their office to collect our car...
Cheap but don't deliver the service
Very poor customer service. Booked a 5 door car described as a Kia Rio or similar and got a 3 door suzuki swift. Lady pushed us out the door as fast as she could as they were about to close after trying to get me to pay for insurance when I had already paid for this on line and she knew this. No instructions given on the vehicle so we spent ages trying to get out luggage out of the boot. She then abused me when I called to ask how to open the boot - said only an idiot wouldn't know that you push the fob remote twice to get the boot to open. We ...own 4 cars all different makes and not one works this way. Next issue was the toll road by Brisbane. I couldn't get it to load the car details on line so had to do it by phone with LINKT Brisbane who gave me a reference number to give to Atlas Cars on the Gold Coast in case they sent them a bill.. The same lady abused me again when I rang her with this reference number but she rang me back the next day to say that there had been an issue with the computer system at LINKT as someone else had the same issue. The final straw was a $60 charge on my visa as LINTK did contact them and Atlas charged me that amount to forward them my address. Once I sent LINKT Brisbane a screen shot of my visa statement they reversed the charge but 3 emails to Atlas have been ignored even though they had the reference number that they said they would send to LINKT Brisbane if they did receive notice from them. I had to email Atlas via yellow pages and flexicars as nowhere on their wedsite could I see an email contact. This screams dodgy to me now in hind sight. I have used other companies when hiring cars before on the gold Coast and they all had fantastic customer skills although the cars were older. If I had to book with Atlas again or catch the train/bus I would choose the train/bus as the woman as Atlas cars very rude and obnoxious and ruined our holiday. NOTE: The car was lovely to drive albeit a 3 door when we booked a 5 door my big issue was the lady we dealt with and the fact that she failed to lodge the reference number for LINKT payment for our toll road trip on our account when she said that she would and they have since ignored all emails about this
Car not road worthy
My family rented a Toyota camry from Atlas whilst in Melbourne. Had scratches, dents and an orange liquid stain on the front passenger side. Front tyre burst and Roadside assist had to come and fix it. Mechanic said that the other tyres were not road worthy. I had my kids in that car and it had been raining. We nearly missed our flight back and they didn't care or offer any help. Be really careful. Rego- 1ky 2bu is not safe
The most shocking car hire experience ever! Be warned not to dare hire from this company... unless you love pain.
The customer "service" was non-existent. I had to wait an hour and half to even get served at the counter. This made me late for a day's business appointments and I had to cancel 3 appointments, which were critical to my business day. When I asked the attendant if the service could be faster, he just shrugged and said: "It is was it is." People in line with me were taking photos of the queue which was out onto the street and not moving. When I eventually got to the counter I tried to be genial and said this must be the most stressful job ever...... again the attendant just shrugged and said: "Do I look stressed to you?!" He simply did not care. When I eventually got my hire contract, I had to take a really shonky lift to the 9th floor (one door of the lift did not open or close!) Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse... the car was filthy and was not full of fuel, so I had to waste more precious time getting fuel for the car. Simply atrocious, an absolute waste of my time and precious day...
Car is very old 13000 kl petrol was not full when I took the car a lot of noise in the steering wheel
Car with full of scratches especially on the back
The car was not full of petrol and asked me to return at the same level which was impossible
High kilometres 130000
this is a scam company do not hire from them
Scam do not hire from them will take your money for access and will never go back,
Run run they are scammers cheating doggies very poor and low quality people do not hire from them ,
Dissatisfied with many aspects
The shuttle was very much delayed at the start. The bond scheme is exorbitant compared to other companies. The vehicle was damaged and seemed to be poorly maintained with a few issues during the hire. I normally use others and will continue to do so based on my experience.
Car condition was not good
Booked a full size car. Got a Toyota Camry but the car was more than 120000 kms driven and also it was very dirty and smelling like fish. I had to open the window for atleast an hour to remove that smell. Brakes were making sound.
Dissatisfied with customer service
We hired a car in Brisbane as a result of my husbands mother being gravely ill. During the time there she died. Weeks later I noticed a $55 charge on my account without any clarity who it was from. Eventually I worked out it was Atlas. I contacted them and got a very vague message that I had to ring someone in the toll area. When I asked for clarification they advised it was a toll fine. On further discussion they advised its up to the person renting the car to organise their toll card. I responded by saying they could have told us when I hired...the car. Then I receive an invoice plus an attachment from the toll company for another amount. It appeared to be the same item and since Id already been charged thought it was paid. Then I received another invoice for $52 a week or two later which was the toll company charge. $107 dollars later Im pretty annoyed. Terrible customer service, sneaky. As there is no complaints line Ive added my complaint here. Seriously the death of my mother in law was sad enough without this bad taste left in my mouth. Wont ever recommend them to anyone. Kerri
Filthy interior, poor customer service.
The customer service, except the guy how drove me back to the airport, was mediocre at best. When I got into the car which had just been “cleaned” I had to stop and get something from my luggage to cover the seat as it, and all other upholstery in the car , absolutely filthy. The dirt was so deeply engrained it made the seats feel sticky. Given this experience I would never consider using this company again.
Arrived at the airport thinking I could get in the car and go. No sorry, had.to telephone them, wait for the shuttle bus, get on the bus to go to the depot off site from the airport. Then find out the Kia carnival I had booked had been superseded with a Hyundai Imax vehicle that was hardly roadworthy. As I'm about to drive out one hour after I'd arrived there was just over a quarter of a tank of fuel in the car. Spoke to them, yeah sorry about that. Make sure it's at that level or better when you return it. Returning the vehicle I got questioned why I had not filled it up. Luckily I took photos of the fuel level and Speedo on pickup. I rent regularly but won't be renting through these guys ever again. A disappointing experience.

Atlas Car Rental? - Never Again!
I booked a Toyota Corolla sedan, but on arrival was offered a European compact that, in my opinion, was not in a good shape. So I requested to change to a Toyota Camry at higher price on the spot.
The Camry interior was dusty and had a strange musty smell. There were cobwebs around both wing mirrors. Looked like the car was not properly or deeply cleaned regularly as cobweb takes time to form.
2 weeks after I returned the car my credit card was billed another $55 that up to now I have not been advised what it was for. Only after the rental t...hat I read reviews they have a habit of tagging on charges on the slightest excuse or reason after the rental and do not responses to follow-ups. Wish I had read that before the rental. This was the first time I rented from Atlas to check them out. They did not meet my expectations and I will certainly not use them again.
Car in unsafe condition
I hired the car at the start of school holidays in Queensland. The car I booked was not available?! They dug deep to find the car they gave me. I complained about the dents and another car was provided. It had been through some rough treatment in its days. It wasn't till I was on the highway that I discovered the suspension was shot. This was an unsafe car. Shocking. Dodgy Brothers.
Will not hire from here again
Bond payment to long nearly all other hire companies back within 2 working days cars are not up to scratch first car chip in windscreen 2nd air did not work 3rd one light did not work 4th car great.

Dangerous And Uncaring
I feel really sorry for the guys who worked at the place I got the car from in Preston because the head office jokers totally threw them under a bus – would you believe it, they gave me a car with NO REGO. The car was not registered. Let me repeat that: the car was not registered, which is completely illegal, and which also means that if my passenger or I had been hurt, insurance wouldn't have covered it. We found out cos we got pulled over by the cops, who could see on their computer that the vehicle wasn't registered. They kept us at the side...of the road in the middle of nowhere for almost two hours about 100km outside of Bendigo on the Robinvale side. Somebody in a call centre in maybe India made us wait there for hours until they sorted out the registration and we were able to legally drive. The result is that IU missed a meeting and lost a $10K contract for my business. Thanks atlas - not. Worst company ever, avoid avoid avoid avoid.

When we booked we clearly stated we were arriving at 5.45 pm. Booking was accepted. No one contacted us after that. We found out on arrival the office closes at 5 pm and got recorded messages. No way to talk to anyone and no way to get our car. We had to take a taxi to our friends place at A$80!!! Next day at 9 am, yr office told us car no longer available!
Filthy Car, No tire pressure, Not punctual
The car was filthy inside and out. Thick layer of dirt on the exterior and the inferior reeked of cigarette smoke. Tire pressure light came on immediately after turning on the car upon receiving the keys. I had to wait 40mins to receive the same dirty car except they filled the tires. I emailed a complaint and followed up multiple times because I received no call back. It took 13 days to get a proper email response which simply said my email would be forwarded along. I then emailed a response with a complaint about how long it took to reply. Fi...nally another 2 weeks later I received 1 day reimbursement. I rented for 3 days an offensively smelling, dirty vehicle in which I was only compensated 1 of those days. Unacceptable. I would not recommend Atlas to anyone.

Dispute transaction with your bank and complain to every consumer protection organisation in Australia
Like you Atlas has taken my money and continues to take it periodically without my prior knowledge and absolutely no indication of why they have taken it. They just deduct $55 (twice) from my account for a $3 toll that I had already paid. They claim it's an administration fee for forwarding a letter I have never even received. I am also working on a complaint to the ACCC. If anyone is interested in a class action against Atlas's then please let me know.
Got my security deposit back. Went to our bank who suggested that we go to the one near us .We did and after showing them the bank papers ,they couldn't be more helpful. Got my security deposit back within 5 days. That was a suprise but a good one. Hope this helps you.
