I’d give zero stars if I could
I have been with this bank several years. I have business and personal banking with them. The service we receive from our local branch is atrocious. This is not my first issue with this bank and I was tempted to change last time. This time I will be moving all my accounts. Banks need to understand they hold our money and they need to meet the service needs of their customers or they will loose them
Home Loan DEAL
Recently switched home loan from CBA to BOM. Right from the start the service from Airport West Branch Ravi has been outstanding. Very happy with the way BOM has organized my finances.
they were open during lockdown, but now they're all shut. Zero, nothing, even the ATM won't take money
we've been out of lockdown 40 days of double donuts, but BOM branches are still closed, so no service, nothing, but they still gouge me with fees, for zero service, and their call centre in the philippines are lovely, but I pay fees for zero service. How can businesses survive, when their bank want /cant take money as they're shut? They safe "we're keeping the community safe", nah, BOM is using covid to shut down iits branches, and save rent, but they still charge me huge fees. Time to change banks. Bendigo bank is a great option, they've been around for 50 years in Melbourne, and they've open branches. not like shut up shops like bank of melbourne
Long drawn out application process
Applied for the BOM Amplify Signature Credit Card at start of Oct 2020. This application went trough quickly without a hitch. Ordered an additional card for the wife, this process has been the total opposite to the initial application. Its been dragging on now for over 10 weeks, no one can tell me what the problem is.
Been told to resubmit application forms as the first one is missing in the system, provided compensation by the customer solutions team and was promised it would be five business days.
Well its's now been over 3 weeks without a re...
I have been with this bank more than 2 years. They are reliable also very professional. Their customer service is top of the mark. Highly recommend to get the service from them.
Kept waiting, disorganised staff
I had made an appointment to see the Chirnside Park Lending Manager, arrived on time and spoke to receptionist. I was asked to sit down and she would alert lending manager that I was there. The branch was empty, not a single other person there. I waited for 30 minutes before i finally lost patience and approached the receptionist again. I went and did my shopping and returned. The branch was still completely empty. Lending Manager said "staff had not entered information into his e-diary properly" but was not apologetic for the wait. He then did...not listen to what I said, confused me with someone else and referred to my "paperwork" (I had done nothing on paper), was dismissive and gave me only partial information. An intending new customer, I will never return to this branch. A poor effort by everyone there.
Best Customer Service and Friendly Staff
If you are a new migrate to Australia, Difficulties with opening a Bank Account or need a friendly and faster service then I am strongly recommending you to please visit the Bank of Melbourne. I had these experiences when I was opening my bank account, I visited twice CommonWealth and NAB Banks but they are not helpful at all.
After a long waiting at both banks, I finally give up on CommonWealth and NAB Banks. Then I went to the Bank of Melbourne, I get surprised how to differentiate this bank from the other two banks.
I was amazed by th...
I mostly use Karingal branch and Springvale or Parkmore and every time I walk in always great service but mostly Karingal branch from day one back in 2008 with our house approved then for our second hand car only 4% and just recently 3 years on our house at 2.28 we walk in and all papers ready to sign was great and all the staff very helpful.
Home Loan process is really bad and error prone
I had refinanced from NAB to Bank of Melbourne since Feb 2020 based on the advice of a NPFS mortgage consultant, the overall loan process then was smooth. However the recent loan application handling has been really shabby and painful where they double deposited the loan amount to me, withdrew it, did not close the previous loan and worse after all the rectification after I had called out they messed up my offset account to normal transaction account thus increase in my repayment fee. Yet there has been no apologies who call from Bank about the trouble, really bad customer experience. I will immediately change the loan once the fixed deposit tenure ends or if other bank can offer better deal.
Great Service at BOM Caroline Spring
I am with the bank for a while. Every staff is friendly, always smile greeting to you when you walk in the branch. I was served by Rebecca who is extremely kind and helpful with all my queries and concerns.
Utterly random credit card pick-up and activation procedure
Both my wife and I applied for credit cards with Bank of Melbourne independently. The approval process was relatively smooth - we were both approved quickly and told to wait for our cards to arrive. Mine arrived in the post about a week later and I went through the torturous process to get it activated and up and running on the internet banking. Three separate pins/passwords to be entered each time I want to log in. Not exactly user friendly but I guess it's secure. So my wife's card still hadn't turned up a week later when we get a letter sayi...ng it's ready to be picked up from the branch in Geelong? Wait, what? You're happy to post my card to our address but randomly you want her to take time off work to go into your branch 20km away and pick hers up? Bit weird and really not convenient for us. But she picked it up (despite waiting ten minutes to be served even though she was the only customer in the branch!) and brought it home - was given a CAN by the teller who also asked her a bunch of weird and unrelated questions at the time. Told her NOT to register for online banking as she's already done it for her - just got to LOGIN and use the CAN to get into the online banking. So we go to LOGIN and enter the CAN but it then wants a pin and a password, neither of which we were given by the teller. Only option is to click 'forgotten pin' and this takes us to a retrieval page. We fill in the details only to be told that we need to enter a valid email address. Which we have. We try multiple times with the same result. So there's no way of getting any further. Quite apart from the disturbingly random different ways that we received our cards we now also can't actually use one of the cards. Totally farcical. Here's a tip for you Bank of Melbourne. If you want people to take up your credit cards then maybe make your process consistent and user-friendly instead of a labyrinth of stupidity. Thank god I don't have a home loan with these imbeciles.
IVANHOE Bank of Melb in the best position in Ivanhoe, moved from ANZ and Westpac to this branch. efficient and helpful
Found Bank Of Melbourne Ivanhoe to be one of the best and efficient branch ever. Moved my account from Westpac and ANZ that are old and dark to this great branch,
Helpful staff that go out of their way. Pity its temporarily closed due to Covid but once things get to normal will start going back. This Branch is helpful, clean and efficient in a great position.
Scammed and still chasing since June 2020
I'm over 10 years with this bank. In June 2020, I get scammed and received a message if I authorized a $246+ debit and said no. They locked my card but somehow still paid the scammer + the dollar exchange cost. I been chasing since and to date nothing happens. I 've been passed around and this covid is not helping as other government offices who deals with my situation are either closed or less people.
Terrible bank to deal with
Because of Covid, I had to cancel my holiday plans. I had paid for meals and some activities using my BOM debit card linked to PayPal. PayPal were understanding of this and refunded me. They did this back in March - April 2020.
However, BOM took forever to process my refunds despite me calling up 5 times already and explaining the situation each time. They still owe me one more refund. It’s nearly the end of September 2020 now and I still haven’t received it.
They also refused to accept my credit card application while I was back at Uni bec...ause I didn’t have a full time job then - this was despite me working 3 casual jobs, which I had for the 5 years with full time hours that I had payslips to back up and having decent savings. But they had the gumption to tell me that if I was on Centrelink, my application would have been accepted because I could show I had a constant source of income. I have since graduated, switched banks, successfully gotten a credit card and taken out a home loan. As technology continues to get better and we get more apps that move away from traditional banking and getting access to credit, I can see that BOM will fall behind and I really hope they do. Seriously, what a disappointing bank!
DO NOT approach for online home loan application at all
BOM is useless helping the customer for home loans. I applied for a refinance, been asked to submit paperwork like normal banks. They asked me to pop-up in the branch for identity verification and then the online consultant disappeared !!!! no email replies, application results in nothing at all. You can't even check with the BOM branch or online chat as they keep saying that another consultant has made an application and there is a lock on it. We cannot access it. you have to do the whole process again if you are interested.
The worse thing i...s they did multiple credit inquiries on my credit files (when they mentioned that unless if we see your application is firm and positive in every aspect we won't make any credit inquiries). That shows that their staff has no integrity and knowledge of what they talking about. Upon complaining about this, my consultant re-appeared after two months that I am missing your payslips (which have been submitted already). Sent them again with employment letter but he did same thing again. It's been over a month and he stopped responding to my emails and phone calls. Bank of Melbourne doesn't even have the courtesy to let the customer know if the application is successful or not. Shame on you guys. I strongly recommend all people out there. Don't use your valuable time with Bank of Melbourne and let them stuff up your credit file. Because it will affect your next shopping.

Not always, I'm still waiting! 2wks Late already! Grrrrrr!!!!! Take a list of this with the answers, as they DO NOT ASK YOU!!! GRRR! But, end of the day, the Staff are nice... It's their idiotic system, They should have a list of queries too!
I am not sure but I would recommend going to Westpac and opening a Westpac Choice Account and a Westpac eSaver account since you get better interest on those accounts.
