Radio silence after being approved for credit card application only to never hear from them again
I applied for a BankWest credit card so that I could use it overseas without fees and so that I could get the cool halo ring. I wasn't approved for their top card but was approved, according to the website, for the mid tier card. The site asked me to submit my payslips so I sent those over immediately. I received an email saying I would get a call or email from BankWest with next steps. And then.... nothing. Today, almost 3 weeks later, I called up to ask what's going on. Apparently they had sent me a letter saying I've been declined. I'm fine...with them declining my application, but why tell me I'm approved if I wasn't? All the info I provided matched the info provided in the application. And why tell me that they will email or call me when all they're doing is posting a letter? In some ways I'm almost glad I wasn't approved if this is the level of customer service. Though I really did want that halo ring!
BankWest Zero Platinum MasterCard
Easy application process for Zero Platinum MasterCard. Very streamline online setup, activation and general login process with detailed terms and conditions. Can't wait to use my card. Zero foreign Currency fee!
Excellent Service and Easy Online Application
This was the easiest application and process I have ever experienced. Extremely helpful people online and excited about my new relationship with Bankwest. I am considering arranging banking for my company and shifting my home loans to them. Keep up the great work!
Should stick to being a local Perth bank
Its bad enough that BW are closing more branches than they are opening in Victoria, but my rent was late due to a "public holiday in western australia" which delayed bpay processing. Come on guys, either remain a location WA bank or get serious about offering a national service.
More interested in new customers than keeping existing
Been with Bankwest for 5 years. Happy enough with the service although very disappointed to find that new customers are being offered a 3.82 variable rate and after 3 calls to their customer retention teams to see if they could offer me that rate the best they could offer was well above this. I don't understand why they would lose a loyal customer only to then try and get new customers at that rate, makes no sense.
I have received the forms required to transfer to another bank and unfortunately now need to go through the process of changing banks. I would recommend bankwest if you can get a good rate but be prepare to change after a few years as they will not match the competition or reward loyalty.
Used to Be Good But Not Anymore
10 years ago when we bought our first house Bankwest were our mortgage brokers recommendation and so we went with them for our mortgage because they had one of the lowest interest rates. For the first few years we had no issues and they were pretty good to bank with, however when Commonwealth Bank took them over everything started to change. Not long after the takeover we changed our home loan to a different product which had multiple offset accounts and a lower interest rate. Literally 2 months after we did that Bankwest decided to start uppin...g our interest rate (3 times in total while there were no reserve bank changes) until we were back just above our old rate. A couple more years down the track and another interest rate increase out of schedule and I had finally had enough. At this same time we were looking to refinance for a knock down rebuild of our house and I'm happy to say that we are no longer with Bankwest and have taken our business to another lender who so far seems to appreciate us much more (Maquarie Bank). I think all banks are greedy and will do anything they can to make a profit, the royal commission has definitely shown how evil they can be, but at the end of the day as consumers we need to stand up to them and tell them if we are unhappy with any part of their service or just take our business elsewhere! And that is what I have done.
I have been dealing with Bank West about a credit card . The service is great. Received personal follow up calls about the progress and information . Very effiecent and professional. Great work BW
Have been with BankWest many years and have always found them helpful and friendly, recently they recovered money for me that I lost in an online scam. Thank you BankWest.
Limited daily transfers and interest penalties
Hero Saver Account interest is lost for entire month when transfers are made. Daily transfer limits of 20,000 unless you can physically access a bank, very limited bank locations, no telephone bank options for greater than this limit. Exiting a Term Deposit early was ok.
Frustration! Frustration! Frustration! ...Please put back some business sense.
Today, 25th July 2018, I went to my Bankwest Bicton branch at 1.25pm to open a Term Deposit, and was told to make appointment to come in at 2.40pm. I was in a rush to meet my other appointment, so I told her I have to go to my other appointment first - For the first time, I was kind of very surprise at the counter person because she could not help me with the Term Deposit. I went back again at 2.40pm and I was sure happy as there are no-one at the counter, I approached the counter which was another lady, which told me that she cannot do the ...Term Deposit for me because now there is only one person who can actually open the account. I told her if these sort of direction the brach manager is taking, I reckons Bankwest will lose out even if they are the only Bank available in Melville Plaza.
Amber - Plenty Valley - AMAZING!
A couple of weeks ago I went into Bankwest to change all my accounts over from one of the BIG 4.
I was promptly greeted with respect and they acknowledged that my infant daughter was sleeping in the pram so I was placed in a quiet room.
The bank consultant Amber was absolutely fantastic. I honestly can't thank her enough for being patient and explaining everything Bankwest has to offer when I go back to work next year.
She was extremely informative, respectful and genuinely wanted to assist.
She set up all my accounts for me then and there and went through the internet banking as well.
She also helped me set it up on my iphone.
She was lovely, thank you Amber!
Must be the odd one out
Been with bank west for business, for few years, and never had an issue. Customer service has always been good, and banking apps have the modern features i.e. Bank mail, scheduled payments, two factor auth, etc. Have a few other products with them too, and the experience with those was good as well.
Terrible customer service
So logging into their online banking system after a long while (I've been overseas), and I couldn't remember my pin number so o called them. I failed their security questions (fair enough) but the lady kept saying "awwwwwwwww" .... I swear to god that sound was annoying me. It is condescending and the last sound you want to hear when you're trying to get things organised. I wish we got our home loan elsewhere....the customer service here is really poor.
I decided to open an online bank account for my business because it has no monthly fees. What has gone annoyingly wrong so far?
- The appointment I made over the phone was not registered in the branch I went to.
- The documentation I needed to take with me to open the account was not given over the phone (luckily I already knew what to take with me from previous experience with other Bank)
- It's been 2 weeks since I opened my bank account and only this week I received the token and card, I am still waiting for the PAN/PIN code. Without thes...
BankWest Karrinyup had no tellers available for about 1/2 hour before noon today. This was a major problem for someone with limited time.
Website says open today. Nope. Drove to shopping centres with express purpose of looking to open another account. Not with this bank!
I have had 5-6 people have taken out of my account in the last 2 years from over seas. They didnt call or email me when it was out of the ordinary. Not very happy.
I'm a former employee of Bankwest and as such have a mortgage with them. I've paid off the mortgage and now wish to close the account. I went in to a branch and asked how to do it and was told the account would close automatically.
It didn't, so I contacted customer service via their online chat platform.
After initially being told the same thing, I was subsequently told I would have to write them a letter with all loan signatories to close the account. However they also told me I can submit my discharge request before I close the loan ...(which contradicts earlier advice) and promised to send me the form via email. Form has not arrived so I've contacted them a third time to try and get hold of the form. It's a simple transaction, it should not take three attempts.
It's just so easy
I've had a bankwest credit card for three years. Mostly use it for when I travel. I have only ever had good experiences with this bank.
From day one had very good custumer service. I don't usually leave reviews but they get a big tick from me. Will be recommending to all my friends.
Accommodating and great credit cards
I've been with BankWest for over a year and have now got two credit cards with them.
My first credit card was the Breeze, and I was initially offered a $3000 limit. I contacted them to say that I needed the $6000 limit so I could use this card for its intended purpose – making larger online purchases (for online education courses). I needed to cover the cost of the courses, plus the international transaction fee is waived with the platinum card. The team worked with me to advise what I'd need to reduce my other credit card limits to in order...to get the higher limit approved. I opted to receive credit limit increase invites and have received two in the past year – much more generous than my other card providers. I recently applied for the Zero as a second credit card. The team was very helpful and said I will be able to reduce my limit on the Breeze and add that to the limit on my new card. New cards often have very good balance transfer deals, but offers are regularly made available to existing card customers, which is rare. Literally everything can be done online which is a massive advantage.

No longer the great bank they use to be!
When I first opened my Bankwest transaction account they were great. No sure what is going on with them but their processing leaves alot to be desired. EFTPOS transaction with a pin are delayed in being processed, they don't process over the weekend. When you check your statement you will notice the date they process the transaction and the date and time you actually made the transaction. In this day and age of technology there is no justification for these delays. Bankwest staff certainly cannot explain it. I have noticed these delays don't occur with my new bank.
Fantastic customer service
Just want to say that your employee Amelia Cook from Port Hedland branch is amazing. So helpful, clarifies in an exemplary manner..extremely efficient in her role..I will highly recommend her to anyone that I am aware of who is looking for a home loan...
From a satsfied customer," thany you Amelia"
Superb... efficient, courteous and friendly.
Having banked with many local and international banks in Australia and overseas, I can honestly say Bankwest offer the most efficient, friendly service I have ever received from any of my banks. Simply superb... I hope you guys stay like this forever.
Very poor Customer service.
Long waiting times in queues.
If you are elderly or infirm, too bad, just wait until the often single teller
is available. Ten/fifteen minutes wait? Not acceptable.
I have moved my business elsewhere.
