Insufficient after sales service
Pity no one to service it in WA
Eventually sold mine in frustration. Premier Avan service in WA is not worth a mention. Had van out nine times in total for warranty work, fixed last problem myself and sold van. Now have a Kokoda and happy as.
Purchased in April 2019 for $46,000.00.
We bought our van in 2017 new. We like the size and facilities for the price. We had a lot of trouble towing it with a Ford Everest but eventually sorted it out. The Tare mass that was stated was 1365 kg this proved to be very inaccurate as when we put it on a weigh bridge (completely empty) it was 1540 kg. As the ATM was 1665 kg this gave us 120 kg to fill our stuff with. The van was re-certified at 1840 kg ATM. We weighed everything we has put in the van at 265 kg and when you fill up the two 95 L water tanks she now weighs 2020 kg, as this i...s illegal we can not use our Avan for Free camping. We are disappointed as the sales team knew what we wanted to do. I have worked out that with the removal of one gas tank, the entire rear bumper and one water tank we can travel with some water aboard. Such is life. My advice would be to check you weights before you hand over your cash.
Purchased in May 2017.
Brought it second hand from a dealer who said it was fully serviced!!!! Not enough or poor quality wheel bearing grease had to replace all bearing due to overheating, Grey water floods shower recess. Low internal water pressure unless you use the pump as well. water leaking from under sink, clip hadn't been tightened. Support leg on awning won't hold up have to use a wooden dowel. .Flyscreen and shade cords broken on front window. Lucky i'm a retired fitter and have fixed it myself, didn't have much pleasure from the dealers. So just be warned the if you buy one second hand this is what you can expect...
Disappointing quality control and after sales service
Picked up new Aspire 555 in Aug 2016. 1st night had a bad water leak under sink, next day returned to dealer where leak was fixed but in process of doing repairs to water pump under bed, the bed strut seized and when bed was returned to flat, the fixture anchoring the strut to the bed broke away from timber frame. Water inlet cover on external van wall will not close, table too close to seat - I'm skinny and have to hold my breath to get behind the table, upholstery pattern on seat back not aligned horizontally and door trim is too short leavi...ng a gap. Have been trying to get the dealer to mail me a new strut but after four weeks of phone calls, no success. So in summary love the design, the value and the towing ability. Don't like quality control and dealer after sales service.
Unroadworthy? - lack of dealer action
Quality is hit and miss. Cupboards that refuse to close, windows that won't stay open, table pulled from wall when lent on to close window; and a shower that refuses to drain properly. In April, found out now caravan is technically unroadworthy; off road adventure pack has on road wheel tubs - wheels have worn out both insides of tubs and rubbing on top of tubs. Tyres are as specified on the caravan VIN . Rubbing temporarily fixed by dealer, but its now been 3 months waiting for new tubs to arrive and be retrofitted; also whilst driving on ...bitumen after temporary fix, front window shades fell off. I suspect the temporary fix is by installing spacers which are illegal in SA. Calls to dealer have same excuse, parts ordered and will be on next deliver,y will ring back and confirm. No one has called back as yet. New excuse now I expect is that dealer is tied up getting ready for next caravan show. There's more to list but not enough space!
having trouble getting parts
We have been waiting over 4 months for our camp room which should have been with our Aspire 555 when we picked it up. Every time we contact the dealer its just one excuse after another. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you solve your problem. So far the care factor is zero
Few issues with Avan 499 Aspire
Fly screen (door drops off runner.)Poptop material comes away from top liner in places.Sink flows into shower base (remedy was to cut drain and have seperate flow for shower and sink). Shower exhaust fan cover stuck to rubber seal. Not happy. Not much or little response from A-Van about these issues.
its ok , I'm a bit of a handy man .
Pick up 499 pop top in Jan 2014. Read all the complaints that go back3years or so and you guessed it nothing has been done to fix the problems. water from sink floods toilet floor, roof sags on back corner, stairwell light not working , the van it's self is a little to low, you have to be a body builder to raise the roof , I put a baggage door road side to give access under bed , drop down table and rear poll carriers,

Picked up our van from avan Windsor gardens. Front window leaks, water ingress
Via rooftop aircon, that solved temporarily by pulling the top down a few inches at

Avan 525 aspire poptop
I bought this van 3 years ago at the penrith caravan &camping show, took 3mths to build which was fine, pickup was ok but only just, because u c I had already paid for it,asked how we liked it,said ok if it was as we ordered it,it had no mirrors on wardrobe doors, they said it doesn't come with them,we ordered it as the one at the show took photos,so they agreed, after about 6mths ceiling started to peel & shrink up,took it back & arranged to get fixed, took it back on arranged date, parts hadn't arrived, took another 3weeks for parts to arrive, told th...em front boot leaks in rain, sales said can't fix, they all leak, fixed it myself.i have added several extras myself, been on a few trips, love the van especially the camp room, only problem too low to ground, have been told to put axle under springs.Otherwise happy, don't know why caravan manufacturers only put 12 months warranty on there products, can't think much of what they produce!
Aspire 525 Leaking front window
We bought our 2011 Aspire a few weeks ago and loved it until today - Heavy rain and it leaked quite badly in the front window- now need to try and work out how to stop the leak before it damages everything.
We also changed the Prostor awning after reading other reviews about them not lasting in strong winds.
Excellent van but poor worksmanship
We left Hobart and collected our van from the factory in Oct. 2012 as previously arranged but it was not ready. The only problem found externally has been a very loose boot surround but the internal has glue smears in several areas, exposed pencil marks, broken seat top (under cushion), plastic trim twisted , broken and not following the contour of the cupboards at floor and ceiling, drawer falling off tracks, cupboard doors not aligned and jamming, microwave poorly fitted within cutout, bed framing loose.
Our excellent Tasmanian Dealer has...repaired a few problems and I have also sorted a few but most issues are cosmetic and cannot be "repaired". I cannot remove the glue and pencil marks as the thin paper veneer will not stand too much rubbing or chemicals. I contacted Avan management after our shakedown trip in early November but they have totally ignored my correspondence, I have sent a further letter in January but don't expect a reply. We love the van but there are so many cosmetic defects caused by poor quality control that it feels like a reasonable second hand van. Very disappointed. Design, compact size with ensuite, looks good, easy clean aluminium Poor worksmanship and warranty service
Questions & Answers
how comfortable and practical is the double bed since of its odd shape mattress? also are the bunks long enough to fit grown ups?
Aspire hard top 563, 2013 model
Brake lights dont work and definately getting power from car.
Avan tells me there is a fuse box for those lights but it simply is not in the van. I think it may rely on car fuses. What can I do to fix the fault?
Hi, I have an Avan 555 Aspire. How do I remove the microwave. I can't see any way of getting it out. There doesn't seem to be any accessible mounting screws but it is very solid so must be mounted in some way?
