Not good if you have any back or shoulder soreness – This carrier has no waist support so it puts all the weight of baby in your shoulders and back. Not good if you are prone to back soreness. It is very compact and easy to use if you aren't concerned with back & shoulder pain though. I'd suggest to any new mums to look at a carrier with waist support

Fantastic support when baby is little – I was lucky enough to be given a hardly used BabyBjorn Original Classic by my aunt - and it wasn't because she didn't like it, she just didn't end up using it very frequently as was home a lot, and her baby was a great sleeper! So I didn't have to do much of my own research into baby carriers, but what I had read seemed like this was worth a try.… Read more

It's been so fantastic! When my baby was little, I was a bit concerned that her head was so low, she wouldn't be able to breathe - she was fine, but just to be safe, I rolled up a muslin cloth to put under her chin so it kept her head a little more raised and allowed easy air flow. As she got bigger, it wasn't necessary, and she always had her longest sleeps in the carrier. When she reached about 7 weeks, she started catnapping, and this was when I really fell in love with the BabyBjorn! After her 40 minute nap, I'd take her from her bed and put her into the BabyBjorn so she could go back to sleep and I could get on with lots of tasks or go for a walk. It's so comfortable to wear and when they are little, you just don't feel like you are carrying any weight! As they get older, it can feel a bit sore on your upper back if you're holding them for extended periods of time, and doing jobs around the house as you have to reach your arms further out from your body where they are not as strong. I would definitely recommend this carrier to other parents, it's made my life so much easier!

Great for me and baby – I purchased the Baby Bjorn original when my daughter was about 3 months old. When bub was so young, I used to place her facing inwards and also used the soft head and neck support. When needed the head and back support easily folds and can be clipped back so it's not in the way. What I loved about this carrier is the fact that babies, when ready,… Read more

can be placed to face outward so they can gaze at the world. It was really easy to put bub in and out, I could do it with no aid and it felt comfortable on my back and shoulders (I am fairly petite and my daughter was a pretty big baby). My daughter also looked very comfortable and she was very happy in it. Baby Bjorn is made of cotton and no toxic colours or substances were used, which is definitely a relief! It's also very easy to wash, gentle cycle in the washing machine, line dry and it's good to go again. The only 'con' is that I live at the tropics - Baby Bjorn was perfect in the cooler months, but during the tropical summer my daughter would get a little sweaty in it. To fix this, make sure you dress baby down and take him/her out the carrier to cool off sometimes if you are spending a lot of time in the heat. Comfort (both me and baby), easy to wash, versatile A little thick if it's very hot outside

Great if status is more important than safety – This is a great carrier if, like the previous reviewers, you have no respect for your baby's comfort or development. This carrier doesn't support baby's legs, and puts their back in a bad position. I tried this carrier at a friend's and there is no ergonomic support for the wearer, so it would be hideous carrying a baby over 6mths. No provision… Read more

for back carry.

If you're thinking about this for you and your baby, do two things first...

1) Stand on one leg, lift the other up and place your hands under your knee. Put all your weight on the raised leg, and slowly move your hands back towards your upper thigh, continuing to put all your weight into that leg. The strain you feel is the strain your baby will feel when in the carrier, as there is no support for his legs or back. Alternatively just imagine hanging in the air held up only by some fabric running between your legs.

2) Grab a sack of potatoes and put them in a regular backpack. Wear it on your front, lower than you would normally wear it. This is how you will feel wearing the carrier with absolutely no back support or ergonomic features.

Do some research, parents, and put your babies first... not your wallets or your status hang-ups.

Easy to get on and off – My favourite carrier, only unbuckles from the front so no more trying to undo clips on your back. The straps are not very padded so it can get uncomfortable if you’re wearing it for a long time. Baby deffinately feels very secure, the clips seem very strong and couldn’t accidentally come undone.

Good carrier for around the house – I have used this carrier daily for about 5 months now. Compared to a lot of other branded carriers, it can be used with small babies without the need for an infant insert which is a feature I really liked. There are also less straps to adjust so it is easy to switch between mum and dad. Taking the baby out while asleep and not disturbing them is… Read more

also not a problem because of the simple design. Cleaning the carrier is very easy as it can be machine washed. The only negative I've found with this carrier is that it gets quite tiring on your shoulders after a short amount of time.

Absolutely love this carrier! – Have used this with my son since birth. He was born small & the carrier allows use from 3+kg which was fantastic. As a new mum I was too nervous to use a wrap & this allowed me to have peace of mind knowing his head, neck, shoulders, back & hips were all supported whilst I could still see him with ease. He has been forward facing in it now since 5mo… Read more

& I would highly recommend it. Perfect for both mummy & daddy wear & easily adjusted in a matter of seconds + can be used without help which is a major bonus for a stay at home mum.

Baby can't stand it – This is our first carrier we've tried and bub can't stand it. He doesn't seem to be very comfortable in it. . . . . . . . . Will keep trying but I think we may have to go to something else. Pretty disappointing considering all the good reviews!

not the easies to use – When I purchased it, i had a few issues. once put on and assembled it isn't to bad, but is hard to do it on your own- trying to put all clips in and hold baby at the same time proved to be a little difficult. I always needed some help

It works but I will upgrade next time – This carrier worked great until my daughter was around 6 months old. I used it a lot when she was quite young but as she became heavier the carrier just wasn't suitable for my back anymore. This carrier is inexpensive so I definitely got my money's worth and would recommend it to people needing a super easy to use carrier while Bub is little.

Holds well – Got this from family. My baby is a bit chubby and when she is in winter outfit (2 layers with a thin jumpsuit and a thicker one) , it fits her really well.. She is now 2 months old and I’m not sure how long we can use this. All baby carriers are similar but I always get struggle when taking this off. Need to put baby on somewhere safe. I… Read more

also have a different type of babybjorn carrier. This type is smaller, lighter and easy to carry when I’m not wearing.

Second Carrier of this kind that i own – I love how much different this one is compared to the other that I had. its so easy to put on and take off and my daughter doesn't mind being in it. the older one was had to use and my girls didn't like it. ive used carriers for 4 years now and love them. makes it easy to breast feed while wearing as well.

Use it every day – My baby (currently 3 months old) hates lying flat on his back, and loves to be in arms. This makes life really hard when you want to get off the couch and get some things done. I started using the baby born when our baby was about 4kgs and at first he didn’t love it. I persisted a little bit every day and now we use it daily. If we go to the… Read more

shops, we use the BabyBjörn, if I’m watering the garden, we use the BabyBjörn. We also go for short walks around the block in it. It has been a life saver. The only downside is I can see that bubs is going to outgrow it fairly quickly.

Baby (almost) lives in it! – My daughter (almost) lives in this carrier! I find it to be supportive for her neck and spin and for me I feel that it supports my back well. The carrier is exceptionally easy to put both on and off and all straps are adjustable to suit the person. I would recommend this to anyone

Padded, comfortable, baby feels safe and secure – This is a fantastic, quality product. Baby Bjorn do things v well. It's both secure and comfortable for both mum and bubs and very easy to use. Allows you to be hands free and my baby can't help but settle quickly - actually falls asleep every time I put her in it! Love that

Totally Recommend – I invested in a new BabyBjorn before having baby No. 1 and ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! It was my saving grace when I needed to get things done but bub wouldn't settle. You quickly get the hang of using it. Before you know it, you'll be whipping baby in and out of the sling with your eyes shut. Literally! Hello sleep deprivation! I continued to use my… Read more

BabyBjorn for babies No. 2 & 3 and also lent it out three times to friends with new babies. They also loved it! BabyBjorn is machine washable and can roll up to carry in your nappy bag/ backpack.

Finally after eight years of my BabyBjorn carrying six different babies and hundreds of machine washes, it was still in good condition so I donated it to the nursery room of our daycare. The BabyBjorn wasn't cheap to buy, but definitely one of the BEST things I bought.

Excellent - but only useful for about 6 months – I highly recommend you buy one of these - but look for one second-hand. Our two boys were both big babies so we didn't get more than about 6 months our use from the BabyBjorn. That said, they are a life saver. Our first born settled very well in the BabyBjorn but quite badly otherwise - so we did use it often.

Life's so much easier – My baby suffers bad reflux so I was recommended by the hospital to buy this baby carrier and it's changed our lives! My son loves being carried in this and I take it everywhere I go. School drop off and pick up for his older brother is so much easier and hassle free now and I am so glad I purchased this. Great back support and easy to use. Literally can be done with one hand!

So easy to use – What a fantastic product! I first got a wrap carrier but it was so hard to use because I couldn't wrap it or tighten it correctly! After getting our baby bjorn I've never looked back! Easy to use, easy to wash and great to carry bubs around the house when I need both my hands!! It is very comfortable to wear and my husband can use it too! Would highly recommend!

A great carrier until baby hits about 6 kg – I used this with my daughter from when she was newborn up to around 16 weeks when I had to stop as it was hurting my back. It has been excellent but with no support on the hips the shoulders get too sore once baby starts gaining a bit of weight.

Life Saver – I had such a clingy baby that constantly wanted to be held, I couldn't do anything. Purchased the Baby Bjorn and haven't looked back! So easy to put on and strap baby in, especially when your by yourself! Very comfy and convenient. Can face baby forward and facing you. Easy to clean. Highly recommended!

its an awesome product – It's got a perfect design, easy to use and comfortable for the new born. Parents will love it. I bought couple of other brands for my elder kids in the past few years, but I was not happy with that. Once I started using the Baby Bjorn ,me and my wife completely satisfied.

Good carrier for up to 5kg – Great carrier when baby was newborn facing inwards up until about 6kg (6months). The weight weighs down from the shoulders which means using the upper back to support the load. baby looks like she's got a wedgie and all the weight sits in between her legs. Forward facing flap also keeps flapping up in her face even though the buckles are very… Read more

tight. In all, back support not enough and shoulder straps not enough cushioning. Easy to wear and adjust without assistance even when baby is in carrier.

Hurts my back too much – I borrowed my sister's carrier and am so glad I didn't buy my own. Bub just met the minimum weight specified and my upper back hurt so much that I couldn't use it. I now have a carrier that distributes the weight on my hips and at 6 months Bub is easy to carry. The new carrier also supports her hips more.

Easy to use but painful with bigger bubs – Easy to do up and quite quick and easy. However it's now getting too uncomfortable to wear with my 7.5kg 3 month old. It really hurts my shoulders and has no hip support. Would not buy one again.

Horrible carrier – Lucky for me I bought this carrier secondhand on eBay and it didn't cost me much as it was so uncomfortable that my back was hurting in a few minutes of wearing it. With bub being only 2 months old I can't imagine carrying an older and heavier baby in it. I wouldn't recommend the baby Bjorn carrier at all! I have now ordered the new ergo baby 360 carrier so hope I get a better outcome with it. So uncomfortable for my back

Easy to use and comfortable for baby, but hurts my shoulders – I usually use a Hug-a-bub but found the Baby Bjorn to be much easier to put on and take off when out and about. However, compared to my Hug-a-bub, the Baby Bjorn Original doesn't shield my baby from the sun, and my shoulders start to hurt after a while as all the… Read more

wouldn't recommend – I did not like this carrier at all. You bear all the weight on the shoulders and after a short while it becomes annoying and painful. Much to my surprise the shoulder straps are not padded at all. However I did find it easy to clip in and out and my son was very comfortable in it. Amazing product that I used every day! – After trying out a sling carrier which I found awful for my baby I didn't want a carrier however a family friend bought me a Baby Bjorn Original and I quickly realised it was worth it's weight in gold. hands so I was able to push a trolley, do groceries, hang washing out, take the dog for a walk ect at any time.

I think my son liked having his head up against my chest so he could hear my heartbeat.

Another bonus was my husband could wear it and have that close contact while we were out and about.

The only thing I found was by the time my son was 3 months old I found his weight hurt my back after a while, however he was a big baby and I am quite small. Easy to use, secure for my baby, sent my son to sleep almost instantly - freed my hands up. Hurt my back a bit as he got older and heavier.

Hurts my shoulders – I was given this carrier as a gift, if you have a baby on the larger side of the scale I would probably consider another carrier that distributes the weight. Confused and awkard – Just purchased this and already struggled, bubs is 6 weeks and its uncomfortable and feels like I'm suffocating her against my chest, I researched this one as an insert was not needed though i think it is. hits her eyes. I've adjusted as per manual but no help. This will only work once bubs can hold up her own head which is probably in the next 2 months but that means I will have to look for a sling or something as that seems to be the only carrier that could be used to support her neck with out all the bulky stuff. Best bet is to look for a sling. Simple to clip in a out. Not recommended for newborn, seems suffocating as they cant hold up there own neck as yet.

Total lifesaver! – I couldn't justify buying this product new after the reviews i read on here but found 1 second hand. I also use it at night to help her get of to sleep then unclip easily when she's sleeping and put her to bed.

I am just using the original on loan and will buy a miracle with the lower back support. I figure it's better to have all the support I can get especially as she gets heavier. Easy to put on and take off without disturbing baby, comfortable

Love this item! – I had not considered buying one of these for my baby but was luckily given one from a friend. My husband and I love it! We use it all the time. The colour co-ordinating tabs make it easy to use and do up. My baby doesnt like being in the pram while he's awake, so this is great to go walking in. He usually falls asleep. Also great to do a few jobs around the house. Easy to to use

Useful – Useful and easy way to carry bub for when you are out and about. I always found that both my kids slept better in the bjorn than when we used a pram when we were on outings so we put up with a bit of back strain for a happy baby. though I think their a newer models now that would be more comfortable for mum and bub. Quick and easy Long use can cause back strain
