Prices poor, delivery and notification great.
OZ Post are getting pricey. It's becoming a case of allowing competition to creep in just based on their escalating prices. Mismanagement or a money grab?
Fortunately their delivery and communication/tracking makes it somewhat forgivable as they've never lost something (for me) and their notifications are great.
Slow delivery but doing their best under trying circumstances
At the moment Aussie Post are being hammered with increased demand as everybody is sitting at home ordering stuff online. At the same time they CANT increase their staff numbers in the parcel centres due to Covid19 social distancing restrictions. Everybody who is saying they are making "huge profits" and not delivering needs to think of this. Sure they are being inundated with parcels, BUT other parts of their business have collapsed. Letter volumes were in freefall before the virus, and with business's closed that has only got worse. Othe...r profitable serivces like passport interviews have also collapsed, as the borders are closed and nobody can leave the country. I dont work for Aussie Post, and have experienced delays myself recently with mail and parcels, but everybody needs to understand they are also doing it tough like everybody else. Austalia Post is a governement business enterprise (they are not govt funded), they need to earn their revenue to survive just like every other private business, they are not the public service. Postal workers are some of the lowest paid of all public sector workers, they are doing their best under trying circumstances. Everybody getting on here complaining that "their" parcel is late, needs to understand that their parcel is not the the only one in the system. Next time you visit a post office, thank your local Aussie Post staff for doing a good job under trying circumstances, because they are.
Based on the facts ( comments here and my personal opinion ) I bielive that some of the local courier companies around Australia, simply work by their own independant standards, which are in many cases below reasanable normal, and obviously beyond control from Australia Post. That is wrong and unacceptable because not everyone receives the same kind of service which always should be GOOD ONE !!!. In my area I have experienced good service and bad one living here for 27 years, and now I understand why : simply because the courier drivers or the...courier companies are different from time to time that are subcontracted by AustPost. But whoever does the delivery it should not reflect on service standards that should be unified, applied and followed to courier companies all over Australia !! My general opinion covers the 27 years of me living here in Rydalmere NSW and dealing with AustPost services, so I rated the service 3 stars ( OK ) and for the last 3 month I have been happy with the delivery standards so I would rate it 4 stars ( GOOD )

Good service for the price
Inconsistent delivery speed. Two parcels were dispatched at the same time but one arrived 5 days later than the other. Tasmania seems to have a long delivery time from the mainland. Takes 7 plus days. Strangely, overseas parcels can get here quicker than domestic on good days. On bad days, it takes months. Pick up is hassle if the local post office is not open outside business hours. They compensate with a pick up service from 7 am at the back door. Very friendly and helpful staff.
It’s good, then it’s bad
First up Parcel Locker is great, having used it for the first time i wish i could use it all the time. The pro’s: convenient, easy, 24/7. The con’s: Most online stores don’t advertise who their delivery partner is, and as you can only use AusPost to deliver to Parcel Lockers you end up getting parcel post and then comes the next problem ..
The local Post Office is no longer open on Saturday mornings. 9-5 Monday to Friday is really not convenient, unless you happen to both work and live near your PO.
So much potential, let down by these small, yet large, issues.
Wanted to say.. your service was once very good, can we get back to that? I'm sorry AP, for me it's better to use a courier mostly. 'Cos letters disappear into your system for a week at a time.. Express Post isn't that .. your couriers don't seem to even ring the bell sometimes. When I contact the local distrib, no-one knows what is happening .. really? So when things improve I'll be back :)
Had a parcel shipped from Vic to Sydney. Somehow the parcel ended up in Darwin for some unknown reason. Parcel eventually arrived but it took 3 weeks to get here.
Questions & Answers
I have a postage package that was expected to be delivered on the 6th or the 7th of April and I can see it has been sitting at Strathfield since then. When can I expect delivery of this parcel?
I'm sorry that TMP1969000403003756078094 is taking longer than expected to get to you.
Looking at our current delivery time frames to you from WA, tomorrow would actually be the expected delivery date when counting from posting, and when counting from the last scan, it would be the 14th, so it shouldn't be long now.
Hi, my tracking number is 33LMN500701701000931508, I haven’t received an update since Thursday 1 April, can you please advise the status of my delivery/ETA?
Delivery between Vic and Qld is currently taking between 1 and business days, so the expected delivery date for 33LMN500701701000931508 would be any weekday between now and the 13th.
i have a parcel that left Sydney West on 24 March 33FJV155258901000930309 which appears to be still in transit to Perth WA on 31 March. Is there any update on this item (which is a birthday present..)
Our website is currently advising most parcels from NSW to WA are arriving within 6 business days but to allow up to 8:
Looks like it has arrived at a local delivery facility in Perth today so hopefully you'll see it out for delivery shortly. It does look like it may be going to a business address though and businesses may sometimes have alternative delivery arrangements in place such as diversions to a PO Box or something like that. In these cases, there may be a mail courier service who brings mail to the office so depending on their pick up schedules, delivery time can vary.
If you're not sure what kind of delivery arrangements are in place for this address, I'd recommend speaking with whoever at the business does handle the mail arrangements.
